Hey, I'm loving the expanded NAM place; there's tons of information that wasn't here when I first started posting or reading here.
But what I really seem to need is a catalog of puzzle pieces. There are more with every release, and this release comes with RHW pre-loaded, which is really a big change, and I find there's so many pieces I don't know about, or remember how to create.
So, has anyone compiled a list of the puzzle pieces? What tool they're on? What order? What and where the TE connections are?
Heck, I don't even have a list of those for the default game...

There is a list in the readme, of each project including the NAM, but it is just a text list with no pictures or further description.

I think it would be extraordinarily helpful if such a catalog were compiled, complete with pictures and descriptions.
assuming that a person used all the custom traffic content available..
Would anyone care to take a "ball-park figure" guess as to how many TOTAL
puzzle pieces are now in the game ?
Brian
There are:
22 Maxis
55 RHW (exc RHW over X)
21 ped mall pieces
14 street pieces (inc SAM)
77 Road pieces (inc RHW over Road)
41 OWR pieces (inc RHW over OWR)
55 Avenue Pieces (inc RHW over Avenue)
82 Rail pieces (exc RAM)
192 Light Rail (GLR/ELR) pieces (inc Fenced GLR)
57 Monorail (inc HSRP)
49 Highway pieces
So 665 in total :)
Rough count, as I probably missed some, and there are others that are not included in the current NAM (such as RAM/NWM)
It takes time to take pictures and catalog all of those, for no functionality in game. So don't expect one anytime soon.
Just load up a test city and plop pieces and see whats new, much more fun anyway then looking at a list.

why, how nice of you to volunteer
if you make this catalogue, could you also create some 44x44 icons for each puzzle piece? That way, I can easily put together some DAMN menus :)
even better with ID's too :) so can be easily wikified :D

Of course, I would just
love to do this project. Unfortunately, I'm already overloaded with what I've committed to do here, so I will regretfully have to pass on it. My original comment was made to encourage someone else who has a bit more time available. :)
I also appreciate Jonathan's comments about what to do in the mean time, which is what I've been doing, but I think such a catalog would really speed things up for many people. I know for me it would. And although Jonathan's right in that it doesn't directly add functionality, by making it clearer what everything is, for many people it would give them access to features they didn't know existed. In those cases, it would be equivalent to adding functionality. It could be a very good job for someone who's not into modding, but wants to contribute something to the game.
Maybe Joe could do it :P

Heh! Where's Frodo [linkie] (http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Frodo_Baggins) when you need him?
David
Well, I can take pictures of them, but I don't know the functions of all the pieces. For instance, I never seem to be able to get pedestrian ferries to connect.
Starting with a list is a good place. 665, you say? O-o
