SimCity Aviation Group Turboprops Department.Welcome to the homepage and catalogue of the SCAG Turboprops Department, which is also known as joelyboy911's regional aircraft BAT workshop. This thread will from now 'til forever be the place where I will show all of my regional aircraft (mostly focusing on turboprops, but possibly some regional jets as well).
HistorySCAG Turboprops began with a desire to BAT aircraft, which sprung from a lack of Air New Zealand planes being produced by the other major aircraft BATters. I just wanted to see some of that Blue and Teal in my airports, and Tabi's jets filled a space for a while, and then I was even more encouraged by the New Zealand longhaul jets being made by the aircraft BAT teams here at SimCity 4 Devotion. I started with the ATR-72s which progressed into a project also encompassing its smaller variant the ATR-42. The BAT project was my first time using gmax, or any 3d modelling program for that matter, and if you look closely at the models in the prop pack, you can see where I went wrong. Anyway, I joined the SimCity Aviation Group, and the SCAG Turboprop department was born.
Current ProjectsThe ATR-72 Project is still ongoing, but nearly complete. All plane lotting has been finished, and now the lots just need to be modded. The existence of the Turboprop department was sealed in place with the commencement of BATting two new turboprop airliner models: The DeHavilland Canada Dash-8, and BAe Jetstream. The Dash-8s are being rendered at this stage, and the completion of the Jetstreams is scheduled for shortly after.
InvolvementJoelyboy911 (me) is the lead BATter and texture/livery artist of the Turboprops department. Driftmaster07 has been heavily involved as a LOTter, as he has lotted the Standard definition versions of the ATR-72 and ATR-42 planes. Adroman is set to become involved with the project as well, in the fields of lotting and texture/livery creation. Pilotdaryl will be a contributor also, when he completes the Air Canada Jazz livery set (a hefty project) for the Dash-8s.
ProjectsCurrent:- ATR-72 and ATR-42
- DHC Dash-8
- BAe Jetstream 41 and Jetstream 31
- Saab 340 and Saab2000
- Fairchild Metroliner
Planned

Endless possibilities, with SCAG Turboprops.
moin joelyboy911,
great stuff, mate! ... can't wait to see it textured!
... are you guys planing to do older models as well like a gazelle or even some propeller-driven airliner :-[
hehe ... apart from this you doing a great job ... !
cheers

Awesome!
And thank you for making the BAE-146 Avro RJ! I am very excited for that lovely inter-city RJ!
The Bombardier Q-series is looking to be off on the right direction and will look really good once done!
Can't wait to see more!

Yes, I can't actually think of any particular American planes that I want to BAT, maybe some from Beech.

Thanks. I only plan to BAT these small types to begin with - plus, I think most of the major widebody types have been accounted for, haven't they? I would like to see the A340 though. I personally also want some of the older 737's namely the -300 and -400 series, so I may have to BAT those myself.

You are welcome too - It is my favourite quad-jet regional jet too. :P Actually it has been in the back of my mind since I started BATting the ATRs, then Kumba suggested it, then I found a good top-bottom-side drawing of it, which really helps (I had one for the dash-8 but not the J41 - I think it shows a bit).

Thanks. I don't have any plans for those old types personally, maybe I will do them someday. The mapping for the textures should be able to begin sometime fairly soon on the dash-8's, i'm not sure there are many things I need to modify. Then, I can make the liveries (my favourite bit).
Well, this is a double post - no activity here for a while, hopefully this will get things going.

As you can see, I haven't added the reflectivity settings to the Jetstream yet. Other than that, every (constructive) criticism is welcome. In fact I really want any feedback, these planes need to be perfect (or somewhere near to it).
Also, you can start requesting liveries now. I must be a little strict here, in saying that I won't take your request unless it is a real airline operating (or formerly operated) one of these planes (custom airlines' liveries may come later). Pictures or links thereof will give you a 1000x greater chance of having your request filled.
Next up, I will be presenting the story of ZK-NES, which incidentally is a summarised history of airlines that tried to compete with Air New Zealand on the regional routes. For a preview, search that registration on Airliners.net.
very nice work, these planes looks splendid!
Great Job, looking forward to it (In fact, setting ramp spaces aside on all my SC4 airports in anticipation). Just one thing. The ends of the Dash-8 Cockpit windows are supposed to be straight, not rounded like in your pictures. They resemble the cockpit sections of the Canadair Challenger /CRJ series. Apart from that I'd take them, as well as the jetstreams, in a heartbeat.
May I make a request for the Horizon Airlines livery on the Bombardier Q Series Turboprops?
They have a lovely, clean, elegant livery and it looks very nice on the Bombardiers.

Wow!!! Those look almost real - esp. in the curves near the front section! The nightlights look almost real too! ;D You might want to smoothen out the nose just above the cockpit windows on the Jetstream though.

Thanks. Yeah, I did have some trouble with that, I'll try to fix it.
AWESOME PLANES (up there)!!
Thanks Alex, your use of all caps is highly encouraging. Now, for todays pictures:
This is ZK-NES, a plane used by the three airlines that thought they could compete with Air New Zealand Link into the regional airports.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi597.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ftt56%2Fjoelyboy911%2FAnsett.jpg&hash=b0f9b7eabdecee34aa4eadd0dfc9b1f432c70edf)
Ansett operated its New Zealand subsidiary from 1987 to 2000, until Air New Zealands attempt at purchasing Ansett Australia (which ended up bankrupting both airlines - Air NZ was saved by a government bail-out) meant the two had to split apart. Its demise came when a company called News Corporation sold the airline to Tasman Pacific Airlines, which turned it into a Qantas franchise.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi597.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ftt56%2Fjoelyboy911%2FQANTAS-2.jpg&hash=84c843255df27e5353ea5f7d50a1bf74a760fd30)
This was a short lived airline. It went into liquidation in 2001, and the fleet was sold off. Much of it still remains in New Zealand, being operated by charter airlines such as Air National and Vincent Aviation. Other planes have been sold overseas and some have been scrapped. ZK-NES went to Origin Pacific.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi597.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ftt56%2Fjoelyboy911%2FOrigin200.png&hash=40b8052358b70e2ac5e34d2e92117fcd3e3d535f)
Origin Pacific operated from 2001 to 2006. At first, it code-shared with Qantas on some routes, which were a major part of its income. In 2004, Qantas its-self was fully established under its own power using the brand Jetconnect, and it cut off the code-share agreement. This, as well as repetitive government bail-outs of Air New Zealand, coupled with an inablility to find investors and debts being called, meant that the airline was bankrupt in 2006. Since then, all the airports in the land have been monopolised by Air New Zealand. (Except Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Rotorua and soon to be Hamilton, these now see International and/or domestic jet services from JetStar (A new Qantas subsidiary) and/or Pacific Blue (A Virgin Blue subsidiary).
I hope you enjoyed this history of Airlines in New Zealand. And you will probably notice (now that I point it out) that I made the Qantas and Ansett ones very generic. Thus, you can use them even if your region is not in New Zealand, as the Qantas one can be substituted for QantasLink (Eastern Australia Airlines) and Ansett can be substituted for Ansett Australia (though they did not operate the type as far as I know). Origin Pacific can be used if your region is somewhere near the Origin of the Pacific ocean, I guess.
And, to keep the Americans' attention :P, here is US Airways, operated by Mesa Airlines, which oddly enough also operates United's dash-8's

If I haven't lost your attention already, I need to know if there are any more of the dash-8-100 and dash-8-200 that you want. They are the small ones, and aside from Air Canada Jazz, I don't plan on doing any others unless someone asks for it.

Alright, I'll do both. Probably looking at a European themed update next time, think of Germany, Hungary, Scandinavia, Britain, Austria and Greece. This should give some big clues. Mostly i'm going to finish the dash-8s, then move on to the Jetstreams.
Two that I would really like as well, and they are the 400 series, are for Continental Express (Colgan Air) and Frontier Airlines (Lynx Aviation).
As for the 100 and 200 series...Continental Connection (CommutAir) operates the 200 Series and Olympic flies the 100 still. You already have the other critical ones I'd like in the 100 & 200 series...with United Express and US Airways Express...so aside from the two length Continentals and Frontier...I'd be happy.
British Airways did operate the Dash-8 100 as well...so I'm not sure if you already have that on the list...along with FlyBe...but they operate the larger 400 series.
The AirCanada Jazz that you already have planned will be a nice addition too. If it could be done in multiple colors...that would be even better.
Other wise, the Dash-8 looks to be incredibly comprehensive! I'm very excited for this one! Can't wait to see what you do with the Avro RJ as well!
Keep up the great work!
RG
There are a lot of airlines which fly or have flown dash 8s in more than one of the sizes, and I don't want to have loads of doubleups. For instance, I already intended doing Continental, and Olympic in the -400 model, and British Airways in the 300 model. Flybe will definitely be done.
I will make Frontier for you as well.
I have to say that I am HOOKED!!!!! I find it very interesting that these planes still fly... Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! I'm really excited about this one.

Awesome! Thanks! Can't wait to see them.
Scandinavian themed... Well, SAS operated the Q400 before they started cracking on landing, and is a big operator of the Dash 8-100 as well as 300 and Q400 models. However, the Jetstream 31 in Coast Air (BX)'s old livery (http://www.enfb.net/fbu/LN-FAL.jpg) would be really cool.
Yes, SAS will be a big one to make, and I can definitely make that Coast Air for you.
Oh, sorry, my second sentence should of course read "[...]and Widerøe is a big operator of the Dash[...]". Don't know what happened there. Widerøe is owned by SAS though.
Oh, OK. I've seen the pictures of Widerøe, and it looks nice. I probably won't have it ready for this update (hopefully later today). But the others (mostly Q400) are coming along nicely.
Thats good. Can't wait for release! But take your time. Make these as perfect as possible!
I did say a week ago that I was going to upload some pictures of the European liveries for the dash 8. I'm sorry I never got around to showing you, but I have made these liveries: Lufthansa, British Airways, FlyBe, Olympic Airlines (New livery on the -400 model), SAS, Air Southwest (from England, don't confuse with Soutwest Airlines of the USA) and Austrian Arrows. Remember to post requests if you have them.
Also, Americans: What is going on with Frontier? How should I make the tail of their plane? I seem to see that they have a heap of different animals on the tails? One possibility, if you guys want more than one of the designs would be to render the tail as a seperate prop and build a prop family to make a random one show up each time.
Frontier is remaining Frontier. Southwest did not buy them...so Lynx Aviation, who operates the Bombardier Q-400s for Frontier, will still fly as Frontier.
I'm partial to the Prop Idea...and having random tails appear on the aircraft. Add a nice sense of realism.
Some of the most well known were from their commercials. The Lynx, Bear, Moose, and Rabbit. I am partial to the Eagle and Orca (Killer Whale). But there are so many...so it really is hard to say which ones should make the cut.
You are the designer and creator of this fantastic project...the final cut is down to your preference too.
Hope this helps.
Stay Fab!

Love Lufthansa!
Woohoo, the Q400 in SAS colours again! Shame they brought the first crappy batch, but I do see them returning to SAS if it wants to survive as a company--if their Widerøe and Air Baltic subsidiaries are able to operate it a while without problems.
As for further requests, are Porter (Q400s) on your list?

Enjoy. I have still to make Porter's livery, and Frontier's (I am going to randomly choose one of the tails.). I think Pilotdaryl is going to make the Air Canada Jazz livery set, and then I will be rendering. Then I will be adding the doors, and rendering again. I hope to put out a prop pack within the next two weeks!
Joely...what else can I say...that hasn't already been said?
These are just absolutely perfect looking!
I can really step up services now at my airport with the Continental Connection, Horizon, US Airways, United and future Frontier Qs.
Your props are going to compliment the AC Team's jets very well...as well as the future jets that SCAG is soon to release.
Thank you again so much, can't wait to see how this all wraps up.
RG
Thanks RG. I wanted to make sure I got the world covered, in terms of country of origin for the liveries. I overdid New Zealand, just a little, but I think that I also covered North America and Europe quite well.
I was going to release the J31 and J41 in the same pack, but I have decided to pursue them seperately, as you may have noticed. There will also be a J41 in United colours (the old ones).
I'm glad you think the props will go well with AC team's jets.
Wraps up? It won't wrap up until every turboprop has been finished. Next turboprop I do will be the Saabs, but after that I will have some by Embraer, Beechcraft, and the ATP. Maybe I'll BAT some bigger Jets myself (I have one or two secret ideas), but I will also do some regional jets - I see there are a lot of votes for the ERJ-145 family (but I heard a rumour that someone else might be doing them).
I gotta wonder if making things like South African Express is a bit of a waste of time, are there any South Africans out there? Do you like it?

These are set to be the final liveries for this package. If there's a demand, I might revisit the pack.
So, I have some last adjustments to do to the models of the smaller variants, some other things to add, then on to the rendering. Hopefully a prop pack release sometime in the next couple of weeks.
Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about the ATRs. It can attribute to how much of a learning curve this has been for me, that they are nearly ready, after 4 months of work, while the dash 8s might be ready within a much shorter timeframe. Perhaps soon I will 'graduate' to some slightly larger planes.
Awesome is a word tossed around a lot these days, but, I would have to say that they are truly awesome!
Especially that Q-Link DHC...
Well done, can't wait to get them into my airport!
Looks good!
Thanks Adroman. Did you notice that I elected to use the old logo on the plane's tail? What is your feeling on the logo?
Thanks Alex (Driftmaster).
Personally, the old logo is my favourite...
It looks great on your model, the planes they fly here (Mackay) use that logo.
I think you should keep that logo!
Have you ever seen the BreastCancer livery they've been using on a couple of their planes?
here's a link: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f8/VH-QOH.JPG
My father actually flew on that plane last week...
OK Folks. I was chatting on MSN to Adroman about something else, when I thought of a slightly revolutionary idea. You know how in AC team's lot packs, there are also empty gate lots; well, how about, instead of that, the props are modded with a property 'Prop Random Chance' and 'Prop Time of Day'. This will mean that I can set a chance for each prop to appear, say 80%, and a time for each to change, say midnight, and that will mean that 20% of the gates will be empty, and that at midnight, all of them will reset, so a different lot of gates will be empty. Also, the ones that are in families will reset as well, meaning that, for instance, the Air Canada Jazz, with their 'jellybean' liveries, will appear with a different colour each day.
This will eliminate the need for empty gates, and will bring a touch more life, I think, to your airports.
Please give your feedback on this idea, and If you want to suggest what the random chance or time of day should be set as, please say so.
In all honesty, I'd rather only have the gates cycle from occupied to vacant with just one aircraft, or in the case of the "Air Canada Jazz" cycle through the liveries. I'm building airports and arranging aircraft in groups of gates for each airline. so for me, I'd like to only have a US Airways Express Q200 appear and then disappear, and not have a random QantasLink Q400 appear.
I'm fine with a random clock and have the individual plane appear and then disappear...but only for one livery.
That is where I stand on that matter.
Thanks Joelyboy!
RG
I would prefer that you just keep it, or make it a seperate optional DL pack.

QantasLink Q400? I think you misunderstood me. What you said about going from occcupied to vacant was right on the money. You choose what airline you want to plop, and then it will randomly disappear, on 20% of the days in the game.
But ones in prop families will change through as well. So - I could put all the liveries from North America in a prop family, and IF you choose to plop that gate, you can have a different airline each day but still from an appropriate geographic region.

Thanks Alex. Its good to hear different opinions. Of course, nothing's set in stone yet.
QuoteI could put all the liveries from North America in a prop family, and IF you choose to plop that gate, you can have a different airline each day but still from an appropriate geographic region.
I think that'd work, but North America I'd be about the only region that you could do that for... There aren't too many Q400's in Australian companies!
And 20%, I know the the real life parking times for planes are significantly lower than 80%, but for aesthetics I think that's a good ratio...
Great work nevertheless.
Hey Joel,
I neglected, sadly, to say that you did a GREAT job on that Lynx Dash 8! I've never seen a more perfect livery!
Woah, size 99! Thanks a bunch Alex, the praise makes all worthwhile.
And @Adroman, Yeah. It would also work for NZ though! If there's another airline from Australia that you'd like, I would make an exception to the fact that requests are closed. Otherwise, I also need an Aussie airline for the JetStreams.
What about the fokker f50?
Hey Getron, thanks for visiting my project's thread. Welcome to the SCAG Team Board, and welcome to SC4Devotion (I see this is your 5th post).
The Fokker F50, and the plane it was based off, the F27 (a.k.a. Friendship), is definitely another plane that I would consider making. However, I am already committed to several projects, this one, the 767 and the BAe 146 regional jet. I also plan to do the Saab 340 and Saab 2000. So, perhaps if there is a little more support for the idea, I will BAT these planes.
Not in this set thanks Joel... though I appreciate the offer.
I think the REX thing we were talking about it'd be fine... and again, Qantas link.
I think plain old regionals'd be fine... you know, generic colours logos etc. I think that'd satisfy most Regionals.
Hello everyone. I am just coming by to say that I have exported all of the Q400s, with their doors closed. I have made custom LODs for them which are going to be good (they aren't too complex). Next I will render the Q200 and Q300. Then I will model the doors and stairs. And render with those.
Fantastic Joel, simply fantastic!
What a day, eh? An update on Thames River and Rendering?
that's more than what I do in a week! :P
Thanks for that Joel... no pressure now! $%Grinno$%
That'd be grand, PilotDaryl sent me a PM this arvo about it. Can't wait to get started.
Just lotted an F/A-18 by the way!
Edit: Spelling Mistakes,
Yeah, cool.
Also, check out the front page of this thread. I have prettied it up a bit...
Just to let everyone know, the BAe Jetstream 31, 32 and 41 project is back on track. I expect to start rendering them, and making some more liveries in about a month, when all my exams are over. All other work will also be completed around that time. The reason that project had been off-track was a slight error with some strange bumpiness on the aircraft, caused by my misuse of certain functions in gmax. I had decided to put off the project, and focus on Dash-8's but it now seems the two types will see a roughly simutaneous release.
I still want to know people's thoughts about the revamped frontpage, do you like it? Is it worthwhile?
Yes, I like the new page very much...
Progress is good news, I'll have the ATR's ready soon... I tried out one of the Dash-8's, they're fine pieces of work.
Havva good one, (considering it's your birthday :P)
Happy birthday Joel! Also, may you send me the Dash-8s to try out over on my PC? Thanks.
Ah, sorry, I shouldn't have been so ambiguous, I only borrowed the one QantasLink Q400...
sorry for hijacking :P
Havva good one

This plane is used by the Australian Customs service for some reason. By special request from adroman. Also, since the coat of arms is unintelligible, it is quite an international livery, anybody's customs service could use it.

This is a Q400 model dash 8 converted into a water bomber, for use by the Securite Civile, or Civil Defence of France. Its used for extinguishing fires, and the like, and you can see the bulbous tank under the wing area in which the water is held.

This plane, operated by the Canadian Forces Air Command, or AIRCOM, is used as a navigational trainer, and therefore contains radars and such things in its large, and misshapen nose compartment. It is colloquially known as Gonzo.
Now, THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' 'BOUT!
But seriously now, that is some awesome work Joel!
Can't wait to get them into action...
Havva good one
Adrian
Oh well, that's the second keyboard in a week that I've ruined while drooling over your work!!! ;)
Great work on all three, I've been waiting for such "auxiliary" military/government types for ages! &apls
Especially Gonzo will be doing good work in my cities, That nose just screams MPA (Maritime Patrol Aircraft)
Keep up the good work, and looking forward to their release

Here's to Canada, my 5th favourite country on Earth! This rather conspicuously-coloured Dash-8 is used by Transport Canada to look for ships illegally discharging oil in Canadian waters (apparently...).

These 3 planes are no longer in service, but the magical part is that they shall live on, in SimCity 4's aiports.

I think the models need a little refining still... But none the less, it's good that the project is back on track.
Thanks for your comments guys, I think I'll also be making a generic military grey coloured Dash-8, and I will also be making the RAF (UK) Jetstreams.
I'm gonna be too busy to do anything the next two weeks, with my school exams on. But after that... well, you just wait and see.

I made 2 new liveries to make up numbers on the Q300 line. If you want to request a Q300 (thats the middle-sized one), this would be a good time.
Very good models!
Looks good! I'm assuming you've already done Air Canada Jazz, so I don't have any requests. Keep up the good work!
I love to see Canadian planes in SC4! ;D
Nice job on the Porter Q400s!
Also, Bombardier C-Series isn't much of a regional plane more a competitor to the A318 and A319.
And, the Air Canada Jazz livery is still being made.. (For the poster above me)
Great job! ;D
Hey Joelyboy911, Jack wilds here...
Time to chime with my own accolades of "...well done " -particularly the security models, its all looking promising a good addition to any sim-airport...
I also like your avatar -a kiwi on candy cane skies :D clever funny ;) Does kiwi-land get to have a white or green Christmas?, -being down under summer now, Its shaping up to be a greenish-brown one up-top, the weather is really acting weird here of late.
Personally I don't think its global warming as much as sun warming in conjunction with changing planetary magnetic fields, its a theory I found on NASA site.
Merry Christmas from the northwoods,
Jack
@Driftmaster07. Thanks!
@Jack Wilds
Hey there Jack, good to see you again! We'll be having a green-ish Christmas, although its fairly likely it'll rain. The New Zealand weather is as reliable as [insert unreliable thing here]. I don't know about that global warming stuff, doesn't seem to be getting any hotter here... well anyway, I hope to have a prop pack for these on the LEX soon. PIMX has made making the prop exemplars, and hover-query LTEXTs a breeze!
Merry Christmas to you too Jack!

Here we have the Dash-8-102Q and Dash-8-311Q. Apparently it is rumoured that Air Canada Jazz will purchase DHC-8-400s. I wonder if this rumour is enough of a need for me to make the livery. On that basis, it was speculated that Air New Zealand was going to purchase DHC-8-400s as well. Maybe I'll do both. Maybe niether. If someone has more insight into Air Canada Jazz could fill me in, that would be good.
really nice work there!
i check this now more often.
maybe you ecapt a wish from me???
what about aeromexico connect?
they have a lot of this small aircrafts and i really love the design...
i dream of it, maybe you could it make happen...
see ya, pete
Thanks Pete. I'd be happy to accept your wish. I have a new plane in progress at the moment, and Aeromexico Connect used to fly them. More details soon.

Just the preliminary work on the next line to come out of SCAG Turboprops. Here we have the Saab 340, and soon we'll have its big brother, the Saab 2000!
Credit to Adroman for the R.E.X livery.
Nice work! I love that American Livery. :)
Hey Joelyboy911, Jack wilds here...
I see the Saab fleet, an enthusiastic " " as they lokk really good and I hope they look as good in one of my airports soon. I believe I've seen these being shown off at Oshkosh EAA-Airventure a couple years ago.
Concerning making liveries... I appreciate the 'realness' of accuracy in modeling -as I can get too much into it, but what I'm looking for is a fictional Sim livery called "Grasshoppers" using the Saab aircraft, this particular airline would be aimed to the smaller markets... then you could invent create neat color/graphic scheme for it ;) so what do you think?
Lately corporate and small passenger craft have been showing up there in greater numbers -I believe a trend a forming with corporate/passenger hop services, when corporate isn't flying then passengers board -whatever perhaps its always been but a new spin on the idea is occurring. &Thk/(
When I last posted I said it was going to be a greenish-brown Christmas BUT mother nature had other ideas as she dumped a blizzard blown 14" here in the Fox Valley, -as much as 18" near by (6th strongest storm on record by Green Bay reckoning) now its just bitter cold with last night dipping to -2 and wind chill to -15. It was a cold walk to my local coffee hot-spot - working to out run a froven runny nose... :D

Jack :satisfied:
Lucky you! Its 80 down here in Florida. Lol. :D
80? 80(26 C) is AVERAGE over here.
Back on topic, I like those planes. I've only seen turboprop airlines once, but those will be awesome for small airports.
I don't want to sound impatient but I haven't heard anything about the ATRs in a while. Is that project still ongoing, and If so is any estimated date for rollout/completion?
Just curious, don't rush it guys. I've waited this long, I can wait a little longer...
Hey Thomil, you can complain here, I won't be offended. The ATRs are ongoing, and I'm glad to say that the lotted set is almost ready for release (a few more side lots to complete the set need to be completed, the plane lots themselves are done). Can I say late january? I know it seems ages away, I might not even get it in then. Unfortunately, I have a lot of things happening all at once. If I had decided to cancel the ATR project, I'd have said so. Sorry it's been so quiet.
Okay, as long as they're still in the works, No problem. As I said, take your time.
After all, as an avid follower of the A-400M and Boeing 787 Dreamliner I'm used to delays, so first Quarter of 2010 would be just fine...
@Jack Sorry I never got back to you sooner. Thanks for the support and encouragement, and in return for that, I'm going to make your Grasshopper livery, and basically enjoy myself doing it. It should be fun. Hope you enjoyed your freezing Christmas. I was at the beach in very pleasant warm temperatures under the sunshine. :D
@Thomil I'm getting on to them soon, I promise... ::)
Today's Update: Saab 2000

Unless anyone has any specific requests, then those are the final liveries for the Saab line. :)
great region planes ;)
Just to let everyone know, I've rendered all of the dash-8s and made their prop exemplars using PiM-X. Next up, I'll design the ground textures on which they will be lotted and pass everything on to Adroman for the lotting phase. As for the ATRs, there are only a few auxiliary lots left to be made (walkways and gate boundary connectors). I hope to make these soon, and release them on the STEX. The ATRs will not be sent to the LEX, as the lots were made before PIM-X was released, but now using it is a requirement for LEX consideration. As for my other BATs, the Saabs and Jetstreams will be released in one set together, but their development is going to be put on the back-burner for a time, as I seek to undertake a large aircraft series which will be made public soon.
Looks great Joel! If you need me for lotting, I'm availiable. :)
Hello Everyone. I've been designing the ground textures, and because I've been unable to come up with a universal type of marking, I've designed 3 variants.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi597.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ftt56%2Fjoelyboy911%2FTexNZShow.png&hash=9e2109429c4bf03bdafdad657ff0a0a1219b0495)
This one is the New Zealand variety. AFAIK All New Zealand airports have turning circles like this where the turboprop aircraft turn.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi597.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ftt56%2Fjoelyboy911%2FTexUSAShow.png&hash=c34a77d77c3898614b82433fd22fb012f89721cb)
This version is based on one I've seen in Google Earth in the USA. I think it also applies to Canada and Mexico.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi597.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ftt56%2Fjoelyboy911%2FTexAUEUShow.png&hash=8500badb2dde4d92a96c9822181f12f24874d001)
This version is based on one at Brisbane International Airport in Queensland Australia. Some airports in UK/Europe use it also.
It will also be possible for third party designers to make another variation on this if they wish. It will work on a system like the ERTM for roads, where whichever texture set loads last in your plugins will appear on the lot in-game. You will be able to choose whichever you like.
Unfortunately these lots will not be compatible with the upcoming ATR (Mk 1) lot that are soon to be released. I've designed this newer better system which will accomodate all the new turboprops, including my planned re-visit to the ATR series planned for third quarter 2010. You'll notice the ATR stop line is at the far end of the gate centre-line, thats because ATRs actually stop facing out, so that people don't walk past the wing and engines on their way to the plane. This is one of the many things wrong with the old ATRs. They will be released, but the new ones will supersede them in a big way.
Frankly Joel, it is up to you, but I would suggest making all variants, which I will help with at your request.
The us one looks kinda best, but is so simple, that is maybe a bit too simple. Maybe the last one but with stripes in the rectangle top left.
strucka, these markings are based on real world airports, and as Joel said, the idea of these is to have the interchangeable. No one's making you use the US variant...you have the choice to use the New Zealand markings, the Australian/European or the North American sets... That's the beauty of the system, you can chose the textures to suit your region. Also, as Joel said, it is open to third parties.
Excellent work, Joel, I know these will be used expansively in the future ()stsfd()
Havva good one,
Adrian.
Oh! I'm sorry, I understood that it was up to us to choose which one we'd like the best and the one would be released.
Nope, they'll all be released. You'll get to choose which one you use. :)
Hi Everyone. I've begun lotting the Dash-8s, and expect to be finished within 2-3 weeks. Then there will be final testing and a submission to the LEX Scrutineers after that. So one month would be an optimistic release date.
I anticipate that the project will be broken down into a few packs. There will be a Europe pack, a North America pack, and an Asia Pacific pack. On top of that there will be a seperate prop pack of the ones without the doors (for you to play with yourself).
Well so much for optimistic estimates. :D
But I'm still working away on them:

Hey there Jack. I have the lots for the Bombardier/De Havilland Canada Dash-8 series. I am waiting on some LEX scrutineering on the Air NZ Engineering Hangars, before I can get the dependency scrutineered and uploaded, then the Dash-8s. Sorry for the delay. Not forgotten.
Thanks for the bump.
Now that the NZ Hangars are up, the dependencies'll be up next if i'm not mistaken. I'm just really excited to finally have Dash-8s.
Everything is in beta testing at the moment. Dependency, Dash-8 and Airbus A300. It will be out ASAP.

Everything is in beta testing at the moment. Dependency, Dash-8 and Airbus A300. It will be out ASAP.
Well once again my scheduling plans have gone out the window... "On behalf of SCAG we apologise for any inconvenience this delay may cause". They are in LEX Scrutineering now though, so hopefully it will be soon.

Hey Joelyboy911,
Just a bump-n-hello, ;D trust that all is well with you and that exams &scl() went well and that the earthquake didn't shake you and yours up too bad...( &hlp earth shaker smiley)
A northwoods shout out (insert shouting smiley here)
Jack :sunny:
Thanks, everything's going well with exams (on a break from study right now actually). They'll be over on wednesday. The earthquake struck Christchurch, about 800km from where I live, so I was lucky to be unaffected - and I have no family there. Some friends of mine in the area got out ok as well, and their house is still standing. My mother reckons she felt some of the quakes - but I didn't feel the earth move at all &Thk/(
Thanks for the bump! :)
And to everyone: The SCAG Turboprops department is still alive $%Grinno$%. I have some new and exciting projects on the way for it as well as the already BATted ones that should be on the way to an exchange near you before year's end.
Hey. Dropping by just to ask how this project is doing.
...just popping in to say Hi-hello and how your doing... ;)

Hi everyone. Well I'm through exams, finished school for the Summer (down here in the Southern Hemisphere) and this week I'm enjoying very peaceful and quiet days at home until my sister finishes school on Friday. The Dash-8 project is complete, and hopefully it will be on the LEX soon, but the scrutineering team seems to be very busy at the moment (I haven't heard back from any of them yet :'() Sorry I never got back to you Jack, feeling bad about that. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures at the moment, but I've been doing some new modelling, and the SCAG turboprops will have two exciting new projects in 2011 in the large-turboprops category, and several in the small category.
Its raining here at the moment, so a good excuse to spend the whole day inside (as if I need one :D). As for the rest of the SCAG projects, I'm in the process of getting things on the LEX, (and followingly, the STEX). I have 6 completed projects on my desktop, (including the Dependency), so I'm very excited to get them uploaded and earn my LEX Upload Rights. WC_EEND and I have put the BAe-146 project on a little bit of a hiatus until his university exams are over, and I'm not sure what I want to do with the Saab 340s at the moment.
Wow, I can't believe its been so long on the Dash-8 project. My on-time performance isn't very good now, is it?
You are hoping for 3ds Max, Jack? I didn't know you were a modeller?
Hey whats up $%#Ninj2
yes I am a cadder, as I own and use turbo-cad pro, alibre, and an older vr of toolwerks as well as sc4bat and gmax add-on but they don't function well at all I think I DL'd a corrupt gmax or something and it also seems to conflict with vista &ops
I also wish that I had the stex and lex discs then I could read the how-to columns on my time at home instead of hanging out for long times at the coffee shop
Glad for the progress report and that you have successfully finished the school year
you might need to give your scrutineers a bump to see where things stand
Peace out dude
Jack
Well, this may be a very good week for the Simcity-airport-lovers, with the return of Gwail and you! Hope to see more of it soon, just like a lot on the LEX and STEX, can't wait!
Koekie
I was just wondering how this project was going along. :D
Well, the Dash-8s are in scrutineering now. I've sent a final version to CasperVg, and I'm waiting for a response and feedback/approval. Other than that I haven't worked on any of my other turboprops lately, and I'm not sure now what I want to do with the Saab 340/2000 series, as I feel the modelling is a little below my ever-raising standard. My main focus recently has been the Airbus A330 series, and the BAe-146/Avro RJ collaboration with WC_EEND.
Thanks for staying with the project! :)
Good to hear that. I'm getting very excited for its release :D
Just wondering how the scrutineering is going. Haven't gotten any updates in a while.
Only one thing is for certain, at a snails pace. When the time comes, it will come. Patience, is a virtue.
Alex
I can't blame the scrutineers' pace this time. With a steady stream of real life work and stuff, I've been unable to commit any time to resubmitting the project, and others that have been in scrutineering. I haven't forgotten, and when I get more free time, I'll be back to work on the projects. However that is at least a month or two away, sorry. I'm heading off on a month-long trip to France, Sunday week, but then things should return largely to normal.
I'm very sorry to everyone I've let down. &mmm
Its ok Joely...
be at peace, go to France have fun, take pics for show-n-tell, things will get soon in good time
come back well and good
Jack

It's been a long time in the making, but thanks to everyone for sticking by, especially the most loyal fans, Jack Wilds, Kingdiz_55 and all the others.
Special thanks to Adroman and Pilotdaryl, Shadeslayer, KoV_Liberty and WC_EEND for their help in developing and testing the set.
A fantastic end to a great project!
Thank you so much for releasing them. I have just tested them in the game and they are breathtaking. SCAG team has been doing a crazy week.

And we still have another four days until it's over. ;)
Its been a real SCAG release party week awesome $%Grinno$%
With the release of much anticipated projects... a hearty thank-you to the whole scag team -particularly to Joely, for sticking with it and "getting 'er done"... again, slaps on the back all round :P
Hello there! Great release guys! &apls Only one thing, I can't seem to extract the .exe file for the SCAG mega dependencies. Does anyone else have this issue?
Hello Joely and scag folk...
writing to inquire about the saab turbo prop progress/ status... any updates to offer ()what()
THX for responding
Jack
Awesome! SC4 definitely needs more small jets & propeller aircraft, so these are most welcome indeed.
I know you are all busy, but it's been a year. Any updates?
The turboprops are Joel's project as far as I can work out, and I haven't heard from him in a while, so to tell you the truth I have no idea what stage these are in at the moment. I know Joel is busy with his law studies now, so it could be a while before any updates follow. That said, next time I manage to have a chat with him, I'll ask.
Xander
Thank you. I hope I didn't seem grumpy.
Hi guys. Sorry to say I am quite busy at the moment... As Xander said I am studying Law (and French) in my first year at University, and consequently not finding a lot of time (or energy) for preparing projects for release (though I have done some sporadic work at BATting, but very little). As far as projects go, in the last holidays (about a month ago) I did work on some turboprops. But I should be very honest and say it is possible that they will never be released.
But I do still check the forums from time to time. You should let me know what planes in particular you'd like to see. I've been thinking of small (c20 seat) aircraft. I might get to work on them next break.
Thanks for still being interested!
its good to hear from you Joely... :)
life sounds like its all good for the most part... Law and french ()what(), thats a credit load :P ::) Best wishes for your academic career... :) but I'll still be watching the lex/stex for any possible releases... ;)
Having studied law before, I can tell you must be swamped with work. It gets better though: you can get a job as a lawyer and be swamped with work too (but at least there you are getting paid instead of paying, or so the theory goes). Hope it all goes well for you.
That said, I do hope you do keep at them. I know there's significant work involved in a project like this, but this set has come so far it would be a shame to see it fully fall by the wayside.
