Title: Multi-page forum threads
Post by: buckbeach on December 20, 2008, 12:23:49 PM
How does one select a page in a thread that is not in sequence?  Example: A thread has 47 pages and the page selection reflects 1,2,3,4__ 47 and I wish to look at page 27.

When you click on 4, 5 and 6 will appear and then you click on 6 and 7 and 8 will appear, keep doing that till you get to 27. Unfortunately there is no jump to option, but it doesn't matter as you'll get to the page in the end ;)

I was hoping that wouldn't be the answer.  Some threads are in the hundreds and who can reread those in one setting.

Thank you for your response.

twenty posts per page, so the twentieth reply appears on the second page.

the .0 at the end of the url is the number of the post in topic 6592, (this topic as it happens) just change that number to the number of posts you want. your example gives 20* (27-1) (as 27 would give you the first post on page 28) = 540 so ?topic=6592.520 would (hopefully) give you the 27th page. (I tried it in 3RR and got the right answer :))

You can try changing the number after the dot in the address, eg it should take you faster there but it is very hit and miss eg:
http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=112.80 takes you to page 5 of the 3RR thread (of which there are now 300 pages;)

Joe beat me to it and explained it better :)
