when i added some new ones into nightwindows folder i only can see 14 of them in BAT, not 30, and there are no original maps anymore(green,beige..)
how to fix it?
Did you place them into separate folders ?
One folder - 5 textures in different sizes: 33x33, 66x66, 132x132, 256x256, 400x400
i did everything properly
i even made my own maps and they work and show up in gmax but list always contains max 14 maps, if i add one more(if i make 1 myself) then some map's place will be replaced with this.
and sometimes when i want to load a gmax file this shows up:
The Scene XRef file: "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner.IANSMACH\My Documents\GMAX 3D Models\zzCamLightRigs\TB2_CameraLightRigHuge_fixed_v1.gmax" can not be found
and then i see no building
As vester said, the image folders must be directly under Maps\Nightwindows (not under additional subfolders) and each must contain the 5 images ONLY.
Windows creates files named thumbs.db (for fast thumbnail views). If gmax finds these files in the image folders it won't display them in the list. You should remove them (you may also need to change your files and folders settings - these are considered "system files"), but do so after first changing the view mode for these folders (and for Nightwindows too) to be not "Thumbnails", otherwise Wndows re-creates them.
i dont have any thumbs.db files in these folders and i noticed that i had images in the folders as thumbnails, u said that must be disabled or it wont show in the bat and i made them to look like symbols and it got worse ,i dont see any map in the list
i played with some folder options but i couldnt figure out what u mean
i dont have english version of windows(xp)...
Most probably they are there, but they are hidden. If you have switched in thumbnails view for these folders even once, those files have definitely been created. Also the case if you visit these folders and you are in thumbnail view. Then BAT finds this file in the image subfolders and regards them as containing 6 files!
Recommended actions (in English, sorry I don't speak Chinese :)):
- Open the explorer, go to folder gmax\gamepacks\BAT, right-click on the Maps folder and select Properties; go to the Customize tab and in the "Use this folder as a template" drop-down change the value to "Documents (for any file type)", and check the "Also apply this template to all subfolders" check-box.
- Then go to the Maps subolder and in the menu select View->Details. Do the same for NightWindows and all subfolders (those containing the images) one-by-one.
Now all these folders are in Details view mode.
Then you have to delete the thumbs.db files. Try the following:
- In (any) explorer window select Tools->Folder Options and click on the View tab.
- Set options as following:
- "Hidden files and folders" : set to "Show hidden files and folders"
- "Hide extensions for known file types" : uncheck
- "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" : uncheck
- Click OK
- Go to your My Documents\My Pictures folder (this folder definitely contains a thumbs.db file) - you should see this file, plus another one named Desktop.ini.
- Now that you are sure you can see these files, go again to the gmax\gamepacks\BAT (using another Explorer - in Details view mode please), right-click on the Maps folder, select Search, and in the filename type-in thumbs.db and click Search.
- Wait for the search to complete, and in the Search Results window select all thumbs.db files found and delete them.
- Repeat the above procedure, for Desktop.ini this time.
- Open BAT, you should see all nightwindows.
You may restore the Folder Options to their original settings, if you wish, and REMEMBER, NEVER OPEN YOUR NIGHTWINDOWS FOLDERS IN THUMBNAIL VIEW MODE!
Hope this helps
