Title: How to build a Parallel Oneway Intersection
Post by: sebes on March 07, 2008, 07:27:12 AM
I noticed in a couple of MD's that people use parallel road ramps to connect to one way parrallel exits, for example here in  Balnavia (http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/7113/rosevillesep14331204353ij0.jpg) were roundabouts were needed to avoid a sudden stop of the road. The road is only needed for connecting traffic from the highway to the crossing avenue.

By using a different type of exit or ramp, connecting to OW road, an intersection like this becomes possible:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi241.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff155%2Fdgnk_amsterdam%2FOW%2520exits%2Fede1f1f7.jpg&hash=46c4926115f5ccf93e35885aeb47bcc725fa8c87)

In this tutoral I will show how to build such an intersection.

Step 1:
Build an elevated High way
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi241.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff155%2Fdgnk_amsterdam%2FOW%2520exits%2Fb628a570.jpg&hash=ffc0ed1ec46befa6a243f7dda18b450594845a68)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi241.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff155%2Fdgnk_amsterdam%2FOW%2520exits%2Fdd6b05ad.jpg&hash=ee38504d61c06440496555bec55a2d4ee76a5330)

Step 2:
Build an OW road parallel to the highway, with at least 2 tiles, in the direction that you want the ramp to connect to the highway
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi241.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff155%2Fdgnk_amsterdam%2FOW%2520exits%2F80188101.jpg&hash=4493a18cbfab1173dd8f0e19f9d58a115ad5f219)

Step 3:
Make sure that 5 tiles are available to place the ramp
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi241.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff155%2Fdgnk_amsterdam%2FOW%2520exits%2Fcbd42dce.jpg&hash=0fa63424361dca091082bce09d3520310901324c)

Step 4:
Select in the highway menu the tool to build Oneway Parallel Ramps (the last button)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi241.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff155%2Fdgnk_amsterdam%2FOW%2520exits%2Fee0abd56.jpg&hash=25ce0ecdbb7d358eef6e0aeb38d37d8c238b3bb8)

Step 5:
Place the cursor on the last tile of the OW Road
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi241.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff155%2Fdgnk_amsterdam%2FOW%2520exits%2F8089fd95.jpg&hash=1b2ac247a5b60cc714e240da1b593dcd30027d9e)

Step 6:
Use the TAB-key to select the desired exit/ramp (in this case 4x TAB: oneway parallel exit connecting to OW road)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi241.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff155%2Fdgnk_amsterdam%2FOW%2520exits%2Ff177d1ac.jpg&hash=3f69186ce4bc61f216214a331e51261ef466a2af)

Step 7:
You can bulldoze everything except the ramp, the connecting OW tile to the ramp, and the 6 tiles of highway that are parallel to the ramp and that OW tile.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi241.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff155%2Fdgnk_amsterdam%2FOW%2520exits%2F05394cc6.jpg&hash=2755561dd2fea2b577149200eefdea53c78c6d30)

Step 8:
You can connect every roadtype to this ramp by using OW roads, from any direction.

Very handy sebes, and I will keep this in mind.  However the example you used from my MD isn't really relevant as I was using ground hwys and as caspervg commented, at present I don't think what you suggest is possible with the ground hwy pieces available.
