While I realise it the ads are probably needed, and I'm not that fussed about them being there (although black and white does clash) It would be pretty embarissing if my parents decided to see what I was doing on my PC and saw this: &ops

I'm not asking for the removal of the ads, but just if it's possible to have a filter or report type thing?
Jonathan
Unfortunately, the Google ads are triggered by the content of the page, and when someone is talking about girls, said ad might show up. Maybe there's a setting which prevents "adult" ads, jeronij should know that better than me. The alternative would be installing an ad filter for your browser, although that kinda defeats the purpose of those ads.
A hint for everyone who doesn't want to see those sorts of ads, and uses Firefox, get the AdBlockPlus extension. It's worth installing.
I never noticed all those ads until I visited SC4D on one of the uni computers...
But is it just me, or does there appear to be too many? If they start appearing between posts, I won't be too happy about it, as it'd ruin the flow of the topic.
Ads are good for raising revenue, but make sure they're kept down, please?
I mean, Miley Cyrus ads between forum categories? Who needs to see that...
Ooo, sandwich boards, me want! :D

You'll need to add in a few exceptions for the LEX...Adblock removes any content that uses the word "banner" and guess what? Dumbo brain here (me) called the top nav images and buttons, not to mention the frame, "banner" when I created the template. &ops So when you go to the LEX you'll lose all the top navigation if you don't add them as an exception.

I have no problems with the LEX at all... it all works perfectly fine, I never had to add any exceptions. I don't believe it removes everything with the word "banner"... it does compare it against known ads (such as adclick.net) and blocks those...

That's odd, as it happened for me until I changed the exception...
You won't have to worry about ads appearing between every post because Google only allows 3 ad units on every page. ;)

How much does ads pay for, isn't it like to 2p per click?
I've just seen some more... rather interesting ads, ;)
I tried an adblocker but it didn't work, also if everyone on the site blocks them, then why are they there?

Did you download this one? (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865)
That adblocker is made especially for Firefox... and it works extremely well. All you have to do is set it up and select the first subscription list on the Adblock Plus setup window, and it's all done!

Works great for me, thanks for the tip
I never even knew there were ads! *gasp!* I use AdBlockPlus...
I doubt I wouldn't have even noticed the ads if it weren't for this topic. I've become desensitized to ads over the years to the point where my eyes just gloss over them. (Being too cheap to pay for basic cable and therefore having to watch TV on various streaming sites tends to force one to do this)
Weren't the ads just put in recently? If not then I must have become desensitized to them too. :P

Maybe they mean something else by "1871 girls"?
Will they remove their pantaloons? We shall get rather frisky as I can spend last month's pay from the mines.

Classic!
Thanks Shadow Assassin , that blocker works. Although, now most people have an adblocker, and only a few people would want to download Simcity 4 from eastore, or buy sandwich boards, there's not much point in them.
It has been proven that ads don't bring in as much money in forums than on other sites that are more content-based, but I think most of the clicks are coming from guests, not members.
That's what I've read about and experienced, anyways.
