Title: University of Pretoria Buildings (Models Available)
Post by: M4346 on October 12, 2008, 01:42:56 PM
Now, I'm rather useless at BAT or anything related to modeling, but I would really love BATs of my University buildings!

I stumbled upon a treasure trove of Google Sketchup models for many of the campus (and city) buildings, but I don't know if they are usable or not  ()what() ()what()

Any advice, or volunteers, would be appreciated!  ;D

I was hoping someone would answer your question. Kind of interested in knowing if this can be done.

I'd love to see these come to completion.   What a great University.

I dont know if someone would make that specific university.....  but with all the other modular projects that have come out.... maybe university/ community colleges/ trade schools might be the next project to drum up interest in?

Could be a great model university for a project we were planning at NHP while ago, but it never got started... due the lack of information and interest of the members, I was in the project but my problem is that i need some good images for every building i do recreate...

Thanks for the interest and support guys! And Heblem... I'm on campus every day of my life (almost) and am more than willing to collect the necessary visual data!

If you're interested, just let me know what you need and when. :)

As far as I know, SketchUp models can only be of any direct use if you got the Sketch Up Pro, because there you've the possibility to export the models as a .3ds file. Unfortuatly, that's no option in the free version of SketchUp (afaik).

Nevertheless, these look interesting indeed and would give an excellent addition to the game, with a little adjusting of course  :)

Good to see you back mate.  Check out JBsimios thread, he's done a University pack, which is pretty close to completion I believe.

That's 1,000 times bigger than my university, sorry but i can't take for now a huge project like this, what i can do is different buildings by specialty section of my own university (small sizes buildings) the buildings of your university are way huger and complex...

Theres an old thread at our private forum about the university project, you can see my proposed list there on first page, please take a look  ;)
