Title: NHP FLOG - Modular Golf Pack
Post by: jplumbley on March 27, 2007, 02:59:41 PM
I am pleased to announce....

NHP has moved past the realm of mapping and is aspiring to reach New Horizons.  We started a project about 5 weeks ago, nicknamed Freakish Links Of Gophers (after the movie Caddy Shack).  We set out to test ourselves in the realm of modding and lotting.  With some help along the way from Barbyw(modding expertise) and Jeronij(lamppost prop).

The project has turned out to be one of the greatest combined efforts I have ever been a part of and has brought us closer together as a group!  And now our project is in the testing phase of its development.  This thread is for now the testing grounds for the next week or two for pictures and comments.  I hope you all enjoy what this project has become.

Release Date is set for about 2 weeks from now.  (just a few loose ends to clean up before final release)

Included in the project:(specs will come later)
     NHP FLOG Holes Vol1
A set of 9 modular hole lots ranging from 2x5 in size to 4x9 in size.

     NHP FLOG Fillers Vol1
          A set of 8 filler lots (5)1x1s and (3)2x2s.

     NHP FLOG Paths Vol1
A set of 4 path lots that connect with each hole.

     NHP FLOG Clubhouse
One lot that will be a reward lot (a future pack may be released with more clubhouses)

List of Dependancies expected for the entire project:
     CSX Mega Props - Vol1 to 5
     CSX BAT Props - 2006a
     CSX BAT Props - 2006b
BSC MEGA Props - Gascooker Vol01
BSC Mega Props - SG Vol 01
BSC Textures Vol1 (the one downloaded from SC4DLEX)
     NHP UI Essentials
NHP Prop Pack Vol 1 (to be made soon)
Cycledoggs Trees (I forget the actual file names) No7, No8, No9

Not a problem Hable!  Nice picture!  I see the query is working.  What do you think about the Budget stuff is it a good cost, or too expensive or not expensive enough?

Nice project, I'll be able to try to copy the golf courses settings of the many ones I have near by where I live. I have at least 10 golf courses in a radius of 20 kms, and usually when I go for my ride bikes I pass just by them. If you guys need photos, I can take some this next weekend (Sunday).

JP, I just done something very simple last night. It is a proposal for the clubhouse. it's a fairly mordern look, and the shape resembel some golf element. of curse it is just a proposal, lots of thing can be changed. I am not sure if everyone prefer a more traditional looks like the ingame clubhouse. just let me know.

Dms That is simply awesome!  I totally love it!  Go for it, this can be part of the future Clubhouse pack.  What will the size of hte footprint be on that?  Can you get it to 3x3 or 4x4 maximum? 3x5 wouldnt be too bad either.  That way I can fit it on a lot with parking, pick-up and drop-off area, etc in a lot under 10x10.

I like both Habs and dms club house designs.  As for which one, how about making them both club houses and giving the downloader the choice of which one they'd like to use?  Just a thought for you to ponder on.  Other than that, this golf course project is shaping up really nice.  Excellent work guys.

heh heh heh,

Hableurg goes from putting down his work, to creating a marvelous building in like an hour.

Ya really turned on the jets for that one!! Maybe both lots (dms and Hab) could be combined into a compound clubhouse with a driving range and parking lot included on them. What do you think?

I think you should work some more on this one....is a really spectacular model

Hableurg, your model is also looking really nice. Another style, but really nice. May I make a few suggestions before you make the final render?
The tile in the pool floor do not look very eye-candy... not sure what is the problem with them, but maybe it is only my eyes  ::)
The water texture looks too repetitive. You could try with a bigger texture, or play with the actual and try to make it more seamless.
The tenis courts scale....If my building's scale perception is correct, only one tenis court could be placed in that small space...

The model itself is really really nice, and the more I look to it, the more I like it  ;)

Holy crap... I go away for the night an look at what Hable does.

Awesome work.  On the second floor in the SE wing of the building can you make it a balcony type area with railings instead of windows... You havent put windows in yet so that is probably what you were going to do anyways.  I agree with Jeronij on the water texture, try what he said :P

To clear things up a bit.  Blade2k5... That is an awesome idea and has been my plan from the begining.  I have a clubhouse lot made from existing Gascooker models, but these two buildings will be better than what I came up with.  Nevertheless, all three lots will be released as separate uploads so users can choose which one they like best.  Also, each of these 3 lots will be a reward lot with the same stats as the in-game Country Club stats.  So, if you were to download all 3 of them you would be able to have 3 clubhouses for 3 different golfcourses in 3 different areas of the city.  But, like the in-game Country Club each Clubhouse will only be allowed to be plopped once, this is to make a limitation on the amount of demand relief you will recieve and promote variety.  I am pleased to say we now have a post-modern model coming along from Dmscopio and a classic mediterrainian/mexican style model from Hable.  And my english style lot with models from Gascooker.

okey a couple things to do...

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg118.imageshack.us%2Fimg118%2F7003%2Ffixmiekf6.jpg&hash=4b36d8a670d59490d98f793318e5f230575dcd1d)
-Need to fix the tennis court, so by making only one? or just more in other side of the building? dunno just helpi me at this? or should I remove it...

-Need to fix the pool water and walls, the wall texture I got from this one... ( I made it by fireworks)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg479.imageshack.us%2Fimg479%2F9309%2Fpoolpared2fz7.jpg&hash=e65875e2a86fed81848840db5e9d2c1aa1489260)
and the water texture:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg71.imageshack.us%2Fimg71%2F474%2Faguaoy4.jpg&hash=0f0c5f58a012f8946d2bc3b84a101ac3b9899b02)

That part without windows its a balcony, so will be as you see it, do you want me in adding anything else in there?

Thanks for the help  ()stsfd()

Hableurg, I think make only one tennis court, then Jason you may release a pack of tennis courts :)

I have not comment on the clubhouse, so far the pool is really impressive, and I think if you can keep the night effect you have with the caustics textures then go !

DMS, Impressive, I second Jeroni, continue working on this !

@Hable  I think that the balcony looks good... I think some black railings would fit their nicely.
Title: Re: NHP FLOG - Modular Golf Pack
Post by: HabLeUrG on March 31, 2007, 05:08:00 PM
i tried to add some flora instead of black railings, but my computer laggs when i copy plants (because of many polygons that the plant haves) so should I make the plants base taller?

About the pool I agree with wouanagaine, sorry jeronij but for my eyes I see it perfect  :)

Im thinking in remove the tennis court and let in blank (because is a bit unreal to have a tennis court next to crystal windows..  ::)

BTW: black railings is pasamanos in spanish? according with google translate, lol

sory fur may badd englosh  ;D

Wow, this project is coming along very nicely, guys.  I love modular stuff like this, as it really allows a lot more options in customization.  And the clubhouses you've made couldn't be more different, but they all look fantastic.  Looking forward to its completion (but don't rush it ;)).

OT-By the way, dmscopio, that avatar is awesome.  I'm a big Radiohead fan, particularly Kid A-era. Best of luck on your exam as well!

The only thing I would add to the model really is some greenary on the deck....  Try and make it more friendly in that aspect.  Maybe a tree and some flowers along wit a grass patch.  The tree and flowers can be put into bed that is held back by concrete benchs or something to that effect.... Or maybe a fountain.  I think that is a little bare...  The glass look great, just remember nightlights :P

That is veeeery sleek. I love it! Did you come up with the design yourself? Because it's exceptionally well designed. Just make sure no one gets on the roof. It looks like a walkway. :P
Title: Re: NHP FLOG - Modular Golf Pack
Post by: dmscopio on April 07, 2007, 11:20:10 PM
@JP, green on the deck is good idea. i come up with a design for the deck and the outdoor cafe area later. as you may have seen in the pic, there are already some tree and grass in level one...something similar maybe? I will try my best anyway.

@Gecko, yes I came up the design by myself. The concept is try to be symbolic. the shape can be seen as a golf ball and a golf club.... not sure you get it or not. As for the walking on the roof...thata could be a good idea cuz it would be a great view looking at the golf court up there.. :P

Top Class model DM
I reallly love the shape of the building.

About suggestions, the only one I have is that, due to the so many m2 of glass, you will need to detail the inside visible areas of the building... :-\ ...some details to make it alive  ;)

QuoteThe concept is try to be symbolic. the shape can be seen as a golf ball and a golf club.... not sure you get it or not. As for the walking on the roof...thata could be a good idea cuz it would be a great view looking at the golf court up there..

Thanks for pointing that out to me because being middle-aged now my brain don't work so fast anymore ;D.  Once again, I'm stunned by your abilities and talent with BAT, the clubhouse is another masterpiece &apls

I like the walkway idea that sebes suggested [excellent idea by the way sebes:thumbsup:] and adding the details inside like jeronij suggested would make the clubhouse even more realistic.  Excellent work my friend.....look forward to the finished peoduct.

Ooh, this looks like a great pack! I plan on using it in my city as there is a suburb that would be a perfect spot for a large golf course.

And dmscopio, that is an awesome model! And I can see the golf club and golf ball.

I like, I like, even if I don't like golfing(never understood chasing around a little white ball) :P.  The design is very good, looks like a logo you would see on golf shirts or something.  &apls
I have to agree that it needs some plants or shrubs outside and some detailing on the inside, plus nightlighting.
Can't believe I never looked at this thread.

Hey everyone....

Now that I have recieved Hable's Models for the new clubhouse, I am going to start showing pictures of my progression on the lotting side of the project.  So here goes it:

These first 2 pictures I have laid out the buildings in an arrangement that is starting to take shape.  And I have tried 2 different base textures to see how the colors matched up with the buildings.  I actually tried a few others but these 2 were the better ones.  I also used a few overlay textures to give the feel of a little concourse for a patio cafe along the back poolside.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg484.imageshack.us%2Fimg484%2F7278%2Fgolfclubb1do9.th.jpg&hash=9f54e2c5eb23343435bca2e9ff36337ddf621fc2) (http://img484.imageshack.us/my.php?image=golfclubb1do9.jpg)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg484.imageshack.us%2Fimg484%2F2268%2Fgolfclubb2nq8.th.jpg&hash=99366af7a919616dbb3731218c48bdaacf6803b0) (http://img484.imageshack.us/my.php?image=golfclubb2nq8.jpg)

The third and forth pictures are related to the entrance of the lot.  Third picture is the basic layout for the parking lot.  The entrance from the road will be TEd with a street connection, since street connections are the most seamless from these textures.  The forth picture shows the entrance from the parking lot to the main clubhouse building.  It was made up of a couple of split base textures which I covered up the mis-textures with an overlay the same color as the grass texture and the SG square garden props cover the corners to hide some ugly texturing there.  And they also give the entrance some character.  Since, I didnt have Carch Mega Props Vol 1 installed for the lotting, I couldnt put a fountain in the middle but I plan to do so.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg484.imageshack.us%2Fimg484%2F6496%2Fgolfclubb3xa8.th.jpg&hash=3d8e0290a01b9d82415e0984bef26712580481d8) (http://img484.imageshack.us/my.php?image=golfclubb3xa8.jpg)

2 hotels with pool and tennis court:

Of course as you can see, i didn't do any lotting, i will leave it to JP to do the lot and modding.
JP: I will send you a PM later for the link to download these 4 models, check your msg.

Alright... I have an update from my end here.

Awesome work Dms... I will get right on downloading that and modding it!

I have finally found some time where I was able to finish lotting and modding Hableurg's Mexican Clubhouse.  I will be uploading this with Dmscopio's Clubhouse when I finish lotting that one!

Heres a couple of pics for Hable's lot.  It is an 8x8 lot that has TEd entrances.  It is a reward with the exact same stats as the base clubhouse lot uploaded in the original release for FLOG.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg384.imageshack.us%2Fimg384%2F9600%2Fhableurgclubhouse2py7.th.jpg&hash=fb3977bc40d5f410ab5079ef42b532734c12a572) (http://img384.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hableurgclubhouse2py7.jpg)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg384.imageshack.us%2Fimg384%2F2075%2Fhableurgclubhouse1bw4.th.jpg&hash=4ee5a05365139279da430bb054faefc334db7c56) (http://img384.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hableurgclubhouse1bw4.jpg)

I hope you like it!  It should be released in about a week or so.  I have alot of things on the go at the moment between RL and SC4.  We are starting another big project that the initial co-ordination and planning is taking some time, but thats all I will say about that one at the moment.

I will use Hableurg's smaller models and make some tennis clubhouses with them.  They will just be standard park lots not rewards.  And hopefully have them done in time to upload with the two clubhouses.

I know Dmscopio has been waiting for this, along with many others.  I am about half way through lotting Dms's clubhouse.  I have the main layout finished, it is a 7x11 lot that will be TEd.  It again will have the same stats as that given to the first clubhouse uploaded already on the LEX.  I hope to get this lot and the one for Hableurg's clubhouse uploaded by the end of next week.  No modding changes have occurred, so it should work just fine.

Heres 2 pictures.

Hello,

Thanks for using the lots.  And thanks for the great comments.

1.  I assume you are talking about when using the Query tool.
2.  Do you have the FLOG Holes and Filler lots as well?  If so does this issue arise with these lots aswell?
3.  Did you download all the prop packs in the read me?  One of them was on the LEX called NHP Custom Querries, there is a file within named NHPUIs.dat.  This problem you are having makes me think you are missing this file, because it would be looking for a Query and not be able to find it.

If this does not fix the problem.  Please update me and I can look further into it.

Thanks again,
JPlumbley

i looked at some of the replies, and i've noticed that some had the same problem as i have, that the game crashes. And someone said that after the datpacker it worked fine, so do you need to have the datpacker for it or what?? and also, kimcar also had the same problem, but that was because he tried to click on them, i can't even get that far, when i try to build them the game already crashes.
How else can i fix this??

(btw, i've got all the dependacies)

cheers, natuurzoon

Hello Stocktons_pimp

Thank you for using the NHP FLOG it is great to see that people are using it!  I dont see any imediate issues from that picture.  The only "blackened" area I see would be from shadows.  Beyond that I dont see anything missing.

If there is still something, please post another picture with some circles around what you are questioning.  Good Luck!

Look under JPlumbley  on the power search.

ok i think i might i have found my missing link.  looks like i never downloaded Cycledoggs Trees No7.  i dont have time to check it out in game but i will here in a few hours and then let you know.  it was the only dependency that when i tried to unzip that didnt tell me that i already had it.

thanx a lot for the quick response.  does it make a difference that they are for MAC?

heres a pic. its just a quick one of the holes.  as you can see i got a ton of boxes.  all these are in my pugins folder.  do they need to be in a certain plugin folder.  either the program files or the my documents one?

If I recall correctly jplumbley made his own examplars from cycledogg models, so I don't think reinstalling them will fix that

I'll try to get in touch which jplumbley  and hopefully he will reply

The prop exemplars for the trees are included in the NHP Prop Pack Vol01 but you may also need cycledogg's BSC MEGA Pack CP Vol01 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1180)

ok i figured this out just by downloading something else that had nothing to do with the FLOG's.  i downloaded something that i had to pick which i wanted and delete the things i didnt.  so i then i thought about the CP Tree Controller and realized i never pick which stupid tree i wanted.  so after i did that i tested the holes and fillers in a sandbox region and they came out fine.  now im just guessing that the club houses will too.

thanx for what help every body gave me.
