Title: Deadwoods on the LEXX
Post by: deadwoods on February 20, 2007, 03:24:10 AM
Sorry that should be LEX, but I just love the show.

The observant amongst you (yes I know there aren't many :P ) may have noticed I've uploaded a few files to the BSC LEX over the last few days (45 as at about five mins ago). Some of these were only ever published on PEG's PLEX. Most have been published on the STEX.

I'm in the process of uploading all the ones from the STEX that don't need any modifications. Many contain readme's that link to dependencies on the STEX. I still need to go through the readme's and fix the dependency links. If you have all of the BSC Mega Prop Packs (most are on the BSC LEX under the category of "Dependency - Props", except I think for Simgoobers) and the BSC Mega Texture Pack (also on the BSC LEX under the category "Dependency - Textures") you should be safe..

I will post a list of files I've uploaded when I get a chance.

There are a few sets that will be repackaged/remodded (such as the Servo Series and the HWT Building). They're not forgotten, just further down the to-do list.

the LEXX is now DEAD   :P

Don't tell me that. We're not up to that part of the series on SciFi here in Oz.

I've now got 50 items up on the LEX. I still need to go through and fix dependency links. Then I've got 20+ sets that need cleaning up (some need some modding, some will be consolidated into one dat/package) that will be done over the next few weeks. If I can I'll put together a master-list of dependencies for all my lots on the STEX (no promises).

Progress update. I've been going through the readme's for the 50 files already on the LEX and checking the dependencies. I had planned to update all the links to be correct, but it turned out to be a PITA. Soooo, I've created a single HTML file that contains all links for all my files on the LEXX...

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg247.imageshack.us%2Fimg247%2F8595%2Fmaster1ko7.jpg&hash=da740faf6492f70fa413c54dd7fe6bcece0d04e2)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg143.imageshack.us%2Fimg143%2F6448%2Fmaster2sp2.jpg&hash=0bb0306edaf61fc09b3d67c33a52d5a7ff3b037c)

It also contains a Cleanitol file (installed into the cleanitol folder) that can be used to check for all the files. This requires the latest Cleanitol ( v1.8 ).

I plan to update this pack every time my dependency list changes. Nerxt step in the migration is to go back through the old readmes and remove the dependency sections. Please identify any problems with the list (either the HTML file or the Cleanitol file).

This Master Dependency list is a wonderful idea and I really appreciate the effort in creating it.
It definitely deserves a brownie point

Last night I updated all of the descriptions of my files on the LEXX to refer to the master dependency list. I have not updated the embedded readmes as 1) its too much work  , and 2) that would have flagged all 50+ packages as updated on the LEXX so folks would go and download again when they don't need to. So ignore the dependencies in the readme, just use the DEDWD Master Dependency List.

You would have noticed that SandraSim1 has been posting the Amsterdam Centraal Station lots on the LEX. A number of BSC members worked on these lots some time ago (it was one of the first big BSC team projects) including Daeley, SandraSim and myself, based off Xannepan's brilliant model. SandraSim1 has revisited the dependencies on both the "Under Construction" lot and the live station (a Reward). I haven't yet updated the Master Dependency List to include my lot of the pair (the Under Construction (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=573) lot). It's at the top of the list.

Finally, I've started working on the older lots from the STEX that need a bit of cleanup. One of my earlier uploads to the STEX was a set of small railway utility lots, called the BSC SimCityRail Utility Lots. These are functional (i.e. transit enabled) plopable lots to enhance your rail system. There are carparking lots, small maintenance yards, a signal booth, a water tank (that supplied water) and a few others. They all have custom UI's. I've rebuilt the readme, reviewed the dependencies and repackaged the lots. There is a BSC Cleanitol TM file included in the new pack that will look for and cleanup any of the old files. Download the new package here (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=575)

Thank you so much, Deadwoods! That is definitely time and effort above and beyond the call of the game! You list and, of course, your excellent contributions to the game are greatly appreciated! I think every one of my cities has something of yours in it. Please take that as the highest compliment I can give!

One more pack copied from the STEX. A long time ago I created a BAT of the Frank Lloyd Wright Rosenbaum House (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=584) for barby as part of a series of BLS small houses. The house is a great example of FLW's Usonian Houses. In the migration from the STEX I have redone some pics and the readme, and checked the dependencies. The DEDWD Master Dependency List (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=557) has been reviewed, but no additional dependencies were required for this lot.

Two more sets on the BSC LEX; 1) the Herald and Weekly Times Building (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=587) (from Melbourne), and 2) the I-HT Pharmaceutical Labs Set (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=588).

The Herald and Weekly Times building contains the original Plopable Landmark and Growable CS$$6 lots. I've also added three new growable CS$$7 lots; a 4x5 lot, a 4x6 lot and a 5x5 lot to give it a bit more growing variety. There's not much from Maxis in that stage/size, so they should pop up. Here's a pic from a city with heaps of CS$$ demand...

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg86.imageshack.us%2Fimg86%2F812%2Fhwtkq5.jpg&hash=1345cf53ffcfc82b77a6ac7e8557e1cb7803ad71)

You can see a 5x5 (top left) and a few 4x6 lots. I didn't get any 4x5 tonight, but I did get one last night.

The I-HT Pharmaceuticals set is exactly the same as the set I posted on the STEX some time ago.

I did not need to update the Master Dependency List (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=557) for either of these sets; the list contains the dependencies for these lots.

For the Aussies, I'm putting a little Aussie flag on the downloads that are Aussie-themed (i.e. copies of Aussie buildings or brands, or based on the types of buildings we see).

Ooops, too late. They were loaded up a few weeks ago. I've got quite a few things still on the list to cleanup/move across. But I'll see if I can do that following.

DEDWOODS: I love your lots and am using a lot of them in my cities. I just encountered a bit of a problem with some of the dependencies in your Master Dependency List:

1. McCormick and Company-0x5ad0e817_0x71bc08fc_0x30000.SC4Model - ST link broken
2. Mother Russia - Caliban BSC.dat - locked
3. PEG-CDKN_Pier-One_205.dat - unable to open URL link-item could not be found (for some reason the PLEX only has CDKN Pier 3 & 4???)
4. SG_FarmSupplyEssentials.dat - ST link broken, don't know if it has been included in some pack at the LEX

Would appreciate if somebody can help me on this... (my cities have been growing beautifully lately, thanks to the LEX!!!)

Edit: found PEG-CDKN_Pier-One_205.dat from browsing forums at the PLEX (http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item54)

1. McCormick is a building by marcszar and has been removed from the STEX pending upload to the LEX.
2.Mother Russia (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=207) is on the LEX in a pack of caliban's work.
4.  SG_FarmSupplyEssentials.dat now forms part of SG_Extras_Agriculture (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1145) on the LEX.

I have been looking for marcszar model myself yesterday to get deadwoods Ministry of garbage up and running in one of my cities. And although marcszar has locked his upload on the STEX he farsightedly provided an alternative download for the plain model file (for everyone in need for it to avoid the large brown box on deadwoods lot). You can find the link at the bottom of his locked STEX upload or simply try this (http://www.rpi.edu/~szarkm/6_Temporary_Hosted_Files/ModelFile-McCormickandCompany.zip) copy of it.

 appreciate the link blubb coz the link for the model file at ST was whacked (only displays "[URL]", no link). Sadly, however,i can't seem to open your link for some reason :( will just have to wait for the LEX upload  for my Ministry of Garbage to appear properly  &mmm

The "locked STEX upload" is now gone from the STEX. Neither the link from Deadwoods Master Dependency List/Cleanitol output nor searching STEX for McCormick(s) works.

Thank you ever so much (i.e. Vielen Dank) for providing a working download of the file  &apls

Title: DEDWD_MEGAPropPack_v100.zip and DEDWD IHT Pharmaceuticals unclear
Post by: itfitzme on July 02, 2010, 11:14:29 AM
Hi,

   The comment section for the megaproppac http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=475 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=475)  or in the readme includes the following notes;

Notes:

   1. You still need the original DEDWD IHT Pharmaceuticals download for the models to go with these props.
   2. This file is in the {mydocs}\SimCity 4\Plugins\deadwoods\DEDWD_SchoolSet folder.
   3. Ignore the name, this DEDWD MEGA Prop Pack is a new file and includes the old one.

Especially with regard to the first note, it is unclear what I am suppose to do.  As I have never installed the previous version, I don't have any "originals".  Are there files that should be downloaded that contains the "original" models?  If so, where?  This question seems to apply generally to all of the notes.  More importantly, the first note indicates that there are files that I need.  With regard to the second note, my plugins don't include this folder and I am concerned that there are additional files that I should have here.  With regard to the third one, I'm not entirely sure as it says I should ignore something that I seem to be forced to ignore anyways as I don't have an "old" one. All in all, it seems that the entire set assumes that I had originally installed an older version.

Thanks much.

Originally the props were in smaller files that were released in smaller packs. Ded had a few cause he made quite a few differnt lots using the individual prop packs as needed. These for the most part were the small things that enhanced the lot, , stuff like fences, light posts, AC units, etc etc the small things that make  lots appear much better.

After a time it was desided to put these prop packs be put together in 1 large file so to help people make sure they had all the props from him  and to help gamers starting out so the could download 1 larger pack and get down to playing (others have done this as well). This way you didn't need to search for individual prop packs, but just downloaded the mega packs, and presto you had all the props needed. No more little brown boxes in the lot.

Building model files are a differnt matter, ussually this was a larger file and most times the main building for most lots. Sometimes building models were used on differnt lots, so the original model file would need to be down loaded for the lot to function correctly or have the building appear correctly wihout brown boxes. Some lot makers used their own building model files on different lots and sometimes they used others building model files when the created new lots. They kindly take the time to dirrect us to these files when needed, and most time provided direct links so you don't even have to search for them, cause their such nice and helpful people.

Basicly this message is for gamers whom were around when the original individual prop packs were released and may have downloaded and installed them into their game. Now with the intoduction of the mega packs gamers whom had the older individual packs need to remove the old files from thier game so as not to have duplicate files in their plugins folder, or possible if they had their plugins folders up to date with all the individual packs the possiblelity that the mega packs might not be needed, but the building model file for this lot was still needed and would have to be downloaded seperately. so it doesn't apply to you, ignore it

To actually complain about all the hard work done by D  (and others) so you can easily  play your game with great lots that enhance your game is very arragont and (I'll edit myself on the rest)  :angrymore:

"$Deal"$ These people do this out of the kindness of their heart, and for the love of the game, they spend tireless hours creating stuff for our games and share it with us, at anytime will take the time to help you the files correct in your game if you have a problem so you can enjoy you game  ALL THIS FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doozer tosses a second sack of hammers @ itfitzme  cause it's fitting  ()sad()

ehhhh I think Itfitzme was a tad bit confussed honestly, I dunno but I could be wrong.. I do believe he didnt read the explaination fully on the notes and the refrences to each said item in the chart... I know I am being the devils advocate here but the question orginally posted could have been worded better yes but I do understand the frustrations of not understanding and trying to ask for help in a biiiiiiig community...

@ Itfitzme I will try to explain this here yes these instructions are meant as you already have had these files here why cause remember how old this game is and how long people have been creating custom content

DEDWD IHT Buildings as Props     DEDWD_IHT_Pharmaceuticals_props.dat     Note 1.

Note 1. You still need the original DEDWD IHT Pharmaceuticals download for the models to go with these props.

What this part is saying here is you still need download this here [linkie] (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=588)

DEDWD School Set Props     DEDWD_SchoolSet_props.dat     Note 2.

Note 2. This file is in the {mydocs}\SimCity 4\Plugins\deadwoods\DEDWD_SchoolSet folder.

Simply telling you that if you have this file where it is at and that you will need to remove it..

DEDWD Mega Prop Pack     DEDWD_Props_Vol01.dat     Note 3.
                                   DEDWD_Props_Vol02.dat
                                   DEDWD_Props_Vol03.dat

Note 3. Ignore the name, this DEDWD MEGA Prop Pack is a new file and includes the old one.

OK here is the tricky one here the three listed is the ones you want removed as that is the Mega pack now that you should have instead of Props Vol 1,2, or 3...

I think that is what itfitzme was wondering and really didn't mean no harm when asking what was going on... If I'm way off key here Im sorry

(EDIT) OK hmmmm looks like I should have looked at the karma log lol and his other post before trying to be an advocate lol, OI now I feel like an arse lol hehehe...... Anywho I do hope that my explanation helps someone else about the changes....

Hi folks, and thanks to all those who posted helpful responses in my absence. It's been a long time since I was actively involved in SC4 and since then a lot has changed with the custom content (not the least being the CAM and the DVD).

You may notice two sets of changes on the LEXX today from me.

#1 - I went looking for the Factory Unit lots in my plugins and found they were missing. So I went to the LEXX to download and found that the package there was for the prop pack, not the lots. I then repackaged both and starte uploading anew. I then found that the prop pack was subsumed by the BSC Mega Props - DAE Vol01 (I have no doubt I did it, but the memory's going in my old age). So I locked the newer download, and fixed the original. Long story short, all the lots are now available at: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=478. They are based on the small pre-fab factory's common around the newer suburbs in Australia; they slap up the pre-fabricated concrete walls and the do a minimal fitout.

#2 - Back in '05 I created a set of small lots (1x1 & 1x2) featuring red-brick double and single story shops that are found in the older inner suburbs or Australian cities. The approach to these is fairly unique, the building fronts (shopfronts) are props in a prop family so you get many combinations of buildings (and a bizarre in-game build where the side and back walls go up and then right at the end the front goes on). There are four downloads; the prop pack, a set of 1x1 gable-roofed buildings, a set of 1x2 gable-roofed buildings, and a set of 1x1 & 1x2 flat roofed buildings (for our northern-hemisphere colleagues).

Please post any issues you find with them. I don't expect any problems, as these are the same lots and props that have been on the STEX for five years.
