The Grand Duchy occupies territory formerly under the domain of the French regions of Rhône-Alpes and Franche-Comté and the entirety of the Swiss canton of Geneva. Culturally, Genevra has existed since the early 1400's as the small kingdom of Bassléman, but has fallen under foreign influences for much of its history, including France during the Napoleonic Era and Switzerland in the ensuing aftermath. We begin in downtown Geneva. Old buildings of French influence still stand from the Napoleonic and later eras, however skyscrapers have begun to appear in recent years as Genevra has begun to assume an international economic role. Strict preservation of historical sites is maintained and large commercial offices have only been built were buildings damaged by war used to stand. This accounts for the sparse Genevan skyline. In this first picture we also see the Colonna Sauveur (map point 1), the reddish monument which is dedicated to all Catholic saints. The tall glass structure nearby (map point 2) is the headquarters of the Royal Monetary Exchange.

The elevated rail line is the final leg of the regional route connecting the southern towns of Carouge, Genevois and Veyrier with the capital. It descends to street level before converging on the Geneva terminus.

The Funtàna Grecca (map point 5) is a Genevan landmark and national treasure. The fountain, of the Greek god Eros, was crafted from solid gold and was a gift from the King of Prussia after the defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo. Genevra had greatly supported the Prussians during the Napoleonic Wars in the hopes of staving off Austrian dominance, only to fall victim later to the Swiss Confederation instead.

Just as a side note, can someone with a 1024x768 monitor take a screenshot of both the initial and first update and shoot them to me in a PM? I have a widescreen monitor so I want to make sure that it looks right on the average, smaller screen. Setting my resolution to 1024x768 makes it stretched and distorted so I can't really get a feel for it. Thanks! :)

Excellent work here, the lack of teasers is great :P I see that you have taken the "LE Everything" approach like emilin, squidi, and myself (all inspired by Badsim of course). I love looking at their MDs and now yours because you can look at all the little detail in every single lot. My favorite photos from this update are the ones with the elevated rail line, reminds me very much of the one that goes through Berlin. ICE-3 Looks nice on it also :P Shame that you have to capture the images while only part of the train is showing otherwise it would be missing the tail cabcar. And now for an MD/CJ cliche, looking forward to more.

The coast of Lake Léman is dotted by countless private and public marinas involved in recreational and commercial fishing as well as sailing. The crystal clear waters of the lake are meticulously maintained, zones extend from the coast inland which are areas in which industry and agriculture is banned. Sheraton sill' Costa (map point 3) is one of many luxury hotels located around the coast of Lake Léman. Tourism has slowly become a booming industry in Genevra, and five-star hotels have begun to spring up. The Sheraton hosts its own private marina, numerous amenities and direct access to the Chaminar d' Riva, also known as the Lake Léman waterfront.

The term largely refers to all of the waterfront promenades not only in Geneva, but in the various other coastal cities and towns along the lake. These stretches are often the locations of bustling local marketplaces or popular pubs, cafes and restaurants. According to a census conducted by the Genevran government, one fourth of the tourists who entered the country in 2007 did so so that they could spring a marriage proposal along the Chaminar d' Riva.

Commercial fishing is an important business and also a tightly restricted one. Family-owned companies, licensed by the government, usually own small marinas from which they trawl to fish char, perch and roach. Perch is the most popular and constitutes the national dish of Genevra, Filets de Perche. Shown here is a fishing marina (map point 2) owned and operated by the Zubriggen family, which also has its hands in the financial sector and government.

Yet another famous landmark stands at the entrance to the city; the Silvestre Bros. Distillery (map point 3). Rum is the unofficial national drink of Genevra and became popular in late 18th century when Genevran colonization of Atlantic islands and their involvement in the Atlantic System produced surpluses of sugar. The Silvestres, a prominent noble family, capitalized on this surplus and begin distilling rum. Today, their most popular brand is Alpine Gold, a regional favorite found in the pantries and cupboards of all respectable Genevrans.

Map is great as always, good idea with putting the plan of the city! Finally I see that you're really inspired by the real Geneva ;) The first mosaic is really great and realistic! It's so chaotic that it looks like a real town :D On next photos you've done great work in photoshop ;) I especially adore the rain one :thumbsup: BUT, is it just me or the billboard is a little too low! Errr... Wait... It's tall enough! Well, it seems like I don't see any cons really! :D

Here we see a shot of the length and breadth of the Alea en Sumbriva. The famous Genevran Riviera (map point 3) lies at the tail end towards the roundabout, and is a famous hotel that was built in the style of the French Riviera. Located near the train station, it is a popular hotel for business travelers arriving along regional train routes from France, Germany and Switzerland.

l'Aigle a Volé (map point 2) is a gold-plated statue of an eagle in flight that was erected after Genevra conquered the Bay of Guinea in the 1723 war with Spain. It was the beginning of Genevra's small foray into colonization. The gold extracted from Africa after conquering the Spanish colonies would be used to build the statue, a statue that symbolizes Genevra's flight and expansion from the European continent.

Damn I missed an update, got to view 2 in one sitting though, and they were lovely. I still love that elevated rail line, really reminds me of the one in Berlin as I said, too bad there are no BATs like the new Berlin Train station you could've used :P The detailing is incredible and the photoshopping is just right to add to the images, great work :thumbsup:
