-Message from the Commissar-Dobry Den! Some of you have probably seen this before, but I thought i'd bring it over to SC4D anyway with a prelimary massive update of some (not all) of my more favourable pictures then after that, it'll be normal sized updates as usual.
I do encourage constructive criticism and suggestions, although, its not a problem if you can't think of a suggestion or criticism, all comments are welcomed :P
Chtob vse byli zdorovy!
--------------------------------------------------
-Information-Peoples Republic of Sakhaliya [Russian - Сахалинcкая Народная Pеспублика] was formed in 1948 to end the dispute over who should claim ownership of Sakhalin Area; Russia or Japan. After a short 2 year occupation by Soviet and US forces it was decided that the Region should be free to Govern itself, leading the quick birth of the nation and the transation of the post World War II world into the Cold War era. It is a small Country that occupies the far Easterly border of Russia and also lays claim to the Island of Sakhalin which the country derives its name from. Sakhaliya has coasts with the Pacific Ocean, Sea of Okhotsk, Sea of Japan, the Sakhalin Straight and shares its borders with Russia to the East, the Primorsky State to the South, China to the South East and the KSSR to the North East (although Sakhaliya does not officially recognise its existence).

Sakhaliya has a Council Seat in the IPON, its main focus is the saftey of member states and the promotion of workers and Union rights amoungst the Pact members although it is occasionally critisized itself over the lack of Democratic establishment and poor Economic Development. Dispite this, it has well established Diplomatic relations with many nations, including the United States whom many still believe are trying to supress Communism from existence. Sakhaliya's two large Neighbours, Russia and China, both support Sakhaliya in many ways including Militarily and Finacially. This is seen as the main contributing factor to why the United States will not interfere with the developing Nation by any means.

Oh , I sitting here on the edge of my seat pushing refresh, refresh, refresh...............
Robin ;)
Tis fixed now ;)
Awesome start, just as I knew it would be. I love the over all feel of the industrial darkness. All the smoke stacks and the pipelines, all very nice touches. There are a few BATs in there that I have never seen before, but I think I'll wait a while to bug you for those. ;)
Great work and I can't wait to see what's next. &apls
Robin
Welcome to the MD section, El Burro!
You're off to a massive start here, my friend! I am quite eager to follow along with you here!
Dustin
wow that was a great start i am really impressed &apls
Looking excellent here burro!
Fantastic start El Burro! &apls
Where did you get all these buildings like Hotel Ivana :D
And the graphic design of your pictures is very interesting, some of them are real pieces of art :)
I like all your military/industrial stuff, but these black limousines and their escort are my absolutely favourites :D
Adam
Yay! Our Fourth IPON Cj at Sc4d!
Im glad your making the move as i have!
I love the pictures as always
and excellent summit!
This is a very impressive start for a new MD. A lot of images and they are all very well presented with a unique layout, a nice style you have chosen for this MD.
Also what is to see in the different images is showing a coherent idea about city planning and building styles, and even with some bats I have never seen before. They are fitting so well I am assuming they have been made especially for this diary.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.maj.com%2Fgallery%2FElburro%2FCJ%2FSakhaliya%2Freplies2.png&hash=49ccb784d1636675907cf0be5e81b0212e1fbb15)
Rooker1 - Thanks ;D Some of the Bats you spy are probably my own creations that I haven't released... yet.
Thundercrack83 - Thanks very much, I'm pretty eager to keep updating but I won't overwhelm people with thousands of updates every week, its easy to loose track that way ;)
Squidi - Cheers! :)
Yoman - Couldn't have finished the summit off in style without those tanks for yours ;)
Ennedi - Thanks, we got Glenni to thank for the Limo, Police car and Plane models. Hotel Ivana is my own creation, never released it since the nightlighting is terrible and the back is quite ugly, but I may fix it in the future ;)
SixCentz - Wouldn't say i've moved as such, but I love the MD's here and thought Sakhaliya shouldn't miss out. Alot of our IPON members are coming from SC4D too, probably wondering who the heck I am and what Sakhaliya is :D
Kwakelaar Thank you. Yes your right, some of them I made myself (like the Hotel Ivana, IPON Congress, Uncle Joes and the marching Soldiers) and other models were graciously donated by Glenni and Yoman ;D
Hi Burro,
Glad to see another IPON member here at SC4D. West End are proud to be associated with Sakhaliya, and I love the pics of the IPON leaders arriving for the summit.
Uncle Joe's is my favourite of your Bats - a great idea for your very socialist MD.
Sakhaliya certainly has a unique feel about it and I think you'll go down a storm here.
Your "replies" banner is also cool - nice touch.
All the best,
Paul
Wow, that is one massive amount of pictures, and they are all great as well. Bravo &apls
Excelllent start of a new MD El Burro! And what a presentation... :satisfied:
The layout of your cities and the bats you used is making me drool over the keyboard.
I agree with the other mayors here. Excellent start to your MD Here. I enjoyed reading the information of your country. Keep Up The Great Work and Keep those updates coming!
&apls &apls Very nice MD . A super start and great layout , pics and great choices of bat. Is it enough compliment to know if you gonna release your creation one of this day ? ;D Nan just kidding . I don`t want to boring you ,but still like them very much . Great batter you are too Looking forward
Awesome ;D I've been waiting to see some more of Sakhaliya. I still can't get enough of that awesome Hotel Ivana, looks super.
Y halo thar :P , what took you so bloodly much time to set up shop here you wanker ;D
Great to hear that they are your creations.
I like the fact that you used the word "yet" while talking about releasing them.
Robin &dance %BUd%

Moving about, eh, burro? :D
Despite the fact that i have already seen much of this, it still amazes me, your MD is just a one of a kind MD, that's for sure! :)
Looks very grim. I love it
Cheerfully oppressive! Gotta love it :D
Always nice to see some new grimey Soviet goodness. Eagerly awating more.
Welcome, El Burro - you've made a stunning grand entrance. The photos are terrific and the background story is very interesting and well-planned! All in all, a very professional-looking approach.
It will be a pleasure to follow along as Sakhaliya develops.

Congrats for your award in this month!
Looking forward to the updates...
Wow - only 1 update, and 33 replies already ...
you do belong truely in the OSITM section - a well deserved award therefor!
Great start... I just wish I could see it! I seem to be the only one who can't view the pictures... :-\
On behalf of steve i apologies but the hosting site he uses, and i use occasionally has gone down, for reasons unknown, thus until el burro rehosts his pictures there will be none showing. I'm sure he is apologetic for the inconvenience.
I accept his... your... his... apology! :P
I am looking forward to seeing this, though, to be true!
Wow, you're already a OSITM? Awesome job! ;D
Moley holey, I wasn't expecting this :D Thank you very much!
I apologise for my image host, it's had about a week of down-time but its back up now. Also sorry for the lack of updates, i've been away from my house (and therefor, SC4 aswell) and have had limited access to the internet. A quick trip to my parents house has ended in me staying for an indefinite period of time due to car troubles (sigh)... shouldn't be too long untill i'm back though and have an update ready ;)
An excellent start to this MD.
Now I can see the pics, I can understand all the excitement of the previous posters.
and such fantastic pics too, Shows the care and attention to details that makes this MD
so good.
I hope you can continue this high standard when you return from your enforced vacation. :D
:satisfied:

Of all the CJ's/MD's I have thus far perused until I was green with envy $%Grinno$% this noy only turned me green, but all shades of the rainbow! We are in the presence of genius! And I had had a glimpse of it before, "over there..". It only gets better, and better, and - you get my drift.

Teaser One
Thank you for all your replies. As much as I would like to write an essay thanking every last one of you, i'm quite strapped for time and I must simply state that the replies I have recieved here have been the utmost encouraging
Its been a while (too long infact) but I am back. I've been having some Graphics card and internet problems but it seems to have been getting better these past few weeks despite having my new job taking up the majority of my time. :-\
I have a few teasers for you right now before I update soon (tomorrow seems likely ;) )

EDIT - Now that the lightning id done frying my PC I must say that the fact that the plant has a "satisfactory safety record" is quite funny, care to elaborate on what satisfactory means :P
I've been looking forward to this for a long time! Hope things work together for you in the days to come, El Burro.
Later...
Joan
Welcome back, El Burro! And with a splendid teaser, no less! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us tomorrow!
Dustin
Thanks for the replies. Special thanks to Thundercrack who moved it out of the inactive MD's
Heres that update!

MD Update 2
Slavyat- The Nuclear Heartland
Welcome back Comrades and curious folk alike. Many years ago, back in the early days of Premier Buriya, Sakhaliya set up a Nuclear Programme with aid from both China and the USSR. We got as far as obtaining the technology needed for Uranium enrichment and blueprints for a Nuclear Reactor, but our efforts were halted by the Chernobyl disaster of 1986 when we discovered the blueprints we were given were also for a RBMK type reactor. We waited some years for more news on new a Reactor type and funding from the USSR but instead we got the total dissolution and break up of the Empire. We soon gave up our ambitions and switched most of Nuclear funding over to the Government owned COSORD ('Commission of Sakhaliyan Oil Reserve Drilling').

COSORD owns all of the Oil supplies in Sakhaliya. Oil produces 10% of Sakhaliya's total GDP and is growing more and more with the revenue COSORD is making from oversea's exports while we wean ourselves off of it by closing down our Oil Fired Power plants and running a fierce pro-Public Transport campaign to urge people onto the vast transit network we are running.
Nuclear Power is now playing a large part in this goal-

In 1999, Sakhaliya forwarded a notice to the UN to announce our intentions to seek Nuclear fuels as a viable Power resource. The international community was skeptical that our intentions were soley 'Civil' and set out to embargo all Nuclear technology and materials from our Country, but the UN gave us a chance and sent weapons inspectors as a precationary measure to double check we were telling the truth. And we were.

Near the site of the Plant was the town of Slavyat; a new town built especially for the Plant (that hadn't been built at this point in time)... it was a Utopian vision that was destroyed by the relocation of over 15,000 Khabarovsk Citizens in order to ease the lack to employment in the City. The small communal gardens and man made lakes were covered up to make way for huge tower blocks and a new 'Commission of Nuclear Fuels' building. The Premier simply said, 'We will do better next time'... but I don't feel we have.

The Area to the East of Slavyat, we are looking West

Commission of Nuclear Fuels building
With the relocation however, we WERE able to make use of the extra land and skilled work-force. This lead to the construction of both a Weapons Factory producing various vehicles and weapons for the Sakhaliyan Army (dubbed 'The Red Fist') and a moderate sized Airbase on the 'Murska Vyazekij' for a proportion of the Sakhaliyan Airforce (dubbed 'The Red Phoenix').

Slavyat Weapons Factory. Outside are various pieces of Hardware, including T-72 Sakhaliyan Variants and the SCUD B missile launcher
The Military although is very much hidden in this town. The Airbase is were most Soldiers are stationed, on alert 24/7, using the vast forest surroundings as their training ground. Heavily armed Soldiers, T-72's and Shilka's stalk the forests in large exercises although, some hidden in the forest are not here to play games; they are on constant search for unauthorised Aircraft.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.majhost.com%2Fgallery%2FElburro%2FCJ%2FSakhaliya%2Fslavyat21.jpg&hash=6c779aec8fe76781fdca6582a93db8f656619109)
Although this lone Shilka couldn't take down a spy plane, it can relay an enemy plane's position to nearby SA-2 'Guidline' Missile batteries that will lock on, launch, and chase an Aircraft into the ground.
On a less deadly note, the Slavyat authorities are planning starting a Ferry crossing to Sakhalin in the coming months to boost the Islands accessability and economy. It was initially thought a Bridge could be built to Sakhalin but the Government took one look at the estimated cost and effectively told the local authorities to 'Get lost'.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.majhost.com%2Fgallery%2FElburro%2FCJ%2FSakhaliya%2Fslavyat22.jpg&hash=d550ca095a411a883ec65290a341603606356272)
The planned route goes from an abandoned 'Dementia Facility' (Insane Asylum) on the coast, to a small flat area on Sakhalin where a new Town is also planned
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.majhost.com%2Fgallery%2FElburro%2FCJ%2FSakhaliya%2Fslavyat14.jpg&hash=330275e69731d2633f3c0763e92698ff26c5e005)
An old WW2 Japanese Field Hospital turned Sakhaliyan Insane Asylum. Many of the people incarcerated were never fully diagnosed and died as a result. It was closed in 1972 and the patients moved to Khabarovsk
Slavyat itself is a prime example of Sakhaliyan town design, with a few extra's however. This Market-come-Swimming pool establishment is part of the 'Greater People's Welfare Programme' initiated by the Government to alleviate the monotony of living in towns like this up and down the country with very few Lesuire facilities
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.majhost.com%2Fgallery%2FElburro%2FCJ%2FSakhaliya%2Fslavyat8.jpg&hash=17705145c2c9ab631d4f6a1d6bd4db4b786425d4)
Along with the new Programmes is the introduction of private farms. People have the ability to buy thier land off the Government for a small fee. This allows them to buy and sell produce as they will at local Markets.

Its not exactly the Netherlands, but when it comes to traditional bread and food stuffs a Windmill is an invaluble commodity. This one is shared by the entire community.
And that about does it. Hopefully i've enlightened you and informed some more about our glorious homeland. Its not all good I admit, but not much is in any country. As the international community applies more pressure, Sakhaliya will most probaby become a better, less controlled place. Democracy however, doesn't seem likey... not that I feel the country would be any better with it.
Wish you well,
Dasvidanya! :D
Great update burro. Seems the nuclear plant has exploded quite yet (though will soon :P) Glad you were able to use the T-72s.
I am appalled. More democracy? :angrymore:
However, I'm very pleased with your update. I wish my game was like this (sometimes) $%Grinno$%
Ars celare artem.
Excellent work on the oil field, El Burro, and the farm looks great. The city has a somewhat grayish tinge of sameness about it which meshes well with your storyline. I'd imagine such an effect is rather difficult to achieve. And the way you presented the ferry route, along with its reason for being, is quite clever and effective.
Glad to see you and the Peoples Republic of Sakhaliya back in the game!
Joan
Great updates Burro. Love all the things. Great ministories, like the Asylum. Good job!
Wow very succeeded, congratulation !
Hasten to see the continuation
Woa ! It's very interresting like you buld your city  !
&apls &apls I, m very happy that you still do your MD. Do you have some other new building to come ? Great update btw &apls &apls &apls
Burro,
You have a real skill for an MDer that is for sure. The storyline and information seems just effortless (I'm sure it's not but the fact is appears that way is special).
The nuclear plant is really well done, I am very impressed with it.
And of course, I'd love to see the inhabitants of all the tower blocks in the pool at the same time ;)
Long live the People's Republic
Nice work, I'm usually not a fan of this sort of CJ but I like this. I love the military on parade, very realistic... reminds me a bit of studying the Tiananmen Square protests in China, maybe put a person in front of the tanks? :P
The military... I notice you use tanks and APCs that are out of date currently, each has an improved model. Is this set back in time? It'd make sense if it was. Even so, the current models are the BTR-90 APC and the T90 tank (believed to be one of the best in the world at the moment, better than the American M1A2 for sure).
Wow, Excellent update, I lov It.
The millitary aera is really beautiful and the city is very wonderfull.
Go on.
It took a while but it was worth the wait - an excellent update again.
I enjoy watching the pictures that you added to this update, they show great citybuilding skills, but even more important, very good nature manipulating as well. Did you creat your own map/region or do you use an existing one?
The militairy plants and residential tower blocks are top notch! Every thing fits so well together. The left asylum is absolute very great, I have seen made complexes like that, and you did a great job in catching the feel that comes with them !! I also like the way how you introduce the Get-Lost-You-Will-Get-A-Ferry-Instead-connection to Sakhalin
That is such a cool Nuke Plant! I love the details, such as it's cooled by the sea, the reactor type, etc.
Finally the town has a recreation center and pool. I thought in a lot of commie countries rec centers were very common amenities in towns?
You know Sahkaliya for a socialist society doesn't seem to do enough(or anything) for it's people to enhance their state of living. Maybe it is time to introduce more to communities and cities in the country. This would also enhance SK's image overseas and might detract from the issue of not being trusted with nukes...
very nice comrade &apls &apls
