Title: Transparency on slopes
Post by: capo on February 10, 2008, 04:52:26 PM
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I couldn't find a better thread.

Lately I have been using JRJ's plopable water to create canals with like this:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg148.imageshack.us%2Fimg148%2F9179%2Fjrjplopwaterfr6.jpg&hash=55af20630630ceb5493aa070f7e205a42a8e41b7)
To do this I need to lower terrain and create new lots with a 0 on foundation threshold to overlap the JRJ plop water texture on the edges. This works very well except on diagonals (with slopes). When I create a diagonal lot (with only overlay texture and no base texture) and when I place it on a slope  I get a blue base texture as if you saved the game with transparent textures. This blue texture is permanent and it really ruins my diagonal canals. Is there a way to avoid the blue-ishness of the original base texture when it's removed?

Hi Capo- I like the look of this - very clever!

To answer your question - yes - but the piece needs to be batted (ie a model rather than a texture); also, the model would have to have a custom LOD to allow it to diagonally 'cut' through the ploppable water.

Im afraid that´s a bit out of my league at the moment so I guess for now I will have to do with straight canals. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question!
