Hi to all!
In this area, I will introduce my collaboration with Barby in our Italian agricultural series. Images to follow later - but I can guarantee that your game will change after we have been messing around with BATs and Lots.
Lotter/Modder: BarbyW
Batter: Mickebear
See you later... will post some of the progress later. In fact, Barby could tell me where we are, because - been out for past 6 months - I have forgotten a lot of our project...
Word is for Barby :)
Hugs
Mika
The farms and fields together with the Castello di Chianti and Palazzo Bufalini are all available on the LEX. That is where we are up to
Great Barby :) Alright, soon I will show a bit of the work then - now I know exactly at which point of farming I need shovel more... ok...
wow this is going to be great! ;D
ok, first attempt after 6 months of silence...

:o :o :o
*drooooooooooooooooooling* Heck there goes another keyboard.
I will just have to hang in there and hope I will get as good as you one day !!!
Words alone cannot express my joy at seeing this topic show up in the board. This series is the most distinctive and versatile one I have ever seen. I would love to do a whole region in all the forms this has to offer. I am eager to see what you come up with.
You rock!!!! :sunny: &bis&
That is looking very great!
thanks guys, here a bit of an update

Stunning. I could starred at this for.......................................
that is looking wonderful! very realistic! &apls
Woow, that is a very nice bat my bear!
wow thats very beautifull my friend i cant wait till youi finish it
take care
Whoah...that looks like something from Hitman2 (first mission where he kills the Don in a Sicilian Villa) Very nice atmosphere the building has, and incredible detail. Makes u wish it would look detailed (down to the meter like youve done) in the game, instead of the blurry closest zoom!
ah well....your buildings still impress :)
Great textures. You must be using Max to get that bump map effect. Really looking forward to this cooperative effort.
This looks great. Some times, people's greatest works come right after a nice long break. I can't wiat to see more.
Ahhhh ! At last something fresh for my Istrinian villages :-)
Hi Mika ! Nice to see you here ;-)
Hi Nice to see you Fred.
See you found our new hideout.
looking forward to some progress my friend
Hyvältä näyttää! Looking gooood. Nice to see that I'm the crappiest Finnish-born batter in the world of SimCity ;D (I remember that you have at least lived in Finland or do I just see strange dreams?)
What kind of farming will this be? Wine or "normal grain"?
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... sorry that I haven't replied, nor worked on my model for almost 2 months now. RL has just kept me incredibly busy. One of the things I did, I went to Italy, and got loads of inspiration :satisfied: - but also I went to my native Finland to see my parents :)
M4346, D66, vester, bat, sebes, jacqualina, Archangel, Couchpotato, rooker1, fredval and Bengt: first of all big thanks for commenting my work. This building is based on a real time farm house near Verona, it is from the 13th century, and was originally meant for summer palace for a Venetian bishop, and later on served as a dairy farm for a local monastery. So, for the atmosphere, Don Mickebear COULD be killed in a sinister slaughter, and dubious circomstances, but the setting just isn't Sicily for this building :)
This work is very heavily in progress, but things are shaping up. I am using 3D Max for a year now, but due to my long pause, I have to re-learn some work techniques. Using bump maps was certainly the first thing to remember. I have been collecting different kinds of stone wall textures for a long time, formed a library for this purpose and have now a matching set of 4 variations per texture plus adjoining bump map. With 70 different textures, this makes 280 different stone wall textures with matching bump maps...
Yesterday I profited from the fact of having 5 hours free just for myself, and got finally some work done. Some ideas have been cooking in my head, so here some more details and overviews - also testing nightlights.

Stunning work , Mickebear ... I discovered only recently your BATs ...don't know why ::)... maybe due to the fact pictures on the STEX/LEX (and even on CJs/MDs ) don't give any idea of the excellence and refinement of your work ...
&apls &apls &apls
This is a fine building. I can't wait to see it!
Hello Mickebear,
I have missed this thread up till now. I can't believe why. First of all I like your work a lot. your churches and farms especially are gorgeous!
Your Villa Malcontenta has me drooling behind the computer. I simply lóve his work. the first book on architecture i bought `and not nicked from my fathers collection :D` was a reprint of the original manuscript of his ´the four books on architecture´ by Palladio.
So the annoying but immanent question is...will you make some more...
Strech.
The night lights are excellent Mika! &dance &dance &dance
god thats amazing, its so detailed!
in fact its so detailed it could be a level in a FPS set in the balkans or something. have you ever tried to make a simple 3d game?
I love the villa Mika, another great masterpiece both in the real world and in Simcity.
In fact, I have let a professional 3d artist to evaluate some of my work last week, and said that some of my buildings could make it to other games as well... oh well... I am just interested to make it for SC4 for the moment...
in any case, it is fun to start all over again, after that horrible 8 month break...
EDIT: to answer question, will I make more? Next week I will start with Villa Rotunda/Villa Capra. I have already done the calculations for it, but I am still hunting some more good photos... Then I will do the Mallorcan landmark, that Jeroni suggested in my suggestion thread. After that... haven't planned so far :)
hi my friend how are you,i cant wait to see your other work that you have in mind
Some pictures of my progress with Mika's Villas:
Villa Ottavia - a run down villa that acts as the local slaughter house. A house with a history. >:D
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi5.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fy171%2Fbarbyw%2Fottavia-1.jpg&hash=9513ddb4e4a4e45d6d3172bc2f4e1ac23b4a6781)
Villa Foscari - a villa renovated by a nouveau riche family who have made their money from perfume. ;D Starting out as lavender farmers they keep some growing by the villa to remind them. The original perfumery is still in use in the muddle of buildings that was formerly their home. They have cash but no taste $%Grinno$%
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi5.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fy171%2Fbarbyw%2Ffoscari.jpg&hash=82aec9fd1446e23420d33e1f0b1592be0c3f20cd)

Then I went to look for pictures of the real Villa Foscari and decided to make two alternative lots. The real villa sits on a river/canal so I did one for Peg's rivers and one for SG's canals.

As always comments are welcome.
This could be the best you've ever done, both Micke and Barby.
:o
Oh my..the buildings are one of the best what this game has ever seen and lotting makes these like god-like creations! WOW!
awesome work micke and barby and you know i cant wait to have them there beautifull &apls &apls
They REALLY are beautiful!!!! I haven't played that style of architecture yet, but I'm going to have to rethink this. &apls
yeah thats very very detailed  &apls
excellent work Barby and mike ;D
I am glad I saw this right before I head off to bed. Now, I will have sweet dreams of beautiful SC4 cities!
;D
Looks like a palace on the local stream, nice work :)
Wow,
These lots are gorgious. As are the models. I like the notion "Cash but no taste" Barby, it proves often too true with new found wealth :D
Villa OttaviaThe local Slaughterhouse? How the mighty have fallen! I've seen the real villa outside Padua years ago. it started as a summerresidence in around 1440 if i'm correct. but soon it was inhabited by a prior/caretaker of the santa Giustina monastery who collected the taxes in the form of wine, grain, and vegetables which were stocked in the cellars. All the farmfields around it are cultivated by the monks in the 15th and 16th century, and then let to farmers. if one of you go to Padua or the Veneto area in general. go by the villa, it stands in a pretty piece of Italy. (Please Micke, correct me on the history if I remember it incorrectly. very good choice!)
Wonderful lot, Barby. nice positioning of the sheds and outbuildings. A tastefull and rustic garden. to distinct the private and business parts of the lot. A Barby classic I should say. ;D
Villa Foscari. a Palladian Jewel! but then again I'm a biassed palladio fan :D The Bat is true to life up to the plants growing on the walls. my congratulations with this achievement Micke. The only tiny thing I could remark is that the walls of the villa (not the cornices, pillars and other decorations) are more white in RL than here and form a contrast with the pink/brown decorational elements. I believe that bleaker or whiter walls is prettier because it also will highlight the decorations more than they do now. And it will be set apart a bit from the surrounding buildings. But that would be the exact purpose of the lords who built it, would it not? to distinct ones home from the farmers around him.
This is meant as a positive critique :)
Oh and Barby, you have given the nouveau-rich snobs a wonderfull lot. it reminds of the film perfume when I look at the adjoining factory. great film! And the garden of the villa, to much in it for such a small garden. typical for those nouveau riche snobs! always malcontent and aspiring to yet more and more. the right inhabitants for 'la malcontenta' A stupendous lot my dear. (By the way, the frescoes inside the real thing are worth the visit ;) )
The lot by the canal's is a great add on. But terrible as I am, I hope you'll forgive me for this. putting stables/garages or other utilitarian buildings in frónt of a villa is a faux pas I'm afraid.
For they block the view from and onto the villa, and it brakes the symetry which was so often sought after. I like the lot very much. but would ask you to consider moving them a bit to the left. If you can agree with me.
Strech.

You are right about the placement of the stables/outbuildings, Strech. My memory played tricks with me as I knew there were buildings associated with this view, which is the back rather than the front ;D, but they are to one side. There is also a formal garden to the same side but I wanted a smaller lot with more of the original RL flavour. I shall remove the larger building and leave the small one at the farthest point. The real villa is also set further back from the river but again I did that to make a smaller lot.
Wow, thanks Barby for presenting our work at the stage we are in... As for the rest of you, you might have gathered that I am completely in team work with Barby. We are never cross, we have always the same ideas, how things should be created... perfect I should say :-)
What goes to the walls of Villa Foscari... in fact, they were recently renovated, and the whiteish look was replaced with apparently more pinkish shade. I tried with both whiteish and pinkish, and pink won this time.
However, my next work will feature Villa Capra aka Villa Rotonda, and there the walls will be whiter. I have started work yesterday evening, and it takes me probably two weeks or so to complete - I prefer my RL to batting, so I have 8 hours per week dedicated to batting...
wonderful work barby and mickebear!
Fantastic pictures of that, barby!
You are unbelievable... both of you! The villa on the river is just a dream. I get tears in my eyes when looking at such beauty. Thanks for showing this, cannot wait to have this my cities &apls
Hello you two,
Barby, I understand the nescesity of not to big lots. It wasn't meant as a harsch critique. but thank you for your reply. the rest of the lot's are wonderfull as you know
Mickebear, Ah. I did not now they were renovated recently. The last time I saw the darling building was over 6 years ago. I don't mind the wals being pinkish. it is your BAt, and your call. I just wanted to bring the point up. I look forward to it no less than before ;D
Thank you both for replying on my comments.
Strech.
I have now collected a sample of my works in Flickr - Works with 3DSMAX (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mickebear/sets/72157600324055444/)...
You get a very good presentation when looking at them through the slide show!
They are so incredibly beautyful, Mickebear!
Yes, I agree...great slideshow! I'm glad to know you are back to the BAT! ;D
Yes, as RippleJet says, makes a very good presentation of your work... oh... and it reminds me that I really have to create a city with your mediterranean stuff one day(shame on me that I didn't do so already. But eh, you know, everybody lacks time ::) ).
Second best stuff what I have ever seen for this game &apls You come second in my top batters list after prepo :)
It's so beautiful!!I love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautifull pictures Mika - the night lights are fantastic. I will be in Istria next week, and will sure be thinking that I am walking between your bats a lot there ;)
Well Bengt. To me he comes in at the top. Not sure if it's Pork or Mickebear that comes in first.
Thanks for the sideshow, slideshow..... :D
More More More!! Can't get enough of your work!
hihihihi, I love your comments on this thread :-D
Prepo is a fabulous batter and I am his fan already since he made his first works back in 2004-2005. Sebes, have a wonderful trip to Istria and take a LOT of pictures
well guys, strictly speaking, the Villa Bastide pictures were supposed to be rather here, as we decided with Barby last night that it is to be Stage 7 Farm - so I post the pictures now rather here, plus the result of my test render (It is a park lot picture, and it is not the final product, that is in Barby's hands)...
so, to have it in order, here goes:

note that I added lights to the pool:

Fantastico ¡¡¡¡ Really nice indeed ¡¡¡
( Now looking at the ingame pic, I think I'd suggest to make the external light a bit less brighter....perhaps a 10/15% ... because when it goes on the stairs, they look a bit too shiny compared to the surrounds. Of course just a suggestion. I'll download it the way it is now ;)
hiya mika my friend,
this sure is so beuatifull, you are indeed so talented, those details are amazing i cannot wait to use these in my citys,i am not using the cam so it depends if there going to be for all or cam my friend &apls &apls
Looking very good Mika, but IMO the blue colour in windows is too strong.
Thanks for your comments. For the moment, I am hesitating changing the lights on top of the stairs... The blue shutters stay IN THIS VERSION as they are (Mediterranean has very strong colours), but I did texture another version this morning. Obviously both are to be published in due course after scrutiny.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fxs218.xs.to%2Fxs218%2F07330%2Fmbear_villa_bastide_ver2.jpg&hash=9e5f7ebdfc0c19bc6b661fd12e160cf62f6ff846)
Aah, window shutters are much better now  previous ones lookd too plastic.
Both version looks awesome to me. Great work. Your eye for detail and colours is incredible.

Robin
Creatively quaint, my friend. You know how I feel about your attention to detail...the nightlighting is warm and inviting...makes me crave a bottle of Mourvèdre and cheese.
Oh I totally agree.
Nice cooling down in the pool while the sun sets. please refill my glass Threeswept. :)

A very nice building Mickebear, and very nice foto's too.

My idea is that I would really like to see this one appearing in my villages soon ;D
Not too soon, Serkanner. $%Grinno$%
hih, Barby is right, everything to its place and time :-)
I was asked if I had any thoughts ... ;) ... and I shared them, well, one of them anyway. :P
Serkanner, you are lovely (where is the icon for 'inlove')
I will have something specially for you in my back pocket then... what would you like to see?
What I would like to see is you continuing to create the most wonderful buildings for us mere mortals to enjoy in our games ...
well, now that my private life has taken the direction that I have wished for after 1,5 years (you know what and who I mean) - I have many plans for you...
i think there wonderfull &aplsi also would like to see it in my citys, hows everything going for you my friend
Beautiful as usual Mika. Looks like it should be sitting on a hillside somewhere!
This looks like another jewel! :P
Your style is terrific , Micka , I truly love it ! I intend to use your BATs for rural scenes , so that's a good new for me that you're still BATing . But the inconvenience of this style is that it is so specific ... could be an entire world alone - it doesn't fit automatically with everything else .Hmmm ... what I mean is that you're obliged to continue ! &apls &apls
helloooo my friend ! I was just having a glimpse at the forum and found out your last creations...
time for me to start simcity again ;)
glad to see you're still there
Salut mon pôte... it is a long time I didn't hear from you... a lot has happened both in Sim life as well as in private since I saw you in Paris in 2005...
