You can't build a bridge when there are other buildings under it (in your case it's a canal). Can you please post a picture of that bridge over a canal you've seen? (it could be a transit enabled lot for example)
i can not remember where i saw it but i have seen bridges go under bridges and land bridge type things like you build up the land on both sides and drag a bridge across and i have seen buildings under them. i will look around again to see if i could find what i saw just thought there was a technique to it. thanks
It is possible to build bridges with certain things beneath them, but it depends on a couple things. First you need to demolish your canal and use the "rain water" trick to create a small area of water that you will build your bridge over. Save and exit to the region. (There are a couple tutorials for this method floating around) Return to your city and the water will be gone but your bridge will remain. Then you need to find an under brige piece which will actually plop on a tile to the side of the bridge and extend beneath it. I just can't recall for certian if the SG canals contain such a piece.
Hope that helps get you started!

Demolish just the section you want to cross with the bridge and a couple sections to each side. Check out this tutorial and see if it helps with what to do next. >>>[linkie] (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=364.0)

Thanks for clearing that up, Gaston! By no means did I mean to demolish the entire canal... I guess that's what happens when I'm trying to hurry through posts just before serving breakfast at work! :D
