Title: Challenge 6
Post by: mattb325 on June 14, 2009, 02:58:39 AM
Time for some R&R

With the region now re-united, the checkpoint on the north of the Capital (on Tile E) is less controlled along Route 10. The P.C.N.T. have instructed their guards to now smile
when barking "Passporte" to travellers from the South. Even the church has been renamed in honour of this event. The snipers still positioned in the bell-fry, however, are
under no such obligation to smile.

But the mayor is not concerned with such things, for he is off on a summer holiday.

Tile K, with its beautiful outlook, glorious sandy beaches, stunning island and towering mountain peak has long been admired for its picturesque qualities since Route 2 went through.
I am grateful the seperatists did not choose to develop this tile as the regions' resort builders had long hoped for the land here....

BEACHES

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FBordertown%2FChallenge%25206%2FBeachBanner.jpg&hash=76d5463aab858916532363adb497c3803a817aad)

The first image shows the overview for our vacation with its glorious beaches. As you will soon see, there is as much, or as little, to do as you like....

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FBordertown%2FChallenge%25206%2FBeachBanner2.jpg&hash=48638073712c5cdb61a025b8d75cba301e5579b2)

With so many atractive sandy spots to catch a wave, rent a boat or just relax and people-watch, you will be spoilt for choice.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FBordertown%2FChallenge%25206%2FSurfMainBeachSunset.jpg&hash=ece25ae788fb5a9c6f753693f0e820ba5bdf7b56)

But for many, the lure of the king tides on main beach at sunset is simply too much: as this old brochure from the 1980s shows.

MOTELS

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FBordertown%2FChallenge%25206%2FMotelBanner.jpg&hash=02542d124543bce043215b14295ed809f7e63777)

Seen from a different vantage, Tile K has many resorts and motels catering for all budgets and tastes.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FBordertown%2FChallenge%25206%2FMotelBanner2.jpg&hash=d429d4296e7b93824a1944f682452bbd795dd555)

Boutique Resorts, Beach Bures, Beach Condominia, and the Tropicana Resort all tempt visitors to part with their cash....

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FBordertown%2FChallenge%25206%2FLuxuryMotel.jpg&hash=ee2851580b2a46139120adc9da6ef7c71b3d912d)

But the RLS resort is far and away the best with double height ocean apartments, self service studios and 5 star service room service. You will of course catch the ferry from
the mainland and stay here  ;)

RESTAURANTS

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FBordertown%2FChallenge%25206%2FRestaurantBannerMain.jpg&hash=5d97b06ba45a07473b3352f8553ede2e8e375c1a)

Of course, in a place like this, restaurants abound not only on the island, but along the promenade and in the centre of town near the theatres and cinemas and even the golf course.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FBordertown%2FChallenge%25206%2FRestaurantBanner.jpg&hash=2ea90ebe311085cdee1d1a7430d7e69c56ffd7fd)

Hungry after a swim? Grab a seafood basket on the wharf or beer battered chips and an ice-cream. Perhaps something more substantial is in order? The Buffalo Wings and
Lucky Dragon are just across the road. Or, if you have been to the cinema or the theatre, perhaps, the award winning Horizon restaurant is more your style. Otherwise,
you may wish to venture to the "19th Hole" at the country club after an gentle round. Set in world class gardens, this club specialises in modern cuisine.
But a stay at the ocean is not complete without lunch on the terrace of the Marina - here, crisp linen and polite table service meld with old favourites such as chowder, oysters,
marinara and tempura prawns in a bright and peaceful setting. Of course, after all this eating, you may wish to walk it off - where better than the boardwalk for a moonlit stroll?

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi42.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe311%2Fmattb325%2FBordertown%2FChallenge%25206%2FRestaurantsNite.jpg&hash=1fd4a19184e372198e993812eefb5be16b4a8ec0)

But when only the best will do, nothing beats the 13 course degustation menu with matching French wines by the glass at the 5-star "Summit" of the RLS resort. This revolving
restaurant has stunning 360 degree views of the surrounding ocean and the twinkling lights of the surrounding towns make for a truly breathtaking evening.

Here is the view from your sea-plane:

Hello Matt

Here's my judgement:

1. Bordercrossing: Excellent idea with the church. 4 points

2. Beach: Beautiful beaches. Looks a bit empty for a resort town though. 4 points

3. Hotel: Fantastic hotel. Excellent setting. 5 points

4. Restaurant: Great range of choices. It must be a special experience to dine in the ocean sunset. 5 points

This gives a total of 18 points

*edit* which makes you my personal topscorer

Hi mattb325,
here's my opinion on your Ch. 6:

1. Bordercrossing: Another "Toll"-Checkpoint and not lonely at all, but on a stange place, right between houses? Seems likeone neighbour doesn't belong to the other ones.  3 Pts.
2. Beach: As I said before: Changing the ground beach textures seemed like the best idea for me, too. but then I realized how crappy it looks in regionview. That's more the case in your pics than I've seen before, though you had a better eye on what's planted on this beach. 4 Pts.
3. Hotel: As you showed so many hotels, I just take one, the RLS and give you, because of only getting there by ferry and the dirt road in front, 3 Pts. The others would each have been 3 Pts, too.
4. Restaurant: I like the restaurant-hotel-all-in-one, but there seems not to be much choice on the island  4 Pts.

That's a total of 14 Points.

My points:

1. Border crossing - it took a lot of searching to find the border crossing. Not sure that would work well.  2 pts
2. Beach - interesting variety but the images are a bit small  4 pts
3. Hotel - good choice of luxury hotel  5 pts
4. Restaurant - high life dining at its best 4 pts

Total points: 15

Border crossing is simple and unobtrusive. Not sure snipers in the bell tower are appropriate for the level of peace the sides are experiencing. 3 points.

Hotels: great designs and variety: 5 points

Restaurants: again witht he variety and styles: 5 points

Beach: expansive, sandy and inviting: 5 points

18 points
