Hey guys welcome to my new MD. :)
As you know I played "Nullabor County" for a long time (till summer), but now I need something new.
I downloaded a new map (Santa Barbara) and new terrain mod and new tree-controller (both Italia).
I use industry quadruppler and service doubler and logically the NAM. I do not plopp buildings with jobs, so everything you see has grown "naturally". ()stsfd()

Here you see the location of Valdivia. It's a small country surrounded by Italy.

As always it looks incredible, perfect which is surprsing considering you grew it. Have you considered downloading more Jestarr for the industrial stuff though?

Wow, that's the great start on MD, Manuel! I really like it! ;)

I especially love how the railway winds through the whole town. It looks nice and realistic. :thumbsup:

@Yoman: That's a good idea, I'll do that. Maybe should use a Maxis-blocker for the industry too, like for the other sectors.

Nice start, my friend! I agree that using those NAM curves are addicting  :satisfied:

I like how the neighborhoods are set up, having the same style of housing, which gives it a realistic suburban look (at least here in the U.S. ;)). I'll be looking forward to more!

Nicely done. The city really has a small-town-feeling.

kbieniu7: Yes I know, but I think it's impossible to change that, because there is a tunnel-lot near it. I could make the sidewalk there for the whole street, but then there would be a grass-texture under the RHW. :(

but let me say some little thing : there's no fences in the bottom of the airport, It's a bit dangerous  ;)
the parkings are a bit too big  &mmm
and you put "little" plane parked at the terminal , but big plane are coming.... but it's my opinion  ;D

You are both right guys, the parkings are too big at the time the airport was built. Let's go back to the history of Valdivia to find out why. :)

"As Valdivia began to boom in the late-nineties, the country was pretty much car-orientated. After some time the government realized that the many new cars in Valdivia began to be a problem for the environment and that they cause traffic-problems. To correct these problems the government began to rebuilt railwaylines, which had been destroyed before, because nobody had used the railway anymore. They began to boost busses also. This is the traffic-history of Valdivia up to now. The picture you can see some posts up was made in the time, where the car had his boom-time. So the developers of the airport and the city of Valverdia created the airport very car-friendly. They planned big parking-lots, and as they were full all the time, they had to build multi-storey car parks too. After some years and in the maximum of the car-boom the parkings were fully stretched, because everyone who flew away came with his car to the airport and left it there for some days. "

Logically you are totally right with your reasons, I only wanted to try a little photoshopping. I'm currently working on a paper about the traffic-history of Los Angeles, so I was a bit inspired to create an own history for Valdivia. :D :P. And sorry if there are some mistakes in it, I'm not the best English-speaker. ::)

kbienu7: Thank you very much. I use the Maxis-Highway mainly as a city-highway because it doesn't need much space. Between the farms I got alot of space so I can use the RHW. And the aiport is the only place in whole Valdivia, where the two types meet eachother. :D ;D

Hey guys. Today I shot alot of pictures. And now I'd like to show you the first ones of them.
We move to the downtown area of Valdivia, which as developped pretty well in the last weeks.
The downtown area is splitted in 3 different maps, so we will go from map to map.

First a region picture. You can also see some new island in front of the Valdivian coast. They are part of the region expansion. You can see also, that 2 tiles mountains in the back had to move, because otherwise the region would get to big.  ::)

Those blocks estates and one-family houses are juest great. But in downtown I feel somtehing... likes something wrong there, but maybe it's just because I don't likes downtowns :P

blade2k5: I just love Santa Barbara. I was there this summer for some days on my USA-trip and it was beautiful there. We camped near the beach of El Capitan - amazing. :)

I just read through your entire MD, and I am very impressed. The region map looks beautiful, as well as the rural pics. The downtown shot with the plane through the fog is fantastic. If you haven't already, you should put it in the picture comp, I'm sure it would do well. I'll look for more in the best sellers soon.

It looked like imageshack is shrinking your mosaics down, I'd reupload them to photobucket or fileden for them to show up with their regular size. They look great though, really like the park ;D

Wonderful update ManuelR &apls  The industrial areas looked good, especially the slant parking of the cars.  Commercial row looked really nice too, even with all the cars on the roads, at least your economy is doing ok :D.  Must have a popular team playing within the confines of the stadium.  There's a lot of parking available :D

Yoman: In a way, too much traffic is bad - pollution and time.. But in SC I really like it, because it makes the cities alive. Without traffic they look so abandoned. :D

Hello ManuelR

The variation of road surfaces in the first picture is nice.

I also like how the shopping malls grew in your second one. I don't use plops myself and end up deleting all the 'plops' from my landmark menu when they appear. There is something organic about how the game grows stuff and sometimes they grow right. Most often they grow wrong but what is wrong anyway?  I like the surprise growables provide.

The third picture down – I like the little park and what appears to be your use of the Cycledog base textures.

I also like the grab with the train carrying Sims to their days work. I've never used underpasses but your use of it here in this picture has me rethinking.

Your city is neat. Thanks for the peek.

Those suburbs remind me of an old area in a city I used to live in that was really nice. It gives a "peaceful" feeling somehow.

and the lowrise apartment area in the 8th picture looks stunning as well. Very Nice development there.

@jmyers2043: Yes you're right, it's harder to get the buildings you want if you don't plop. But I think the game experience is much better if you play without plopping and I have alot more fun playing SC without plopping. :)
