Title: Challange 2 - Let There Be More Light! (and water...)
Post by: Sheep49 on April 10, 2009, 12:16:38 PM
Bordertown was starting to look like a small town somewhere in the North-western America. Though soon it was realised that without electricity or water, there are absolutely no chances for their town to develop further. So it was soon decided that a Powerplant and a water source should be built. Thus, the architect named Casper von Treebaum has been given a chance to plan the complex.

Soon, a new, big power station complex was built just east to the Bordertown, called 'Boil's Power Station'. However, soon a new part was added to the building, thus it was renamed 'Boil's Power Station and Water Tower'. And this is how it looks like (together with some explanations what is what):

A -> The main part of the complex - an oil-powered powerplant able to give electricity to 25.000 Sims.
B -> Water tower, from which the town is given some water.
C -> A super-modern underground installation that filters water is accessed from this building.

The pipes from there on go to the...

Fresh water source! Don't get fooled by the size of that pond, though. There's a big underground lake under it!

But of course, someone has to work in the powerplant and water-realted utilities. That's why the decision was made, to build a new estate for workers. Here it is:

And finally, the overview of the area, just to satisfy your eyes :P

Oh, and the new road! Well, I decided to build it like that because it would be a good idea to have a connection with all thre neighbouring regions, right? So here it is!

I couldn't come up with anything that would cover 3 tiles, and I know I'll get some minus points for that, but really, I had fun doing that challange and I don't let some first better road ruin the good humour for me ;)

Have a nice day :)
Piotr

EDIT: Fixed the picture link
EDIT2: Forgot to mention: all the pics were taken on tile D!

Your challenge 2 is well done according to the rules and the demands. You can now play on 2 more citytiles anywhere in your region. This will be a part of challenge 3. Make sure that you have at least 100 citizens each in all three tiles you played in (no population max limit).

Next time when we ask for a regionpicture, we need to see the whole region. Thank you.

Judging of Challenge 2

Please show us a total picture the next time we ask for a regional picture. Partial pics will be penalized in the future.

A.   It was a fairly good choice of location of the new route but a little insufficient to cover more access to new terrains. We gave you 3 points for the route challenge.
B and C.  Good to combine both power and water in one location. Great use of lots and excellent location. Because of the worker's homes being so close to the plant and using a polluting energyplant close to water sources, we gave you 4 points for the watersystem and because the installation of the energyplant looks so darn good, we were able to give you 4 points for the powerchallenge also.

A Total of 11 Points were added to your challenge.

Congratulations, fairly well done, could have been better if the water system was a little further away from the oilburning plant and the housings of the workers elsewhere, but basically good job with both challenges. Nice watersource. Good luck with the next challenge.
