Title: Light Replacement Project - Version 2 released! 06/25/2008
Post by: MandelSoft on April 20, 2008, 06:11:17 AM
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg262.imageshack.us%2Fimg262%2F9293%2Flrpht0.jpg&hash=e256c05acd7dcec69b38f17a51479370bd4c41fd)

Some of you may know the LRP, but for those who don't, here's a introduction

The're many mods that change the look of the transport networks, like the Street Side Mod and the Euro texture mod. But you couldn't get rid of those streetlights from Maxis, until this project came out. The mod is based on the Streetlight Color Pack and the SMP Highway light mod (it's great stuff!). These mods are now not compatible anymore with the LRP (because these files are kind of "outdated").

FAQ's

1. Can the lightsets be combined?
Yes. For every wealth type, you can place one lightpole, for example, you use the German High Wealth lights in combination of the UK medium wealth lights.

Title: LRP - Announcements
Post by: MandelSoft on May 12, 2008, 06:28:02 AM
Actually, from now on, I focus my attention to the LRP. I've released an Alpha version of the Guard Rail Modd on the RHW-topic.

Yesterday I got a plan. Maybe I can release the lights per style or wealth type, and not per version, as it is now So I added a poll, as you can see.

Also planned:
- A file which makes a standalone prop from every lamppost
- Edit T21-exemplars, so you have differrent light on different roads and densities
- Add functionallity to Intestate80's models

The LRP is back on track

Title: Lamppost Colorsets
Post by: MandelSoft on May 14, 2008, 12:20:51 PM
WOW! 100th Post %BUd%

In this post I announce that some lampposts will come in four different colors (red, yellow, green and blue).
Because they have the same IID you can use only one color (per light) at once.

The lights which will have colorsets:
- NL $ light (single- and doublesided)
- NL $$$ light
- UK $ light (single- and doublesided)
- German $$$ light (single- and doublesided)

A picture from what's already done

Hope you like it!

http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=3297.0 (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=3297.0)

These lights will be included in the LRP

And it looks clear that the lamp style sets are prefered.

EDIT ; the little traffic lights is Yellow ,in reality is red !!

Thank you !

I have some extra documentation for you:

Dimensions of traffic lights manufactured by Vialis

Go to:
Long link (http://www.vialis.nl/bin/ibp.jsp?ibpDispWhat=zone&ibpPage=S13_FocusPage&ibpDispWho=S13_Verkeer&ibpZone=S13_Verkeer&ibpDisplay=view&)

And then "Prijslijst Verkeerslichten en toebehoren 2008" and download the .pdf file.

Best of luck.

Hi mrtnrln!

I would like to say that this mod is excellent and I would like to thank you for all your hard work making it.

There is however a graphics glitch as shown in the picture below:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi284.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll21%2FGenuine_Intrepid%2FSim%2520City%25204%2FLightConesGlitch.png&hash=09ce55e704e912c99c8a190cdba18a9bee5ab374)

As you can see, the lights along the streets (as well as avenues and roads) are perfectly fine, however the light cones on the motorway lights are not in the correct position.

Can you help please?  ()what()

Just for the record, these street lights, are American street lights.

My gmax model

EDIT: It seems Interstate 80 beat me to the punch with modding something very, very, very close to the one I made.

Hey Everyone. I've started using the LRM mod and so far i like what i see! However there are two problems i've had with it:

1. On motorways i've selected to have streetlights appear on the median. However most of the time it appears as if two streetlights are being placed right next to each other producing a "double" effect. Streetlights near interchanges appear properly (see images). Is there a way to prevent the  double affect?

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi136.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq168%2Fcitymaster13%2FNewRochelle-Aug24521217905513.png&hash=fa316012b5e6255f9f8fe41ad9d06b9890c2f974)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi136.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq168%2Fcitymaster13%2FNewRochelle-Aug31521217905561.png&hash=8f2f8ed1351dc20276c21313f928d09151997662)

2. I use the JRJ Streets mod, which comes with its own streetlights. However both the JRJ and the LRM streetlights appear together on streets. Is there any way to get just the LRM streetlights to appear on my modded streets?

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi136.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq168%2Fcitymaster13%2FNewRochelle-Sep14521217905623-1.png&hash=032856d7844e9ff2f49d246425915f22af312c79)

PS: I'm using the UK pack of LRM streetlights.

Hi mrtnrln!

I would like to say that this mod is excellent and I would like to thank you for all your hard work making it.

There is however a graphics glitch as shown in the picture below:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi284.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fll21%2FGenuine_Intrepid%2FSim%2520City%25204%2FLightConesGlitch.png&hash=09ce55e704e912c99c8a190cdba18a9bee5ab374)

As you can see, the lights along the streets (as well as avenues and roads) are perfectly fine, however the light cones on the motorway lights are not in the correct position.

Can you help please?  ()what()

I see the problem. I think I accidently put the light cones for the extra tall model into the normal model.

2. I use the JRJ Streets mod, which comes with its own streetlights. However both the JRJ and the LRM streetlights appear together on streets. Is there any way to get just the LRM streetlights to appear on my modded streets?

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi136.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq168%2Fcitymaster13%2FNewRochelle-Sep14521217905623-1.png&hash=032856d7844e9ff2f49d246425915f22af312c79)

1. Are you using SMP's highway light modd. That could cause the problem. If so, ou should delete it. And the lights will not appear immediately on the right position. You have to rebuild that piece of highway.

2. That's possible, but it would require a lot of T21-modding

I hope I answered your questions.

Best,
Maarten

I was wondering why the download readme says
Dependencies

To ensure the proper functionality, make sure the files mentioned below are installed in the plugins folder.

StreetlightColourPackV2_LightCones.dat from cogeo's Streetlight Colour pack V2
StreetlightColourPackV2_Lamppost$$$Fix.dat from cogeo's Streetlight Colour pack V2
StreetlightColourPackV2_LampAuraColorTinted.dat from cogeo's Streetlight Colour pack V2
Then after you install that readme says

Dependencies

To ensure the proper functionality, make sure the files mentioned below are installed in the plugins folder.

- none -     ???
Also there is no way to really tell what types of lamp post you like without actually installing n checking then installing n....
So a readme to reflect all the different options, and a little clearup on the dependencies would be much appreciated. thanks ()what()

Well, for some reason the installed readme isn't up to date. I'll try to solve these issues.

EDIT:
Issue solved. The file has been updated!

I have been using the LRM mod, with dutch style street lights. I have it set up so that on highways, lights appear on the median Here's the problem:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi136.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq168%2Fcitymaster13%2FCalverston-Mar7201229814767.png&hash=c18f4ac5180800ddb1f21d1850168bc71541f8b5)
In this shot, the lights appear normal. However, if you look closely there are actually two sets of lights there, practically superimposed on top of one another. This is on a straight section of ground highway, far from any interchanges, ramps, or onslopes (which i use a lot w/ my freeways)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi136.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq168%2Fcitymaster13%2FCalverston-Mar7201229814838.png&hash=7ff051b5fee335b8459c58e64e98a71ad0e61bbf)
In this shot, a light is placed right in front of a T-interchange. Only one instance of the light is there (compare the two images) but only one half of the light renders a light cone (an element of the model?) My guess is that the light was created this way on purpose, so when two were superimposed on top of each other like they usually are (by either the game itself, or by some mod).

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi136.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq168%2Fcitymaster13%2FCalverston-Mar7201229814899.png&hash=5505c75b16e70950a8cbba7353d5a948ab853e15)
This shot shows you both lights in a row, near an onslope. Anyways, how do i fix this, so that the lights ALWAYS appear properly (Although, for realism i could pretend that the glitchy lights were ones that burned out, because no city is perfect ;D) Also, i noticed that lights always appear on the side of the highway on the onslope itself. Is there a way to fix this too?

BTW mrtnrln, with the RHW addon mod, how do you make lights appear on the median of two parallel rhw-4's?

Yes, this is the purpose. I had to choose between too bright lights on normal sections and one light down on intersections. Because the second seems more realistic, I chose that option.

I tried once to fix that issue, but I failed. So I don't know how to fix this.

Yes. I haven't done the T21 of the onslope pieces yet.

That's just an overhanging prop, which is placed on a LOT beside the road.

I hope this answers some questions.

Maarten

Thanks Mrtnrln! Previously i thought i was the only person who had this problem. Truthfully things are a little more realistic on the motorways if there's an occasional burnt out light ;D. Besides, it's not very noticeable with the UK extra tall lights, which i am currently using. Hopefully u will be able to finish the onslopes in the next release, which i highly anticipate. So far the LRP has done wonders for my city's appearance.

I really like this mod, in the day time the lights look great, but at night they turn into brown boxes. I followed the instructions in the read-me file and I am still having this problem. Out of all the lights I downloaded the only ones that light up at night and don't have brown boxes are Dutch $$$. I've been trying to figure this out for a while so maybe someone here has the solution. Also in addition to that, none of my downloaded buildings light up at night, is this the same problem?

It seems that you are missing the lightcones. Check all thedependencies again if you downloaded and installed them.

Yeah, that was the problem. I thought I had already downloaded the light cones a while ago for something else but I must have gotten that confused with something else. The lights work great now, thanks!

Hey mrtnrln, when at night the LRM German Streetlights ( $$$ Avenues, Roads, etc.) they become brown boxes!  :bomb: Can you fix the problem? (NOTE: I'd like you to please fix the problem because I like your streetlights (LRM)  ::)  )
