I have this region which is already established with many populated tiles. Now I wish to restrict what can grow on one particular (and not yet deleoped) tile. So I thought to make pruned version of the Plugins folder to use when working on that specific tile (switching between that and the "full" Plugins folder as appropriate when changing between tiles).
What happens is that SC4 exits with an access violation while loading the tile. How can this be? Is the approach described not valid?

Had you ever opened and saved the undeveloped tile? Perhaps you 'pruned' too much. Maybe a terrain mod? (I've had that happen)
CaptCity...indeed the tile has been opened and saved. I take it you're implying the technique I wish to use is valid, it's just a matter of me having pruned too much. So now I go hunting, see if I can find my mistake. Thank you!
Yes, the method is perfectly valid. I often do a similar thing in my 'test' region as I test different lots - just have to remember what I'm testing and where. That is why I asked about a terrain mod. It took me a while to figure out the best way to keep each separate mod along with its dependencies so as not to cause crashes upon entering cities. If you have or do use a terrain mod, it might be a place to start looking. Good luck...
Oh, I was going to ask if you've ever tried SC4 Startup Manager. It might make switching plugins back and forth a bit easier. Just a thought...
Thanks once again CaptCity! &apls
And since you asked, I have Startup Manager waiting to be installed once I arrive at a sensible way to folderise my Plugins.
