i have a few questions about using night lights on a lot.
1. i assume that light props all light up at night automatically? or do i need to activate them or anything?
2. ive also seen light cones and such in L.E. and was wondering if these are better to use than normal light props? anybody have any preferences?
3. can anyone recommend any good light standards, poles, cones, etc. or any other info that may help.
thanks for any advice.
1. As far as I know, all Maxis light poles light up during light, and the ones by other creators depends on what they have done.
2. The light cones can be used for lightning those poles that do not light up during night. Just place them under the light poles; in LE, they seem to be lighted all day; but they are night lighted in-game; so you'll only see them at night.
3. For parking lots, I'd suggest to use SG Parking Lamps (Mega Props SG - Vol 01) or XiaHouDun' Parking Lot Props, both are not standard night lighted tho, so you'll need the cones. Furthermore, I'd suggest you to search both 'light' and 'lamp' in the prop window, and you will be able to find much more.

thanks casper. ive been messing around in LE with light for about an hour now. just seeing what i can find and what looks good for what i need. i will definately have to search for lamps now...never thought about that one. hehe. searching with 'lights' did give me a couple of options though. i did add some cones (bsclight high white cone) and set it under my light pole (vkd light pole). it looked good until i rotated the lot in the LE and the cones seemed to move out of position till i rotated back to the orignal position in which they were plopped. not sure if this carries through to the game or not, i will try it out tomorrow.
Yeah, positioning the cones can be a little tricky. With my poles its my admited flaw, the LODs for the light poles are a little off center on the Single Light, L shaped, and T-shaped lights, so positioning the light cone in the middle of the LOD wont work properly. They should be compatable with most light cones though, so just takes a little work to get everything nice and peachy.
