Title: YDR Kennedy Center Requirements

I have Yoder's John F Kennedy Center, but I can never earn it. My city meets (indeed, probably exceeds) all the requirements, yet when I check to see what I'm missing, it says the requirement that a Major Art Museum be in the city is unmet. This particular city has three Major Art Museums. I can't find anything wrong with the .SC4Lot file, so I'm at a loss as to why I can't earn this reward. I would greatly appreciate any help you all can offer me.

i think the major art museum it requires is the default sc4 museum gift (which has its own requirements to become available). and only 1 of these can be placed per city.

I assumed the same thing; the three museums that this particular city has are all the default Maxis major art museum. Nevertheless, I will see if demolishing two of them makes any difference.

hmm...i know when i plop the major art museum, i am no longer able to select it again (the icon becomes black and white, or ghosted) to be plopped as you are only allowed 1 per city. another way to fix this is to edit the lot (kennedy center) and remove its requirements to become available.

Be very careful about editing LUA scripts unless you know what you're doing...the reward does work but I do not know if it'll trigger if you used a cheat to get the Major Art Museum.

Perhaps I should mention that I have a mod that unlocks all rewards. That goes a long way in explaining why I have three major art museums. Off-hand, does anyone know the normal requirements for that museum?

I don't know how said mod works, but if it unlocks all rewards, then it probably tinkers with the in-game LUA scripts or the reward conditions, and your major art museums are no proper rewards anymore (and the LUA script for the Kennedy Center doesn't work properly because of this).

Hmm. So it sounds like this mod is the problem, then. I'll try uninstalling it. Thanks, Andreas!

EDIT: I just looked at the mod in the Reader (it's a 2003 mod with the filename "RH_Plugin_Rewards Unlocked.dat") and it contains exemplar files for all of the game's rewards with the "Conditional Building" boolean set to False. Would that have the same effect as modifying the LUAs? Should I still try uninstalling it?

I have checked this lot and the reward does work correctly providing you have BSC_Reward_essential.dat in the root of plugins. Please check that you have that file and if not download the latest version of BSC Essentials  (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=443) from the LEX. Do not use the Cleanitol file AFTER installing the Essentials.

That explains it then. I had that file in two subfolders, but not in the root directory. I have updated my files to the latest BSC Essentials, and now it's in the root. That sounds like that should be enough to make it work.

It did with me when I checked it out this morning. I took the Rewards Essentials out but made sure I had all the other requirements in a city - not offered. I exited without saving put the Rewards Essentials back and went back into game. I placed the last museum and Bingo it was offered. :thumbsup:
You should only ever have one copy of the BSC Essentials and BSC Rewards Essentials in plugins and they should bein the root not a sub folder.

I removed the mod I mentioned earlier, just to make sure it wasn't interfering with the Rewards Essentials, yet I still wasn't offered the JFK Center. I'm beginning to wonder if that mod had more of an effect on my cities than I thought possible; even without it, I still had access to all the vanilla rewards. (I checked, and I don't have any other reward-unlocking mods installed.)

You may need to access each city in the region where you originally had the mod. Enter each city and let it run for a while then Save and Exit. Try this with each city then return to the first and see if it has made a difference. Occasionally bits and pieces of mods and lots are left in the Savegame file until you have run the game without them and saved again.
