whats wrong with this???
als those weird blocks are in my screen...
i have this with water as you see in screenie.
and with traffic also, or when i place road, als those weird blocks pop up. and they screw up my game vieuw...
I'm having the same problem on my iMac, but don't have it on my PowerBook G4. I was told it might have to do with hardware acceleration, so you may be able to fix it by switching to software acceleration. But I'm not sure.
It's not so much a problem with hardware acceleration as it is a problem with your video settings. SimCity 4 is an old game and doesn't support the advanced features of modern video devices, such as anti-aliasing or anti-strophic filtering. You need to either turn these options off or set them to application-controlled. While your more modern games will support these features, SimCity won't. It was designed back when few games used these advance video display features.

oK thanks but how do i turn those options off?
because in the simcity 4 I dont see those options?
please help me its annoying at some building parts
the comments by Swamper77 regarding the video setting refer to your computers video card....not the game. you are getting this problem because you need to set your computer up correctly. this is done from the operating system, not the game.
ok those blocks are gone now(you see them in first screenie in first post)
but now

my roads are screwed up.
i just tried some setting of my catalyst control center. but it doest fix these road without bringing back those stupid block like things.
what now ()sad()
Dexist,
What is the problem with the roads? Is it they aren't being used or is it they aren't showing up on the map properly? Some more details are needed than just "my roads are screwed up".

the road work fine that not the matter.
but they look weird.
just take a look at the picture in the first post those roads have smoother lines then the road in the second picture.
Do you use software mode now? I noticed that the road textures look a bit grainier that way, since the graphics card can't use any antialiasing filters anymore.
Dexist,
In your first picture, you had the roadway running with the grid, so it appears to have "smoother" lines than a roadway running at an angle, such as the oneway roads in your second picture. Diagonal images tend to appear "rougher" than the others. The pixels on your screen are all squares, which is why the diagonals look "blocky" compared to the textures running with the grid.
Since you mentioned "Catalyst", I can determine that you have an ATI video card. Some people have no problems with ATI cards and SC4. Others like myself had constant problems and switched to Nvidia when we could. For me, I had graphics issues and crashes while using the ATI card I used to have. Most of those went away once I switched to a Nvidia card. The crashes are fewer and usually result of me and not the system.
As I stated in my first reply to you, the game was never designed to take advantage of the better graphics options that the newer video cards provide. You're just going to have to live with how the game looks because it doesn't support the advanced features on the newer graphics cards.

Well road with running with the grid look the same as that diagonal one.
Ah well i can live with it.
Thanks anyway &apls
