Title: Over the Handrail (need helps for modeling)
Post by: MAS71 on May 03, 2009, 10:56:41 AM
at first, I didn't able to judge where categoly I should post it. (MODELing ? or EXPORTing ?)
Please move my post if I missed. (and please change a title of post too) :-[

Please give me your any helps or advice for my little issue. ;)
Few days ago, I had try to make canal that flows through under the Ground-Line. --> JRP-Suburban Canal (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=2897.msg242840#msg242840)
I had a little problem with End-Piece PROP this time.

I did Modeling and LODing like these.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg412.imageshack.us%2Fimg412%2F3057%2Fhowto01.gif&hash=7fba9aea183ccf23294b83cd22716193925af78e) (http://img412.imageshack.us/my.php?image=howto01.gif)

!! Please pay attention to around the Handrail !!
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg412.imageshack.us%2Fimg412%2F1736%2Fhowto02.gif&hash=b6ad772b15e9bc2e0cd2855206aac8d69e2acb77) (http://img412.imageshack.us/my.php?image=howto02.gif)

You can see a useless element has been included in a PROP.(scene in back of handrail)  &mmm
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg412.imageshack.us%2Fimg412%2F2765%2Fhowto03.gif&hash=49cd775f0f02a291f11082e728ddc98135fa1528) (http://img412.imageshack.us/my.php?image=howto03.gif)

I had try to make a "Cover" to a drain over the Hnadrail with color black for mask of FSH.(R00,G00,B00)
but I could not solved a issue, I got same result.
and
I tried to make LOD to shape uped.(improve one's figure as much as possible)
however, in this case, I could not solved it about a part of aperture of the handrail..... ()sad()

I want to know good method or any advice to break off this problem.  "$Deal"$
Do you have any idea ??  ()what()

By the way,,,
I took these way for issue.(about my JRP-SC)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg246.imageshack.us%2Fimg246%2F4648%2Fhowto04.gif&hash=dd83baba63ff1b23a96f891c6b5d35376a127741) (http://img246.imageshack.us/my.php?image=howto04.gif)

and add a "Cover" with a property of "Invisible to Camera" to prevent an unnecessary reflection.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg242.imageshack.us%2Fimg242%2F4413%2Fhowto05q.gif&hash=d31ba2161130219e544cd5f2db499df0f14bac83) (http://img242.imageshack.us/my.php?image=howto05q.gif)

This PROP is very small, so we can not notice well about a strange thing in a PROP.
however, I could not solved it for perfect in a angle.... :P

Hi Mas,

I was stopping by and saw your question.  I had a similar issue when I was working on my dam, and what I found as a solution is actually, applied to you're case, to render the hand rails as a separate prop placed right on top of the rest of the model in lot editor.  I'll try to explain how I did it without being too confusing.

I'll start with the main part of the model.
Then you'll do basically the opposite to create the rail prop.
Since both will be rendered in the correct position relative to the scene's center, their offset now allows you to place the center of each final prop in the same spot in lot editor and they should line up perfectly as if it had been rendered as one prop.  This can be used in any case where a section of a model overhangs another section but you don't want that background section showing up on the overhanging part.

I know, i know, that was probably still quite confusing :D, but if you have questions ask and I'll try to clarify it.  After you get it down and do it a couple of times, it's not that bad.  Also, since you're splitting up the scene into several to render separately, it's best to wait until you've finalized the scene before doing this, as otherwise you find yourself having to update several versions of the same scene instead of just the one.

@Chrisadams3997 san

Hi Chris san  :)
Thank you so much for reply with polite explanation. ;)

Yes, I could understand very well !!
The Way to that "Divide to 2 kind of PROPs" while used "Visible Camera" and "Invisible Camera"
I rememeber that I'v used this way in my JRP.  ;D
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg520.imageshack.us%2Fimg520%2F2543%2Fimage2jla.jpg&hash=5e363ee766b843b5e397ea5b6a9d46d105e7abdc) (http://img520.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image2jla.jpg)

I don't yet understand well about operating with Max. :P
so I want to know that "Is there any method with a function of the Max ?"
but
I convinced now that it's good method for solved it thanks for Chris san.  ;)

Thank you again Chris san for took your time. :)
