The trees by c.p. seem to repeat in the menu. Keep going down the menu, it should end after you pass the same tree type 3-4 times (at least, that's when it ends for me).

Multiple tree icons are a result of more than one tree controller installed at the same time. Please remove all but one of them (the one that you want to use ;) ).

x-ten,

you should take some time to organize your plug-ins, it is a bit time-consuming but it will be worth it in the end.

first, you should remove non-sc4 files: read-me files, photo files, etc. Use the cleanitol program and run the master clean up files to clear those files out. Also get the datpacker program and restructure and compress your files--the game will run much faster, and it will automatically strip out doubled files. dig around the forums here, there are great threads on using both.

It is a good idea, I organized all my plugins this past weekend, and then susiquently dat packed them. It makes my game run 2x faster. Another thing I would recommend is putting all props and textures into the program files/maxis/sim city deluxe/plugins folder, as due to the load order these will load first.

??? What do you mean by that?

You should REALLY clean up and organize your plugins folder!!! I organized the folder in that way that I have the creator name (e.g. Simgoober, SFBT, ...) as the first level in the plugins directory. Underneath each creator's folder there go the plugins, each one organized in a seperate folder again.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg13.imageshack.us%2Fimg13%2F7650%2Fpluginsdirectory.png&hash=59bbeb9e3ca26fd8f4fb10f62fa0313e55f457f0)

This way it's much easier to find certain plugins later on.

Another good program is DoubleKiller (Website here (http://www.bigbangenterprises.de/en/doublekiller/)). It's good at finding and removing duplicate files for you.

datpacker
MFC71.dll not found

I discovered that all of the dll's mentioned in the readme need to be in the windows\system32 directory. Open your explorer and search your local drives for the mfc71.dll. I foudn it in the \ahead\lib directory. I just copied it to the windows\system32 directory and that was it.

If i'm right, DATPacker does not delete the unDATPacked files. You need to either

A: (recommended) go through the folder and move the original files to another spot outside of SC4, (in case you need to recover them later)

B: (Not recommended, if you do this you will not be able to recover the originals, especially since only certain things can be DATpacked):Delete the originals.

If I'm wrong please correct this.

Hope this helps!

The SUM reads the SC4 installation path from the registry. It might be missing in your case, so you'll either have to reinstall the game, or add the path manually. It should be located in HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Maxis\SimCity 4\, stored in a text string called "Install Dir".

Just one more thought: If you gonna use

> Wouanagain's Dat Packer and the
> Download & Install Cataloogue (DIC) by DocRorlach

this will provide an easy way to switch between the packed and unpacke state of your plugins: The DIC has a "swap" option that changes your plugin structure. 'Cause if you want to add more plugins later and keep your folders organized you need to install the new plugins to the uncompressed plugins folder and then recompress the folders that have changed. DIC will do that for you with two mouse-clicks.

Probably you might keep that in mind once you're going to expand your plugins.
