Hello :)
I have an addon that replace the original train with this beauty...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg33.imageshack.us%2Fimg33%2F1293%2Ftraink.jpg&hash=ccf7b2d757e9bc64bcf4e817ae102f6fd5c7f45d)
... and i would like to know if there are mods that add new passenger trains, so i can have the above beauty plus new extra trains ;D &dance
There are mods for passenger trains that extra cars besides the normal passenger car, such as an Amtrak set I used to use that had a baggage car and a dinning car. However, such extra cars will be mixed in with the rest of the cars that make up the passenger train. There isn't a way to tell the game to make trains with specific engines and specific passenger cars.
As for that particular rail vehicle you showed, the only real option to make that show up in addition to the passenger train is to make it replace the default green track checker model. However, in doing so, it will show up near any rail lot that gets placed from the Rail menu such as passenger and freight stations.

@Terring7: Excuse me for not answering your question (I have no idea..), but what mod are you using that adds catenaries on the elevated rail..?

I believe it the Rail Catenaries Mod [ link ] (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=21200) by Plundere which is on the STEX
That's right, the Rail Catenaries Mod :)
(I don't have the Single Track Rail so i don't have the newer version (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aparadektoi.gr%2Fsmforum%2FSmileys%2Fdefault%2F65.gif&hash=914ec2a32c9d04b13619f52eff3f3c13bff037e9))
Thanks a lot.
I've actually downloaded the mod, but I'm currently not using it, as I'm hoping for a SFBT Catenaries version. ;)
Didn't know that the mod added catenaries on elevated rail (and bridges, I suppose) as well. Great, though.

Hello :)

Better late than never I suppose, but have a look over at SFBTs website Simcityplaza (http://www.simcityplaza.de/), Oppie once made a bunch of skins which replace the default Maxis train.
The drawback is that You can only use one at a time and they might replace the mod You have now.
However Kenworth have released a skin (http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=735) that do not replace any locomotive but adds a new one (I´ve tried it myself and it works), but if it is suitable for You I don´t know (It´s a german BR 143)...
Best of luck!
I'm currently using this skin (not the additional but the replacer, though), and it looks real good. Especially on a rail network with catenaries.
@Terring7: I assume you downloaded the "Regionalbahn_DoStos.dat" to get the double decker passenger carriages.
- Are the carriages used on the BR143 only, or do they show up on your other skin as well?
Btw, I know I've seen your other skin a thousand times before (the blue "beauty" ;)), but now that I wanted to try what I asked you myself, I can't seem to find it. So typical.. Would you mind telling me where to find it, or what to search for, please?
If You are referring to the DoStos, have a look over at Simcitykurier, I suppose You can use them with any locomotive You want as I believe they replace the normal passenger carriages (meaning that if You install the DoStos You can´t have any other carriages at the same time).
That's true. What I meant to ask you was if the carriages also showed on your blue train.
The blue train (which I do not remember the name of) would look terrible hauling the DoStos. I'd like to know if the DoStos are hauled by the ("additional" mod) BR143 only, when used simultaneously with the blue reskin ("replace" mod).
If the blue train doesn't call for carriage automata, my question is answered.
Do you know where to get that blue reskin? If I find it, I can experiment a little myself. It's quite hard to explain what I'm thinking of in a foreign language.. May be I should ask you the same in Norwegian? ;)
Ja, bare spør du... ;)
Translation for non-Norwegian spoken players:
If I have understood correctly, the train in the pic above is modded in such a way that You won´t get any carriages behind it.
Unfortunately I don´t know where Terring7 has got the skin, but it might be worth having a look over at Simtrop...
Tusen takk. :)
Dette var akkurat det jeg lurte på. Jeg har uansett funnet det blå toget på LEX, og skal sjekke om moddingen er slik vi antar. I såfall vil det vel være mulig å få to helt ulike togsett i spillet.
Translation:
Thank you so much. :)
This was an exact answer to my question. Btw, I've found the blue train in the LEX, and I'll check if the modding is done as assumed. In that case, it should be possible to get two completely different train sets in the game.
For those who are interested:
I tried the TSC TER train skin (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1956) together with the additional locomotive and the DoStos from <a href="http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=970>the Regional runner/Regionalbahn set</a>. The goal was to determine whether it was possible to have two completely different kinds of trains in the game.
The train mods used had to obey these rules:
1. One had two be a "replacer" (TSC TER), and the other an "additional" (BR143).
2. Only one train should call for passenger car automata (DoStos).
I was hoping that the TSC TER was modded in a way that it wouldn't call for the passenger cars, as it's design is based on two locomotives facing in opposite directions (possibly with a passenger section in between). Also, the TSC TER appears to be longer than the Maxis standard length, as the whole train follows the track in one unit (there are no joints in between the units of the train).
Unfortunately, testing revealed that both trains called for passenger car automata, causing the cars to show behind the TSC TER as well as behind the BR143. Of course, the TSC TER looks simply stupid pulling the DoStos..
A different "replacer" skin than the TSC TER will probably not cause any problems, as a plain locomotive is designed to pull carriages. Beware, though, that e.g. the NSB, ICE, TGV (...) skins are meant to be used as a whole, where the locomotive matches the design of the carriages. This means that any other locomotive, even the BR143, may look strange pulling these carriages.
I have to mention that the "error" in my testing is related to appearance only - not gameplay related, but just not realistic.
Finally, my question to any modder reading this:
Is it possible to mod a train, such as the TSC TER, that do not call for passenger carriage automata? Is it even possible to simulate passenger usage without the adding of carriages? And finally, if one just wants different trains to appear, I guess the TSC TER could be modded to replace the green railroad checkers (given that it is a one-unit train)?
Puh.. I think that's all.. For now. ;)
