Title: Lot Editor doesn't "Respond"
Post by: Sorengaard on March 11, 2008, 12:05:04 AM
I have downloaded LE but can't get it to open.  A Direct X window opens frozen and won't respond.  I have been going round and round with EA Games about what to do with no solution.  First they told me it was because there were programs running in the background and I should shut all of them down.  Then they said it was because my video card hadn't be updated.  So I went to ATI and downloaded the latest Catalyst Software Suite and it still didn't work.  Now EA says that I need a specific video card driver whose last four version numbers are 6727.  ATI hasn't responded to any emails and I have no idea which Catalyst Software Suite ends in 6727.  But I can't imagine that LE needs something that specific.  In any case if anyone has a suggestion of any kind it would be appreciated.  BTW all the other downloads have worked: B.A.T., SC4 Terraformer, Start-Up Manager, GMax, Dat Packer, Cleanitol and the others.  It is just the Lot Editor that I have problems with. My video info is ATI Radeon X300, Main Driver: ati2dvag.dll Version: 6.14.0010.6783.

Thanks  Steve

Hello,

Don't panic, it happens to the majority of us. It does take TIME to load. It has to go through every lot and props you have and load them all and it does take a while if you have a lot of plugin, for mine it can take up 10 min to load, the two "windows" that open while loading is normal, just leave it and let it load, I would recommend you wait for at least 20 minutes before giving up, sometimes a bit longer.

Cheers.

Or try to load it with less in plugins.

My suggestion is to rename your main plugins folder to pluginsbackup, then create a new empty plugins folder. Add in only what you want to work with, then load lot editor. It will still take up to a minute to start up.

Thanks for the quick response.  You were right on.  &apls It took a while but finally did open.  Now all I have to do is figure out how it all works.  And changing files for just what I want to work on makes a lot of sense as well.  Thanks again.

I had the same problem and couldn't figure out what the cause was. I read this thread and just let the opening box sit and low and behold there was the Lot Editor. Thanks!
