OK to start I will explain the basis for this topic.
I am going to use this thread for ideas, concepts and general experimentation. It will be a place to showcase new ideas I have come up with or some brainstorming ideas that float around NHP and get tested.
Anyways, I will start off my experimentation of what I did about a week ago and posted in ST. This is for my one way road mod that might start to take off soon. If anyone has seen RHW (Rural Highway Mod) by qurlix, you will recognize that I am attempting to essentially adapt his work to another network. In this case one way roads. So.... What I am trying to do is make a 2-tile wide one way road that has 5 lanes and parking in the outside two lanes. The texture I used was created by Beskhu3epnm.
Well heres a couple pics of what I have done.
Picture 1
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg228.imageshack.us%2Fimg228%2F3850%2Fowr5pathtestayv0.jpg&hash=4f3e976015098ec8088ae4ebd51cd00eceb0a398)

In picture 1, I drew the path of the one ways to both go in the same direction, downwards using the technique I figured out with arranging the textures properly the other day, was also able to draw them for the opposite direction. When I did this though I was not sure if this method would have an effect on the paths. I proved that it doesnt seem to with picture 2. In picture 2 I drew the roads with the same method, just one side with the arrows facing one way and the other side facing in the opposite direction. This did not have any effect on the textures because they came out the same, a good thing. But!! It made the paths for each side of the road go in opposite directions. Meaning that when the OWR is originally drawn and a texture override is created, then the paths will follow the direction that the OWR was drawn.
Hi JP, its been a long time since I played with transit networks, but I remember they are a nightmare ::) .
I am sorry but I can not help you much with this issue. You need Tropod, Smoncrie or Karybdys at leats, and they are hard to find. But I can help you with T21 exemplars if you need some help, or with some props, as I made for the street side mod.
I hope somebody can give you a hand with this ;)
So today I finally got around tp downloading the latest update for SC4Terraformer. To see what my comembers of NHP have forced magical wouanagaine &hlp to come up with. The first thing I noticed was because of the way I draw my PEGs rivers all of them were turned black from the contour lines. It looks cool so heres a pic of it. :satisfied:

Hey that's a nice pic !
so you have lay down your peg stream evenly around 5m ?
( And for other=> It is hand drawn !!!!!! ( damn where is the hand clapping smiley )
No wou I dont have to lay it in 5m increments but... I just do it in 5, 10, 15, 20 since its easy to keep track of.
Keep it up ;) That looks awesome Jplumbley
Wonderful picture!!! &apls
excellent work and pics

Please, no codified languages are allowed in this site :D !!!! What are you talking about %confuso
wngn, just click the "more" link after the last icon ;D
Hey, thanks for all the comments guys.
Jeronij... Thats not codified language $%Grinno$% In the last SC4TF, contour lines were integrated. The contour lines show up at 5m intervals and if you noticed the rivers I made for PEGs Pond Kit have showed up all black. This is because I draw them at elevations in increments of 5, 10, 15, and 20m for the heights of the waterfalls. It turned out pretty cool I think, and wou was commenting on it. The rest of it is hand drawn, or from the original landscape I was given (most in this picture was hand drawn).
I have been working on making this map playable for Beskhu3epnm for 4 months now. It is very large and I am about 2 days or so away from completing it. I will have pictures on xmas day or boxing day to post and will attempt for an upload here and at STEX on Wednesday this week after NHP approval.
Heres a quick preview of Invermere Valley.... Its a map of 12x12 Large City tiles. I used dedgren's tutorial to make this picture. Its a thumbnail because its 1250x1250 pixels. Check it out...
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg334.imageshack.us%2Fimg334%2F1724%2Fbeshk1ap5.th.jpg&hash=df4f46878b2a7ece556a3d77e9490230b8b9f7ad) (http://img334.imageshack.us/my.php?image=beshk1ap5.jpg)
There is only a little bit of work left to do on the southern shore of the valley river. Should have it done by Monday and uploaded by Wednesday. Mini maps of this region will be created for those who like smaller maps and medium sized maps.
That looks very cool ;D Keep it up
wow!
JPlumbley, I have waiting to see the final product for a while now, and it looks great.
That is a cool map-style shot.
I played around a bit after reading dedgren's tutorial too, but you have it nailed down.
Nice Stuff.
Fantastic. &apls
Great job you've done
wonderful new picture
beautifull pic
I have finished up work on Invermere Valley. The following 2 pictures have been posted for approval by NHP. When this map is approved, which according to feedback throughout the process it should be approved rather quickley it will be uploaded here and at the STEX on ST. Im done &apls After this is uploaded I plan to start lotting.... For myself so I can play the game again after a long wait. I will also continue work on OWR-5 and hope that it goes somewhere.

Thank you everyone for your comments!!
@pvarcoe Man I never really knew anyone was following my development of this project since very few had posted in my previews over at ST. Glad to hear you have been waiting!!
Fantastic new work!
That map is unbelievable. Insane - and to think it was hand done!!!! &apls
Thanks for the comments!!
I have a quick correction for you Mattb.... Beskhu3epnm took at 1:1 scale of a portion of the Columbia River in British Columbia, Canada. The terrain was not very playable so in September when NHP was founded he asked me "to work my magic" on the valley and make it playable. I have done my best. One of the tricky parts to making this map playable but asthetically pleasing was to mix Fantasy with RL. I think that has come out pretty well. So I cannot take the credit of this entire map being hand terraformed when in actuality the valley is the only part I did.
Thank you Beskhu3epnm for allowing me to take part in this amazing project!
Some things great about this map is there are:
The amazing RL mountains and terrain. Thanks to Besk!
The attributes I tried to implement into this map were.....
- Making this map playable for all players from, the beginner to the expert. There is alot of challenging terrain, aswell as flat opens space for growth and beginners. The terrain in the valley also varies alot allowing for growth of the player to learn and become better at dealing with terrain features.
- Also blending the terrain I created with the RL terrain Besk has been so kind as to provide for me.
- Some pre-flattened areas for 3-dimensional rivers for use with PEGs Pond and Stream Kits, or ploppable river with a little bit of extra terraforming.
- And most importantly ENDLESS opportunities and directions you can take your cities and regions.
Great update
and nice to hear you finished in time for the xmas break too
enjoy it

Hey everyone,
I have been doing alot of lotting over the last month. I have been taking models from creators across STEX and making my own lots. I have started making my own prop families and building families with my own stats for thse lots using others content. Since Simgoober is my favorite creator, I have alot of his stuff. My goal is to make my game to my liking, and have it uniformly fit together for a CJ I may start in the coming months or so. I am making much more realistic levels of occupancy and am going to attempt to create a balance in the budget system with power, water, garbage etc. With my new levels of population.
I will start with the R$ lots I have created to this point.

Thanks for looking what do you guys think?
really nice lots ! Great work
The berwick one is really gorgeous IMO, with the paved texture on the back.
Now I'm wondering why you make a lot multistage. Wouldn't you have a better diversity if you make a different lot per stage ? ( even with the same building )
Thats a good question wou!!
The answer to why I am making multi stage lots is that, when I get to the higher stages of the game I still want to be able to create suburbs more easily. I am going to mod the values in the simulators that tell the game what percentage of the time a Stage 1 lot will grow when in Stage Level 8,7,6 etc. By making these lots multi stages, they get a higher chance of growing and gives me more diversity on how high thier % chance is of growing.
I hope that makes sense.
As promised here is my next update of lots that I have created. These are all the R$$ lots I have created to date. I went on a Simgoober rampage while lotting these. Man I love his models!!

Hi JPlumbley-
Those lots are looking very nice! And I like the multi-stage idea. Seeing all these nice lots you're making makes me want to mess around with lot editing some more, especially with the SimGoober buildings. His stuff probably counts for about 25% of my plug-ins folder, if not more.
Again, nice job, and keep it up!
-Tarkus (Alex)
I'm in love with the Jacobson Cottage & Racheal Anne Cottage. great looking ones ( lot & BAT ) but I will only talk about the lot
I'm however a bit surprised about the SG Townhomes. Why have you turn them 180° from the road ? I like the idea of the garage ( it is a garage isn't it ? ) touching the road with the building on the background, but how do sims go to their house :) ?
Thanks for comments Tarkus and wou!!!
@wou... In quite a few communities around the Toronto area there have been townhomes springing up like this. Some of them the house "front" faces 180 degrees from the street onto a parkette or maybe another street. For this I wanted to test out this idea in a sim city setting as a growable lot. It doesnt look too bad and if you put some NAM ped pieces it will allow your sims to walk from their front door across a park into a busstop, subway or what ever you want. It also allows you to have your road "hidden" from view and still have your lot have access.
And yes those cottages are probably some of my favorite BATs in all custom content.

I should have think of that :). Yeah, could be great to zone for those lots and then plop some parks/parking/PEG Road to get 'behind'. Learn something new everyday, :)

I was complimenting your lot's skills :
nice bat choose
nice lot arrangment
Hey all....
Since I have wanted to play alot lately. And it is going to take a while before I finish this lotting stint I am on. I have made a test city to test my lots and make sure they work and are growing properly. Every lot in this city other than ploppables and industry are my own lot creation. I have taken pictures to show you how these lots are slowly coming together to make a city! I hope you like them.

All the trees used are from Cycledogg's CP packs! Props coming from CSX, SG and Deadwoods to this point. Thank you to all the awesome modellers out there making these awesome props and buildings! I hope I have made you proud.
Wonderful pictures and fantastic work!
Great works Jp
I like the small row comercial street
About the latest pic, I found that you may should put more trees. Or is it just because I'm accustomued to Jeroni street mod :)
I saw and like the tiny details about all those prop famillies . That make thoses lots more real !
Great looking lots, and I just noticed the models by Mickiebear, I think they are actually from Mattb.
I see your lotting abilities moving along quite nicely. Man, I gotta try the stuff you are doing. Especially the res stuff. It looks so neat and tidy!
@kwakelaar Thank you for pointing out my mistake. It seems I had named my zip folder incorrectly. Yes those models are actually from mattb, not mickebear. I have changed my previous posts to fix this.
Thanks for the comments everyone!
@wouanagaine I dont have jeronij's street mod installed for these pics. Actually I have no mods installed. It is vanilla SC4 with my own created lots and the No Maxis Mod from Dusktrooper for R and C. This is for testing purposes and every lot has been growing. I am low on demand now in my test city ofr the lots I have created and now I am going to have to make some lots for the other occupancy types for my test city to grow.
Next group of lotting will be some CS$$ and CO$$$ lots. Maybe throw in some CO$$ aswell.
I know... I know... I have been "quite" for a little while. But thats only because Beskhu3epmn and I have been busy getting the NHP Invermere Valley Mini maps ready for upload and I have been co-ordinating the efforts of NHP into a new team project that will take the efforts of every member of the group.
I wont say much about it right now, but I will show a teaser pic and say that it is going to be a big modular project. With help from:
Mognite: BATing Props and UI editing
Hableurg: BATing Props
Jeronij: BATing Props
JPlumbley: Lotting and Modding, General Co-ordination
Besku3epmn: Main Testing, and maybe BATing in the future
Wouanagaine: Main Testing and awesome feedback
Every other NHP member will also contribute to this project in small ways here and there
The following teaser pic is an in-game pic of some modular lots I have created for a golf course. These are test lots taken by Wouanagaine. There are some old Jeorg lots there from his old set, but the new ones by us will use new props from the greats like Cycledogg (trees), Simgoober (ponds, general props), Gascooker (english style buildings) and CSX (general props). Also, some new specially designed props from the above team will be added for this project!

More will come in the coming days. The lots have only been lotted, no modding has been attempted yet. The first modular set will include a clubhouse and 9 holes. More sets are planned, including filler lots, more holes and more clubhouses. We are starting small, since this is our first MAJOR lotting project as a team.
I hope you will enjoy the lots guys. I've got a lot of fun plopping them and find some nice addition to what I was used before ( ie Joerg's pack )
As you see in the pic, they blend nicely together, but you can use them alone and build a nice modular golf park, as JP made enough lots ( starting not that small :) )

JP - the golf course looks great! Also, I like the residential lots you showed earlier in the thread- they've got a good look to them, and from the screenshots you've teased us with, they appear to grow pretty well, too.
Lookin' good!
Please excuse my intrusion, but I was looking through this thread and admiring the Residential Lot work you have done. I'd LOVE to have those Lots avaialble for use in my cities!
Any thoughts on releasing them to the LEX?
@Branch I am dealing with some RL issues at the moment. I can definately release them. I will put them through testing and figure out the dependancies. It will take atleast 3 weeks for me to get to the upload point because of RL. And I am focusing what time I have into FLOG.
Thank you very much for the interest! Which lots are you hoping for the most?
We have been working pretty hard the last week, modding. I have 9 holes somewhat completed, and 1 Clubhouse.
Beskhu3epmn has created a template Menu Button for me and I will be adding them this week, also Mognite had created an NHP custom query for the NHP essentials prop pack. I will be creating an update for the NHP Essentials prop pack aswell and be using Mognite's NHP custom query! And I cant wait till Wouanagaine sends me a test of his new tool!! It will save me sooo much time! But I cannot devulge any information on that one.... Thats his job!
Modding Stats for the lots have been derived from simple formulas as following:
Buldoze Cost $10 per tile
Plop Cost $15 per tile
Monthly Cost 10% of Plop Cost
Demand Cap
R$$ 1 per tile
R$$$ 5 per tile
Effects
Park 1 per tile over 20 tiles
Landmark 1 per tile over 20 tiles
Pollution
Air -2 over 5 tiles
Water 1 over 3 tiles
Garbage 0
Flamability0
Stage 0
Water 5 plus 2 for each lrg pond and plus 1 for each sm pond
Power 1 for light props which will be added soon

Well, I have been working my busy little buns off on this project! Barbyw has helped me with a budget issue I was having! Thanks Barby!
Over the past week I have gotten a good portion of the path system created, and the filler lots as well. Modding is coming along great! There Im about 50-66% done all the modding, I still have Menu Icons and an NHP custom query to add.
Heres some nice pics of a golfcourse I created with the lots. As of right now there is about 27 lots , 9 holes, 9 path lots, 8 filler lots, 1 clubhouse.

Hey there jplumbley-
This new modular golfcourse set of yours is looking great. We've got tons of them around here in Oregon, some of them with rather odd layouts (the city of Heppner, for instance, only has a 6 hole course), so this will be a welcome addition to my cities.
Also, when anyone "modularizes" anything that's just been a one-size-fits-all underscaled plop by Maxis, I'm all for it. Looking forward to it.
-Alex (Tarkus)
Invermere looks great... I can see where the glacier slid through the mountains. &apls
Thanks Flame! I have to give half the credit to Besku3epmn, since he was the one that took the GIS data and made it into the base SC4 map for me to edit.
Well, now... Since I have been working on other projects, this thread has been very neglected. Hows about I dust it off.
I have been doing homework as of recent. My homework, is an assignment where I need to build a 3D Model of a house of my choosing. I have chosen, the Gamble House by Greene and Greene Architects. The house was built in 1908 and has been used in a few movies, most notably the Doc's house from Back to the Future and the house in Jumanji. The house is a beautiful Arts and Crafts home (my favorite style)... If it wasnt a historical building now I would love to live in it if it wasnt for it being in California.
The assignment is to build the house in AutoCAD and then import into Autodesk Visual Studio. In CAD all the major modelling will be done and then in Viz all the materials, lighting, cameras, flora, etc will be done. Over then next 9 weeks this will be one of my major assignments through the term and maybe, just maybe, I can get it into SC4. Im not promising anything, because I have never rendered before and am not sure if I can even do it with the programs I have. I could always ask for help from friends though.
The requirements of the model is to be full 3D, interior and exterior with professional quality detail. We have to create our own materials for the project, build custom lighting for the home, setup cameras, for still shots and setup atleast one camera for a video.
Anyways, I am going to passout now... so here's a quick render of how far I am in the modelling.

lookin good there, I guess if it ever gets to the game this will probably be one of the most detailed BAT's in it, (along side BIGDIG). I like autoCAD, worked with it for 6 weeks as an Engineer 2 years ago. spent much of the time removing stuff Architects stuck in LOL...
Joe
If you can get this batted, I'd be able to justify downloading the BTTF DeLorean. ;D

Surprised you posted this one, great job. Just adds to your repitoire of skills!
Thanks guys. I will post more pictures the further along I get on this project for ya. I cant wait till I hit materials and lighting, it will be fun for me to play with that stuff. The rendering, may drive me "batty" though LOL.
&apls Looking real good there JP. I agree with the above statement that if this project ever gets into the game, it will be one of the most detailed lots around.
