Here's the breakdown of the MD so far:
Pages 1-4: ecoba's showcase. Nothing special, most of the pictures are just from short lived regions I had, honestly I would just go ahead and skip to page 5.
Pages 5-12: QUEENSTOWN; ecoba Tries His Hand Down Under. This is when I started what was probably my most long running-region that I've showcased, believe it or not. The work on the first pages can kindof be hard to decipher due to my poor mosaic making abilities, but I still think it's some of my best work. Nearing the end of page twelve you can see some pictures of Joanna. I region I played for a while whilst Queenstown was lacking in inspiration.
Page 13: QUEENSTOWN Redeux. Where I start over Queenstown on a new region, a new technique, style, etc.
Page 14- : VENTISERI.
Hope you enjoy it! :)
Ethan
You're going to recreate a region that you've never been to?
Well, good luck to you. :)
cool, i love this part of Connecticut , will u do the Northeast Corridor and use the Acela ()what()

Hi Ethan
Looks like you have planned the creek to run very nicely through that terrain. Nice work so far
Dave
Hey Ethan,
The first picture you showed looks very promising my friend, a good dam will start here fore sure! I like how you planted the trees, it's realistic.
Take care,
-Arthur.
cool ,i'll be watching to see how your dam turns out
Me too, can't wait to see the start of construction here!
-Stijn-
Nice start. I'll be interested to see what approach you take for your dam!
looks like its off to a great start!!!
Very interesting to see where this leads!
Heres the real Old Saybrook Station in CT and 2 other spots nearby it is the 120 to 150 mph zone on the Northeast Corridor .

anyway i thought u find that interesting ,even know your not recreating it. :)
~Corey
ecoba/Ethan-
Excellent start, can't wait to see your dam and spillway! Can you show us an overview of your entire region? And then maybe another of the current city tile? I find folks always like to see the "raw" terrain and enjoy watching how it developes under the mayor's careful hand.
Keep up the good work!
Lora/LD
Replies:
joelyboy911: Yeah, I've decided not to recreate it now, thanks!
Corey/Nexis4Jersey: Thanks, Corey!
Dave/tooheys: Thanks, Dave. Yeah, I've actually finished the creek now, and it runs nicely through the terrain.
Arthur/art128: Thanks, Arthur. The trees are actually planted like that by me tree controller, it's the Meadowshire River Tree Controller, by Brian/c.p., it's available here on the LEX.
BarbarrosaS/Stijn: Thanks! The construction will probably be pretty slow, but I think I might start soon!
Bluemoose: Thank You!
Lora/ldvger: Thank you, Lora. Yeah, I'm doing very similar starts to your MD, building a dam, although I originally got the idea to start with a dam from Ennedi Plays Shosaloza, but this dam might end up being earthen, like yours. Is my region pic not in the first post? Hm. Pretty sure I posted one. I'll give a region pic with the next update, as well as an overview of the city tile, which I have already taken. (I think...)
Ethan
Here is my first teaser.
This picture is of a small rural church in the same tile as the lake. The lake has been built recently, so development has not increased around the lake... yet.

Karin Church. Ack! Gasp, sorry for the ugly toolbars things. Will never happen again!
This church was founded by German settlers and was built in the traditional style. Many families from nearby areas loved ones are at rest here. The oldest date listed on the graves was of Ronald Fordham Karin- Born 1589-Died 1632. The church was named after his family, as the grave was actually laid before the church was built.
And, for Lora, a semi-regional view, edited to hide content of a future update. You can see the completed lake and river in this picture.

love the teaser.
That regio overview is awesome.. even more as awesome!
That region shot teaser looks promising ;D.
Very nice teaser!!!
Nice Teaser ;) , i want too see some closeups of the Dam
Hello, @ All.
Unfortunately I will not be able to do replies at the moment- I just thought I'd share a discovery with you all.
I have stumbled upon one of my favourite pieces of Classical Music of all time, and if you can stand Classical Music, as I can, and it is part of my life, you will listen to it.
As some know, I am a musician. I play the Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass, the latter two not as well as the first. I can also play the reeded Recorder pretty well. My newest aspiration is to be able to play the Oboe and the Bassoon. Both of these insturments have a lovely rich tone if you can play them correctly. I deeply wish that I will be able to play these- the only thing is, I am not sure if I could be able to afford a rent on one of these instruments. From what I have seen- a quality Bassoon rental is approximately $200 (USD) a month! That is expensive for me! Well of course as all reasonable people looking for a bargain do- I headed to eBay! I found some quality Bassoons there for a bargain- so I am thinking I might just have to buy one of these instead of renting, these were actually very cheap, found one for $380 dollars, and a super-high quality one for more $$.
Well here is my favourite new piece, Mozart's Bassoon Concerto Number 1 in B flat Major.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkh2hPclqEM
Thanks for listening to my weird adventures,
Ethan
Hey Ethan,
The last teaser was excellent, that little church looks excellent placed there. Although it will be nice to see some little old houses, even more a little village around the church, it will be awesome. But I think you've already think about that..
As for your weird adventures, it's nice, even if classical music isn't my cup of tea at all.. But it's always nice to listen at Mozart, Bach or even more Beethoven (my favorite one between these three.).
Take care,
-Arthur.
Well, folks, sorry for my little break, had a lot of stuff going on the past week.
This update will focus on Hampton's Castle, the castle near the top of the city tile, north of the lake, and at the end of the road we've laid down. This castle is represented by a wonderful BAT, made by xannepan, who is fabulous at making all BATs in Parisian style, as well as other French BATs. I rank xannepan along with Porkie as some of the best Euro BATers of all time. Well enough praising (although you can never get enough praise!) and on to the update.
Of course, being a castle it has to have some history. The castle was built by her majesty Queen Elizabeth I in 1599 for the royal Hampton family, close friends of hers. The Hamptons, Richard and Katherine, along with their 4 Children, Nicholas, Lileth, Nancy, and Richard II, and their maid, Alice, of course. The family had many dogs, mastiffs, primarily, and at the time you could have easily seen huge dogs prowling in the woods around the castle. These mastiffs were sent out to hunt fresh game for the noble family on the rolling hills around the castle many days of the years the family lived here.
In 1603, Richard Hampton died of, most likely, tuberculosis. Nicholas, who was next in line to be an advisor to Elizabeth I, had already died of tuberculosis? as well. That left Richard II, a small boy, only 5 years old, to be the head of the family. He was heavily assisted until his tenth birthday by the butler, and of course, Alice, as well as his mother, and afterwards was a very wise nobleman. In 1614, Richard II died at age 17, probably of tuberculosis. As you can tell now, tuberculosis was a disease that had completely ravaged the Hampton family. Two years later, it was revealed that Richard II had a son, Arthur, and that his sister, Lileth, was not the heir to the noble family's fortune.
The castle is now in the possession of Queen Elizabeth II, and the British Government, but of course, no person lives there, it is a national heritage site in Saybrook, and is not part of Britain at all. Tours of the castle are open to the public, and it is even somewhat tourist attraction in this rural corner of the land.

Good work on the castle you just need work on the path leading to it.
Hey,
Your first "city" on the region looks really good with that lake &apls Looking forward to more of that.
I personally would do something more with that castle, though. Maybe you could put some flowers or some other trees around it? And furthermore you could add the draggable paths by chrisadams instead of that roundabout, so that people can reach that castle without walking over plain grass ;). Or: If you prefer that roundabout you could add some parking lots, so that the people can park there - this would add more realism
And one thing I have to say at last: The picture size for each picture (almost 2.8MB) is rather large considering the size. Converting it to a JPG would help a lot ;).
Hope you don't find my criticism offending or so, though :)
Keep up the good work so far - this MD has a lot of potential,
Fabian
Hey, sorry about the images being gone. I actually didn't know there was a difference.
So, I will have to figure out how to put the pictures in .jpg. This is hard because I have a very simple computer and the pictures from SC4 are already .pngs.
If anyone know an easy way to convert this could you please help?
Thanks and Sorry Modds,
Ethan

GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) is probably the most popular free program. :)
You could try http://www.xnview.com/ which has batch converter
Or you could try Clip2Pic (http://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1462) which will take screenshot as jpg directly :)

Or simply open the pictures in Paint and save as in Jpeg.. :D But I think the easily way will be to use Clip2pic as mentioned Wouanagaine !
Well Yeah, I'm on Hiatus.
I should be back after a while with a kindof differentiation from Old Saybrook.
Although I won't be in this region, I might revive it if I get a new computer...
Thanks, Ethan
Just an announcement.
I've started on my new region, and I think that I'll actually finish it before I show you all.
Unfortunately, I can't get Clip2Pic to work.
Any help?
Ethan
if clip2pick isn't yours to use, try ZScreen...i use this, opening gimp automatically, whenever I take a pic!
well, my longtime favourite is Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com). It offers both snapshot and batch function
Great update my friend!!! This castle is beautiful!!!
This is not going to be an update, I just am going to tell you all that I am working on finalizing my region choice, and then I'll start updating again.
Thank you all for your wonderful comments, and suggestions at photo conversion. I think I'll try Irfanview.
Thanks, and see you all soon.

how on earth do you do that?
I am currently using Gimp. :)
Surely the easiest way to have picture is .jpg format is to just print screen your simicty screen, then paste into paint and save as as .jpg file.
Photo editing programs will also work. Paint.net and Photoscape are two free programs which should do the trick.
Anyways, I hope you can get the pictures sorted out soon. ;)
Well, this is the first teaser back from the break. This is just a teaser, so the full explanation of the town will come with the first update.

Conversion ended up to be so easy!
Thank you all for your support during my hiatus.
Ethan
Well that's a nice looking batch of farmland already! Looking forward to your first full update!
Nice farms there, ecoba. It'll be interesting to see where you head next.
This should push you onto the next page...
Good to see you fixed your problem. Nice teaser, looking forward to the update.
Crabapple
Crabapple is one of the Orbital towns that surrounds Casterleigh, which will be my main city. Crabapple is very spread out, and is divided into Crabapple Station, Crabapple South, and Crabapple Central. Home to a (expected, as I have not constructed Crabapple Central yet) population of 10,000, it is an average sized orbital town for it's distance from the city centre. Crabapple Station (somewhat appropriately named) is home to the Crabapple rail station, at the end of the Crabapple and Roundup rail lines.
Crabapple Station
Hehe..funny story. I haven't actually built Crabapple Station yet, so we'll se where it'll go, but not the station itself.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg526.imageshack.us%2Fimg526%2F5056%2Fcrabapplestationfeb2302.jpg&hash=00984ae6da5653029d659b813aaa82f3fa24e2ed)
As you can see, there's the end of the line, no station, but there will be one soon.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg403.imageshack.us%2Fimg403%2F9266%2Fcrabapplestationfeb1902.jpg&hash=2c329f36b6deba6a0b8609a9c8d8d8fc530d96c0)
The 'town centre' of Crabapple Station, not much, but enough for the town, there are a couple other commercial areas, with another assortment of shops, but people are able to get most of what they need right here.
Point Exeter
Point Exeter is a small peninsula enclosing the Crabapple Estuary. The Peninsula is only accesible through Crabapple Station, and is only home to a bunch of farms. The first teaser I gave you all was from Point Exeter.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg96.imageshack.us%2Fimg96%2F4600%2Fcrabapplestationmar2021.jpg&hash=ea9b960b2765bc3a0bd63204915f8e9f59850210)
Most of these are still family farms, in the wills for generations. (Did that description make sense?)
Crabapple South
I have no detailed pictures of Crabapple South today, just an overview that encompasses Crabapple Station and Point Exeter.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg526.imageshack.us%2Fimg526%2F7411%2Fcrabapplestationsep1702.jpg&hash=959dd7b8b38318bc9dd289fe9623bd98920bcee2)
As you guessed, Crabapple South is at the bottom of the pic, Point Exeter is in the centre of the screen, and Crabapple Station to the top, Crabapple Central will be to the right.
Region View & Replies

Battlecat: Thanks, my friend. I like how the farmland turned out too! :)
Daniel (Shadow Assassin) Thanks, Daniel! It's a real honour to have you stop in! Thanks for opening Page 3.
Connor: Thanks! Glad to see you stop in. I've been meaning to pop in a comment over at your MD, it's very nice! :)
The future seems bleak for the houses at the end of the line, did they move already?
Excellent looking farming area even with only Maxis lots.
Nice update, and you did a great job with the farms. :)
nice rural community.
The region view removes so much detail; I like the zoom 1 view, it looks wonderful! ;D
Great start on this region! That's a great looking little farming community already. I like the terrain, that bay adds some really nice character to the tile.
Thank you all for your comments, I'm just letting you know that there will probably not be an update until the 30th of December as I am going on holiday.
Thanks and have a Happy Holidays!
Ethan
You are making nice progress... and I look forward to future updates. :)
Very nice rural area!!!
Hello, everyone. I've just got a preview here.
This is from a very detailed area.

Great looking little teaser there. You're getting the hang of that RRP flora already! I'm looking forward to seeing what the surrounding area looks like here.
The mix of ploppable grass and flowers are nice!

how on earth do you do that?
I upload all my SC4 pics on to a Sim City facebook photo album and hotlink em :P
Sorry for the lack of updating, but perfection is biting me again, so I've pretty much completely gone OCD about my cities, so, I'll be working and hopefully should have some pictures up soon.
Just replies for now.

Daniel (danielcote) Thanks!
sumwonyuno: Yeah, the region view does remove a lot of detail, but I think it still looks nice. But I have to agree, the close up is much more informative.
Battlecat: Thanks! Yes this is a great region, I had to do some minor terraforming to that bay though.
Bruce (Schulmanator): Thanks! It's a great compliment coming from someone like you.
Tomas (Tomas neto):Thank you!
Battlecat: Thank you, the RRP flora is one of my best friends nowadays.
sumwonyuno: Thank you. i was trying to go for a field from my area, does it suit.
Ethan
Nice preview on these teaser!!
Crabapple is a really nice town! And nice regionshot! The teaser is also really beautiful!
Looking forward to more... :)
Just an announcement for you all. I have managed to get TerraFormer to work on my computer, so I am now also able to render .SC4M maps now!
I am very excited about this and I think this will allow me to branch out in a lot of new ways and will also make me feel a little bit more up with the times, and hopefully, I will be able to focus on a project.
I was originally going to be focused on showing you all a recreation of the Scranton, PA area. My new friend Eblem (Heblem) one of the most reknowned map makers of the SC4 world, was kind enough to make me an accurate greyscale of the area before I was able to load TF, and I may still do this if people want it.
I could also build a region on any map that I am now able to download and render. This could probably end up being anything. Something that I have considered doing for a while was doing my take on the Shosaloza region, and if I were to do that then my MD would probably not fall by the wayside so easily.
I could finally do a recreation of my hometown. NHP has released an awesomely accurate map of it on the STEX and the usage of USGS maps and my knowledge of the area could probably end up to be quite a showcase, and quite a ride for us all along the way, considering that this would certainly kick my OCD into high gear.
I would really enjoy everyone's advice on what to do now, so please, tell me what you would like!
Thanks,
Ethan
Sounds like you've got some good options available now. When it comes right down to it, the best project to dive into is one that grabs your imagination and enthusiasm. If the project meets that one test, then it'll be a lot of fun to see! A recreation of your hometown sounds interesting, but something close but different in the same area could be cools as well. Good luck with your decision!
Thank you Battlecat, for your suggestion.
I have decided on a project that will berevealed soon, but I am somewhat reserving the top of Page 4 so that it can be an easy, em... turn to for the rebirth of the MD.
NOTICE: I think that I will be able to start again on Sunday; 24 January 2010. I'm sorry but my SAT test is on Saturday, so I'm studying a lot, and I somewhat accidentally- deleted my plugins folder.
I think you all might like what I have in store...
Ethan
ooh rebirth sounds interesting. i cant wait to see what you have in store for us.
I'm intrigued as to what you have decided. Looking forward to see what happens.
Connor.
Okay, I'm back with a teaser, I think this might be my MD for a while, just some random pictures.
Please tell me if the picture needs to be smaller, it's 1024x768...

It's part of the Grand Canyon. :)

That is absolutely breathtaking. Very true to life. I love it! &apls
grand canyon eh. very nice.
Awesome!
Very cool indeed! That's a great looking map!
Grand Canyon ...... hmmmmmm.......are you going to try to span it will a bridge?
That's a great picture of the Grand Canyon!!

Connor: Thanks, the first teaser is up.
BuildingUp: Thank you. The map is on the LEX, if you ever feel like trying it out.
Battlecat: Thank you, my friend. As I mentioned above it's c.p.'s map, not mine, and it is on the LEX.

Tomas Neto: Thank you!

This is a pretty old picture, it was a while after I had started playing with plugins, but it is in a Maxisian city where I regrew most of the homes. This I found in my archives, and thought it a cool showcase of
c.p.'s wonderful homes.
I hope to give another introduction on the new page. I know, another one, but this will be an actual renaissance, so if we get to reply number 79, it would be great if replies would shut down.
Thanks for your feedback! And sorry for the weird formatting today, was trying something new, don't think it turned out too well.
Ethan
The last teaser was nice, Ethan. Grand Canyon always been a map I liked, but I never used to play it... Maybe not easy to urbanize... :D
Anyway, good luck with your plugins download.. Don't forget to save all of them (also as the region) in an external disk ! So that if the comp crash, you'll be able to get all the plugins in less than 15 minutes ! ;D (I'm doing that each week.. )
Take care,
-Arthur.
Very nice little teaser!
Are those Maxis R$ lots non-slope conforming, or the result of tricks of zoning and slopes?
Arthur (art128): Thank you, my friend. Yeah, the downloading is going well, and the computer seems to be able to download stuff a lot faster. The .exe installers are really handy for me, as I don't have to then open Adobe Reader.
Battlecat: Thank you! I think I'll just show some older pictures for a while.
sumwonyuno: Those Maxis lots are non-slope conforming, and also considering that they are older pictures, I had not started sloping my cities.
Today's little picture is from a more recent city, showing a great variety of Mattb325's homes.

interesting small town you started , how about you make a Cross-Regional Highway / Road?
Nice little teaser, Ethan ! I love that small residential area, the SAM make it looking even more good. Also nice use of Matt's homes, they're quite nice..
Don't worry about the UDI icon,

Arthur. ;D
The UDI is no big deal when the rest of the shot looks so good! Nice looking suburb there!
Oh, look, another old picture.
Also, considering this is comment #78, I would like to somewhat reserve comment #80 for an official new start, hehe, not to try and take over my own thread, though.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg194.imageshack.us%2Fimg194%2F3904%2Faapr16061247775865.jpg&hash=0f63bdef32e2d18a2b217031c4da9295611d047b)
Another old picture showing some of c.p.'s wonderful homes. I also really like the SAM in this shot.
Ethan
Sorry to hijack my own thread, and I'm very sorry mods! Sincerely, but I will be more active, hopefully by this weekend. And these bumps in this area are of with my deepest regret.
Please don't be horrendously mad at me!

That's a couple of very nice images! Good job on that little pond. I'm looking forward to seeing what you've got planned for the reserved space! :)

Did you ever think you'd see a mosaic from me, because I didn't. This is also my first city in which I used a Maxis Blocker, it works smashingly.
Ethan
Thats a nice first ever mosaic if you ask me, lol. I like the downtown area, and the ponds fits in nicely.
Very nice little rural town. I think the hospital look a little out of place becuase of it's size. Maybe try a smaller hospital. Maybe try SmalltownUSA Weatherwax Pharmacy by JBSimio (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1274), I think it will fit in better. ;)
Robin

Whoops, not the best mosaic ever, I will get better, I promise. I'll do replies next time. :D
Ethan
Your work has turned out quite nicely! Yes, the second mosaic needs a bit of work, though you did get the first one aligned properly.
I think you got the mosaic rather well done. Maybe you need a little puzzle on two top pictures at last mosaic, but its not so bad that you notice anything without looking for it. I think you starts of well, and the town look to be a peaceful place.
Very nice job with this mosaic! Mistakes do happen on the first few tries, but it's hardly noticeable when the stuff in the images is so nice!
Ethan- a really nice start to what looks like a solid MD. It's obvious you take a lot of time to think through the content that goes into your pics. I'm sure folks will be watching to see where you take this- count me in on that.
David
Okay, I'll do replies first.
Replies from: Update #1
nedalezz: Thank you, a way to make mosaics only came to me after about a year that I have been posting pictures.
Robin (rooker1): Thank you, Robin; as for the hospital size, it's for a much larger area than you've seen so far.
Battlecat: Thank you, my friend.
Replies from: Update #2
sumwonyuno: Thank you, I really like how this town is turning out. I will work on the mosaics, they'll get better.
Q-Tips: Thank you, I also feel that for a beginner that the mosaics are okay. At least the ones not properly aligned are close to being aligned. :-[ Thank you, I think that town does look peaceful, too.
Battlecat (2): Thank you. Really, it's hardly noticeable?
David: Thank you, David. I feel like a movie star the way that you talk about my MD. :) Thank you, for your very nice comments, my friend.
Now for some pictures. Last night was our first snow of the season where I live. (Down South) So, I've decided to post some of the pictures I took when I went for a walk last night. There's only two worthy ones, I must say.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg180.imageshack.us%2Fimg180%2F562%2F374h.jpg&hash=0821be487dca74caf9557522f26bae21f8cc7f58)
One of the lakes I live near at twilight. (That's why the picture is so dark.) You can see the difference between the new infill homes and the original, older homes on the hillside.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg134.imageshack.us%2Fimg134%2F1848%2F367o.jpg&hash=a7eb42aca1c1794fcad6533c0de9de47733e7128)
One of the streets running next to a park. This shot was a little bit ruined by the stretlight. But, perhaps you can see how heavily the snow was faling in these pictures.
Maybe an update later today?
Ethan

Hope these turned out okay. That's also your first look at the Vegas River.
Ethan
Cool couple of updates! You're really getting some serious snow there. Hopefully you can send some of it out this way! (Vancouver, BC :-))
Those mosaics look great as well, looks like growth is just getting started here.
Great work, Ethan! I love the Vegas River!
Wow, looks excellent, Ethan! You're rural/suburban blend works fantastically  I like the look of those rural properties, they look a lot like where I used to live. Well done using the Fractional Angle pieces, they make everything even more realistic. On a final note, those Cane fields look excellent!
Havva good one,

This is probably our last mosaic of Alice, as I've finished the tile. I'll post an overview next time, if you'd like. Also, we're nearing 100 posts. Thanks to all for your support up to now!
Replies:
Battlecat: Thanks, my friend. Unfortunately, all of our snow has melted away. The lack of snow out there in BC must be horrible, I was listening on the radio about the conditions in Whistler and they are exactly the opposite of what you need. Thanks, the mosaics are getting better, I'm happy. Actually, I've just finished up this tile.
Ryan: Thanks! The river will probably appear again soon.
Adrian (adroman): Thanks, Adrian. I've been working on the blend for quite a while now, and I've finally gotten to a point that works for me. I took a good bit of inspiration for Mackay when I started up this MD, as well, so you deserve a bit of credit. Your Cane lots saved me, they are wonderful!
Ethan
I feel like you are just teasing me and not showing me more of the city.
More great pics. &apls
Robin
We're making do with the snow we still have at this point. At least it's been mostly sunny instead of raining!
Another very nice looking update! I quite like how open this town is, it looks like it's in the midst of growth!
very great update &apls
It gives me great pleaseure to move your MD to the "Best Sellers" section.

Congratulations from myself and The SC4D Staff.

Congrats on Best Sellers, Ethan! You deserve it, showing off excellent pics like these ;D.

Hmm, a not mosaic...
BuildingUp: Thank you very much, my friend.
Scott (scott1964): :D Yes, it is a very green forest. Thank's for stopping by.
Tomas (Tomas Neto): Thanks! I get a lot of inspiration from Vale Paulista.
Battlecat: Well, it's only natural that you would, considering you live there and all...
Ioan (io_bg): Thank you, Ioan. I was thrilled after being moved to the Best Sellers, thought I could never maintain an MD long enough.
Ethan
Great preview there the airport looks great, out of interest where did you get those terminal pieces?
Will
Awesome airport! Would love to see more of it. :)
Every time a new nice looking mosaic, they do look good. I noticed in your mosaics from the previous page the rather abrupt transition from the gardens of the houses to the nature surrounding them. Maybe an idea to do a little more detailing in these areas. I think Chris Adams mayor ploppables could make quite a difference here.
Yeah, I could be a bit biased when it comes to those particular trees ;). But mostly I like forests of any types!
That is a very impressive looking airport, I'm looking forward to seeing more of it!
You know what Ethan ? I'm a big fan of airports (also as sports car and trains but I really love planes - especially fight ones) so I'm really lovin' this picture.
Great work with those terminal pieces, they looks really nice. Although, you need to move a bit the planes, their doors aren't aligned well with the terminals door. I'm wondering how the people can move to their flight.. ;) ;D And also you should fit the empty spaces with some fillers, just to take the shots or even with the planes lots.. ;) (Or you can photoshop it ! ::) $%Grinno$% )
Take care my friend !
Arthur.
Wow, my friend, fantastic image!!! Great airport, awesome work!!!
Some pictures of a side project. All custom lotted. Also, this is intentionally made so that all the trees are planted in such a manner. I had people props, but they're not showing up... ()sad()

These are in the city of Pasaur, nation of Ventiseri...
Ethan
You certainly have a lot of greenery in these pictures. I'm really digging the European buildings too. &apls
Very nice. I think it may be the textures and lack of shadows, because the town looks bright (livelier). ;)

Congratulations on your first showing in OSITM. You're off to a great start. I'm looking forward to watching your progress.
Take care.

Ethan, congratulations on OSITM, well deserved. &apls
Quite a bit of variety in your recent pics, and they look great.
As for your missing people, a lot of those props are timed so you may have to wait a little while for them to show up.
Have a great month
Dave
Congrats on your OSITM Ethan, very nice looking pictures, and a great airport !

Congrats, Ethan ! My friend, you really deserved it ! &apls
Congratulations on your OSITM, it is well deserved.

Very nice rural residential neighborhood Ethan. That broad river is a nice touch. I can almost hear and feel the mosquitoes buzzing around my head sitting under the umbrella on that backyard patio.

Battlecat: Thanks, I love how this mosaic turned out.

Those are a great couple of mosaics, especially the first one. It gives me an impression that its based in the southern US somewhere, Alabama or Louisiana.
Great mosaics!
Another very nice looking mosaic! Great detailing work!
Two great mosaics there!
Nice work on the river!

BuildingUp: Thank you very much. The small town feel might be departing soon, that school is by Deadwoods, and is on the LEX, if you want it.
Batttlecat: Thank you, Battlecat. I really love the school, too.
I would also like to make this a NO LURKING update, if you're in the topic, please feel free to stop by and leave a comment, they are well appreciated.
Ethan
I'm very impressed with the beauty of your cities, and also with the quality of the images and the big number of details!!! Awesome update my friend!!! &apls &apls
Again, fantastic couple of pictures. I see the Police HQ building sneaking up in the last one, I love that building myself.
Two fantastic new pictures there!!!
I also really like the quality, and I really love the layout and streets. Excellent! &apls
Very nice shots once again! Love your use of green space and flora details in your urban area.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg220.imageshack.us%2Fimg220%2F138%2Fgaranjun2091268432258.jpg&hash=f86efe8c68812793b24201c7ee658d2a378802f7)
Tomas (Tomas Neto: Thank you, Tomas you really have been giving me lovely comments recently. I like how the new images are turning out, too, takes a while to complete though as I don't have photoshop. I really like to get down to the fine details.
nedalezz: Yeah, you caught the building. It's an Aussie BAT, and I think it fit the design of the city.
bat: Thank you!
BuildingUp: Thank you, I've been getting lots of quality compliments recently, although they look rather pixelized to me. :D I like the design of the streets too, it took me a while to lay them out before hand.
Battlecat: Thanks! I really like to have lots of green space in my cities. I guess I'm inspired by the city I live in and constantly go to.
I would like to continue the NO LURKING updates. Please do comment, I would love to see some new faces.
Ethan
Nice close up shot Ethan! :) I really like the building placement, makes it feel like it's in a.. SMALL TOWN!!
Haha.
Anyways great job as always man. &apls
Excellent update Ethan. I like your artistic use of trees and green space. Your suburbs look great in your closeups. I have a question for you. You don't seem to have Maxis homes in your pics. Is this the case throughout your cities? Are you using a mod?
Geoff
Alright, you caught me :P
Fantastic work, Ethan... you're CBD is looking great! Infact, everything looks brilliant. :D
I'll be around more, that's for sure...
Adrian.
Very nice work all around, nice with all the extra's for the OSITM.
I would like to suggest that being instructed not to lurk isn't exactly to my taste. &mmm
However, I did want to say congratulations on being of special interest this month.
The stuff you're showing looks really nice, and your picture editing/refining is a lovely sight to behold.
In regard to your update 3 updates ago, I really liked the mosaic - but I have a suggestion for you: Where you use Jeronij's TPW, you could lower the terrain in your waterway a little. That way, you won't be able to see the edge of the piece, and you won't have to smother the shoreline in reeds to hide it. The downside to this is that you can end up with kinda pointy looking waterways, but you can then use ploppable rocks and plants to soften it up. I don't know, its really up to you.
Mmmm... that whole comment sounds kinda negative. I'll close by saying that the content of your MD is really nice to look at. I'm sorry I didn't comment earlier, but you're doing great and have really earnt your place in OSITM. Keep it up.
Very nice update again my friend!!!
I like the closeup, I feel like im looking out of a balcony during the middle of the day :)
This newest teaser looks really great! Nice work!!
Ok, I confess. I have been lurking around here. ;D
Nice teaser. I want to see more.

BuildingUp: Thanks, my friend. Well, it is a small town, kindof. It's rather large for my standards. Thank you again!
Geoff (calibanX): Thank you Geoff. I really have been trying to get my flora to look better and I've been trying to get some more diversity in to them. I do use a Maxis blocker, the BSC No Maxis Files; available on the LEX. It is uniform throughout all of my new cities.
Adrian (adroman): Thanks, Adrian. I think it looks good too, if you can call it a CBD really, most of the retail commercial is actually on the outskirts of the town. Glad to see you here.
kwakelaar: Thank you, my friend.
Joel (joelyboy911): I'm sorry, Joel. I didn't want to come off as being pushy, I intended it to be more of a question, really. I knew that David had done this occasionally over at 3RR, and so has Dustin at Commenwealth of marathon, with good results. I had been a little dissapointed at the growth and I really wanted to see if it would work, which it did. :)
Thanks for the OSITM congragulations, they're really well appreciated. The picture editing takes a while but, I really think that it improves them by huge lengths. I have tried lowering the terrain for my plop water rivers, but it really isn't something I like to do a lot, as I like to find ways to wind the rivers through my cities; but I guess lowering it could work well for building bridges. Yeah, this was also not my best detailing, thanks for the suggestions, though.
I don't see your comment as negative, I tok it as constructive criticism, as would most. I do apologise again for sounding a bit rude in my posts.
Tomas (Tomas Neto): Thank you, Tomas.
nedalezz: Hmm, there is a hotel right around there... thanks, my friend.
bat: Thank you, bat!
Raphael (RickD): Thank you, Raphael. It's good to see you here, and back around in general.
Ethan
Great looking suburbs and interesting mixture of trees! I like how the rail line ends next to the factory.
Keep up with the great work!
Another great update. You don't need to apologise to me, you weren't rude at all - a little (very little) pushy perhaps. Maybe I shouldn't have even said it. I understand how underwhelming it can be when an MD update doesn't get the response you'd hoped for. In all truthfulness, and MD as good as yours, or David's or Dustin's doesn't need to push for extra comments (I wasn't keen on it when they did it either) - the pictures and their commentary do that job just fine. This is proven by your OSITM in this relatively early stage of the diary.
These pictures today are very nice. I like the industrial area shown in pictures 2 and 6. Your residential areas are very nice, I like the fact that you use so many trees.
Keep it up.
Great set of pictures Ethan. I really like the street layout and the industrial tease. Great job! &apls
Your newest update is really nice, ecoba! Great work on it... ;)
Great update, Ethan ! It' s a nice couple of pictures you made there.
I liked each of them, but I have a small preference for the first and the last ones. I love, in the first, how you mixed the houses and the vegetation, it's really well done. Also that school just fits there perfectly. The last picture is also very nice, I like the houses near the industrial warehouse and its railway, also the way the rail line ends just before the houses is a great touch.
The three others pictures are nice great combination of residential area and trees. Both are awesome. And the cul-de-sac street is a good add to this area.
Take care,
-Arthur.
Fantastic mix of shots in this update! I particularly like the industrial areas in this update.
Woww, fantastic suburbs and awesome industrial areas!!! Great update my friend!!!
I love the industrial area, if only I could get mine to look like that :(
I especially like the last picture, its looks great! I assume you did some lotting work to make the BAT come out like that?

Here is an overview of the 'CBD'. You can see how quickly it transitions to low-rise neighbourhoods. There is one more large block that is attached to the green-roofed building.
Ioan (io_bg): Thank you, Ioan. I really love Jeroni's trees as well, and I like the rail line too, I wanted it to be somewhat a 'decommisioned' line, if you know what I mean.
Joel (joelyboy911): Thanks, Joel. I really do feel sorry that it came off as that way, and I do think that I needed to at least let you know that I didn't want it to be like that. I can see your point and very clearly understand your point. Thank you for the really nice comment, Joel, and I'm glad we got this cleared over nicely. :)
BuildingUp: Thank you, I like how the industry turned out, too.
bat: Thank you, bat.
Arthur (art128): Thanks, Arthur. I do really like that school, it really suits the area nicely. I also really like the warehouses, Jess is a great BATter.
Battlecat: Thanks, my friend. I think I had to build some industrial because of the huge dosage we'd been getting over at Adara, but I think it could have been I didn't have any industry. :D
Tomas )Tomas Neto): Thank you, Tomas. I've been really liking the industrial mix, too; and apparently a lot of others do, too.
nedalezz: I think your industrials look great, my friend. I wish I could get mine to look like yours! :D No, I actually didn't have to do any lotting to make thiss BAT work as it does, it's actually a landmark, and Jess (jestarr) transit enabled the lot.
Ethan
Great business district Ethan. I like the green spaces, and you've done a nice job of placing JBSimio's Smalltown buildings. Looks great.
Take care.
Geoff
Thats a great picture - the quick transition is usually one tricky to pull off from low rise, but you managed to make it look great.
Nice looking pictures there! Your CBD looks great!
That's a fantastically green city you're putting together! Looks great!
Lots of nice things to see here. Quite an interesting setup for your CBD, certainly a different approach with a few large buildings and a lot of empty space around that area.
Great pictures
Yeah, great update again my friend!!!
Town looks good. ;)
Gah! It's been ten days since an update, well, let's rectify that.

A house across the street from the school burned down a couple of days ago. The lot has since been buldozed. If anyone would like to own the house that will be built on top of the old lot, let me know, and I'll make a custom one. If you would just like another house in town, let me know as well.
Geoff (calibanX): Thanks, Geoff. I love parks, and I also love Jon's wonderful set.
nedalezz: Thanks, I've been working a lot on transitions lately, I like this one especially.
bat: Thank you, my friend.
Battlecat: Well, I like to think that cities can never get too green. Thanks for the comment, my friend.
kwakelaar: Thanks! I like trying things that I haven't seen before, and I actually don't have that many mid-rise buildings, so I think it came out just like I intended. Thanks, once again, my friend.
Yann (Yan077): Thank you, my friend.
Tomas (Tomas Neto): Thanks, Tomas. Your comments are well appreciated, my friend.
Scott (scott1964): Thanks, my friend.
Ethan
I would like a burnt house, make mine slightly crispy. $%Grinno$% :P
Across from a school? That's perfectly good land! Rebuild that house.
Great update! I wouldnt mind owning that house. How much is the land worth?
To all those inquiring about the house, it will be rebuilt, if you would like it, or a cutom house somewhere on the tile, tell me what house you would like (what BAT), and I'll lot 'em and showcase them in the next update. :)
Ethan
Great looking update! I like the details you're putting in!

Colonial Manor :D
Beautiful river my friend, and I also liked how you detailed your city!!! Very nice work!!!
Great month in the OSITM category &apls &apls
The CBD looks great, some buildings are quite oversized, though (in my opinion) ()what()
Looking forward to more ,

Look at those great recycling trucks! :D
Scott (scott1964): Thanks, Scott. Hm, well a burnt house isn't available. As for a manor, what BAT would you like, specifically?
emgmod: Thanks. I'm definitely going to rebuild the house.
nedalezz: Thanks, my friend. Hm, well on a usual basis, it would cost (for the land) around 70,000 AUS, any specific house you'd like?
ecoba: Wait a minute... ???6
Battlecat: Thanks, my friend. I think that I've definitely started using some Adara techniques for the detailing.
Tomas Neto: Thanks, Tomas. Actually those rivers are irrigation canals, there are quite a few on this tile. Thanks again, my friend.
Fabian (Fabian93): Thanks for the nice comment, my friend. Really, oversize? Well, I guess I just built it in my style, I definitely see what you mean, though.
Thanks again, my friend.
I hope that I can post another update later today. I think it would be really cool if we could break 200 comments by the end of the day. Queenstown had 118 comments when the banner was posted, and this is post 186! Wow! Thank you all for such an amazing month. :)
Ethan
wow! well done &apls
actually I've never looked at this CJ, but that's going to change ;)
- Giel
Well you've been doing some excellent work, so it's well deserved! That farm today looks quite nice!
Yeah, my friend!!! Very nice update again!!! I really enjoyed the alternation between the forest and the empty spaces!!!
Very, very good work, my friend!
You have a knack for the Rural scenes you create, they look wonderful :)
I agree with Tomas 100%, the forest and the less dense scene mix is stunning..
Sorry I don't get around as much as I should, I know what I'm missing out on
Keep it up,
Adrian.

Giel (Gilikov1994): Thanks, my friend. I'm really glad you decided to stop by, I'm always happy to see a new face.
Battlecat: Thank you, my friend. That farm is the first Adara style farm to be showcased in Queenstown, you'll see another one today, and a lot more in the future. :D
Tomas (Tomas Neto): Thank you, my friend. I like the way the forest is blending into the fields here, too.
Adrian (adroman): Thank you so much, Adrian. Really, a knack you see? I feel like you are the master of down-under fields. I agree with Tomas and you, the forest to fields are one of my favourite parts of these recent updates. It's okay that you don't stop by every update, it's a pleasure to see you when you do stop in. :)

Sorry the image isn't of the best quality.
No replies, over a week? This really worries me; am I boring you guys? would you like to see something new? Please let me know if you would like to see anything, I really do appreciate it when you guys stop by...
Ethan
Ethan,
I am a habitual lurker but thought I would post to say how much I enjoy your MD. I wouldn't worry about the lack of comment - it is Easter and a lot of people will be on holiday/vacation.
I like your rural scenes and your small towns. I would be interested to see how you transition from cities and suburbs to rural areas and small towns if your MD goes in that direction.
Thanks and keep going!
Stewart
sorry i haven't been by in a while this is all fantastic work however.
Thats a great update, the last picture looks like a gem if only it was more clear. Otherwise, you really put together a great batch of pics! I especially love the first picture :)
Quoteam I boring you guys?
Definitely not. I have not really been online over the easter weekend. Been visiting the family. There is only very slow internet connection in the little village my parents live in. &mmm
I would like to see a better region shot. I can't really see anything on the one in your last post.
Very cool looking overviews. I like how green your cities are.
No, you're not boring us, Ethan !
I liked this update a lot my friend, the overview is wonderful and looks almost real. The third picture is also great, I like how the small row house mine is standing in front of the houses and in the center of nowhere. The region view looks great too my friend !
Take care,
-Arthur.
No, indeed do not worry about boring us, we all find this interesting. I would think it is only a coincidence that you have had no replies for a week.
The overview from your last update is looking great.

Stewart (stewart_garden): Thanks, my friend. I realize now that it was probably a hectic week for most people, and I completely forgot about Easter. Thank you again for your really nice comment, it really is appreciated.
John (mightygoose): Thank you, my friend!
nedalezz: Thank you, my friend. The region view was very hard to put together because as I transitioned from normal region census view to overhead view I have to make the picture bigger because otherwise it would be almost a tiny speck, and unfortunately the quality suffers greatly in this time. I'm really happy with the way that these last few updates have been turning out, so I'm glad that you're enjoying them, too. :)
Raphael (RickD): Thanks for the nice comment, Raphael. I wish that I could get a better region view, too, but for some reason my Region Census takes the pictures at very small sizes.
Battlecat: Thank you, my friend. I've been really in to green cities lately.
Arthur (art128): Thank you, Arthur. I like the way the overview turned out as well, but I wish that it could have been clearer. The third picture is from the tile that I'll be showing you today, and it is on the outskirts of what will be a much larger town. Thanks again for your nice comment, my friend.
kwakelaar: Thank you, my friend.
Ethan
What a great small update there, Ethan !
It's strange, I can't see the street along the road that is on the first picture, in the second one, have you deleted it ? Anyway, that small neighborhood looks really good, nice use of the smooth street curves. The two warehouse and that school fits there just very well.
Arthur.
Hej this looks very good! nice rural area's you've got there ;)
Good luck,
Giel
Very nice suburban / rural development!

As for this picture, Arthur, the second picture in the previous update was taken prior to the first one, so the street hadn't been built yet. Here's another overview from this morning.

Arthur (art128): Thank you, Arthur. I think I'll be posting a lot of small updates in the next couple of weeks instead of a bunch of large updates. As I said above, the second picture in that update was taken before the street in the first was constructed. I also like how the stores and school blend into the neighbourhood. :)
Giel (Gilikov1994): Thank you, Giel. Good to see you back, my friend. :)
Ioan (io_bg): Thank you, Ioan. :)
Ethan
Very good work, Ethan!
I like that greenery behind those shops there, it looks very good.
Your streets are always very leafy, SFBT Street Mod, right?
I also enjoyed looking at that creek that goes under the road, a very unique way of culvert-ing there, I like it ;)
Your railway system is very nice as well, I do like the overpass there.
Very good work, once again
Adrian.
The water in the first pic looks good. I like it that you have not overdone it with the ploppable shorline stuff. Is it an artificial canal as it does not go under the street?
Looks good! Nice layout for your town here!
Nice pond! I like the street layout!

Adrian (adroman): Thank you, Adrian. I also like having a small park behind my commercial blocks, I think it sort of serves as a buffer zone between the residential and commercial districts. I do use the SFBT street mod, it's wonderful. The rocks are sort of my temporary culvert for the canals at the moment, as I haven't gotten the RRP culverts installed yet (I don't know why...). I also like the way that the overpass turned out, Jeroni's walls are excellent. Thank you again, my friend.
Raphael (RickD): Thank you, my friend. Those are artificial canals, but they do go under the street, through a culvert hidden beneath the rocks. (That is non-existant, but we can pretend, eh?)
Battlecat: Thank you my friend.
Jordan (canyonjumper): Thank you, my friend. I like the way the streets run in this town as well.
Ethan
Lovely picture there, Ethan ! The lights of the cars and the lamp posts really gives it the way ! &apls
Great Night Picture. :D

Ahh, I see. Sure we can. ;D
Love the night shot.
Awesome night shot, Ethan! I like the lighting of the street lights ;D

Great looking night shots, but it seems the houses have no lights in them?

You have fantastic green spaces. Most cities have a great deal of green space in them. Beautiful work as always Ethan.
Geoff
Very nice update! The urban areas look great and fantastically green. Shame you're having trouble with the night lighting.

A small update, showing some of the ever growing suburbs. Queenstown might be undergoing some changes soon, nothing major though, and the next few updates might take a while to prepare. There will possibly be a few farm updates in this time as I prepare something new. :)
Replies next time.
Very nice Ethan! Looking forward to these changes ;D
-Jordan
Well, this is just sortof a filler update, nothing new. I got the nightlights to work, so this is an update showing the cities at night and I was also messing around in GIMP, so there's some new formatting for the whole shebang.

Geoff (calibanX): Thank you, Geoff. I really do love green spaces and I try to incorporate them as much as possible into my cities. :)
Battlecat: Thank you, my friend. I really love how green the whole region looks, you also have made very green cities and they look wonderful as well. Thank you again, my friend. :)
Jordan (canyonjumper): Thank you, Jordan. I really love the greenspace as well, and I'm glad that you're looking forward to those changes; I am too. :D

Great you got the lights working. Looks good.
With the nightlights, it looks even better, Ethan! Great work!

You have an interesting style, I'll be passing by here more often.
you region i like.
Great looking night shots, glad you got the lights working!
very nice pictures there, Ethan ! I love the GIMPage you've made on them.
The third one is my favorite, I like how the big buildings (that tower and the long block) are mixed with the small row houses. The pictures with the train stations are also very nice.
Take care !

I agree with Kalvar...: You have an interesting style, very interesting!!! Awesome update again my friend!!! &apls &apls

Battlecat: Thank you, my friend. I love the nightlights, too! :)
Arthur (art128): Thank you so much, Arthur. I really love that photoshopping as well, and I plan to do it again. I really like that picture, too, the wide variety of elevation that is in this city really seems to add an extra demension, in my mind. Thank you for stopping by, my friend. :)
Tomas (Tomas Neto): Thank you so much, my friend. I'm glad to see you back around, and Vale Paulista is looking as great as ever, too! :)
Ethan
Excellent work as usual! Heh, those troublemaking kids love covering those trees in toilet paper! $%Grinno$%
Great mosaic Ethan! Where did you get the house under construction? I've been looking everywhere and I cannot find it.
-Jordan
Great MD!
Nice pics. I like the athmosphere and the house under construction is a nice detail.
This "toilet paper over tree"-effect always puzzled me. How did Maxis get this strange idea? Do kids in the USA actually do this?
Great rural area, fantastic pics my friend!!! Awesome!!!
Thank you for all the great repies my friends!

And a recent region view. Sorry for the small size, but Region Census won't take any larger pictures, and my apologies for the empty tile, that will be mostly farms, with only about 500 people living there.
sumwonyuno: Thank you so much, my friend. Good to see you back on the forums. :)
Jordan (canyonjumper): Thank you, Jordan. I've sent you a PM about those homes, for anyone else that would like them and doens't have them just send me a PM. :)
976: Thank you, my friend. :)
Raphael (RickD): Raphael, thank you so much. I really like the way this area is turning out as well, and to be honest, the homes under construction was just a lucky shot. Some people in the USA and other countries (I think) pull this as a prank on some people, however, those trees are from Jeroni's streetside mod. :)
Tomas (Tomas Neto): Thank you, Tomas. Your comments are always so nice, my friend. :)
I've been thinking, since the next few updates would mainly be farms anyway, if you'd like an 'interlude' of sorts. I have a region that's been on hold for a while, and it's quite interesting if I do say so myself. So, what I'd like to know is if you want me to continue showing you the farms, or if you want me to show you some other developments, finish the farms, and then show you the whole of the (currently) blank tile on the region view.
Also, my friend BlondeTwiggy from ST has kindly reviewed Queenstown for me, at my request.
A Story of Small-Town Beauty: Queenstown by Ecoba
Ecoba seamlessly merges nature and small-town civilization in his 12-page Mayor Diary, Queenstown.
Mosaics showcase the sleepy Queenstown best. One sprawling mosaic is hardly more than a smattering of houses and a stream weaving through pines. In others, houses are spaced generously—a relief from American vinyl-coated houses crammed a meter from each other—and citizens maintain trees and gardens. A short fence reigns in a waving corn field, while nearby, a sleek station services a train. Several Sims wait on the platform, unhurried.
The most crime we encounter is a TP'ed tree in a backyard. Next to a brick two-story, russet horses graze in a fenced area. Cows too often fleck the countryside.
Ecoba's mosaics somehow pack these cozy images into an 800-pixel-wide space.
At page 6, we see a "side project" of Ventiseri: square wall-to-wall amid leafy plazas. Ecoba shows his dexterity with a bit of custom lotting while giving a nod to upscale European cities.
After winning "Of Special Interest" award for March 2010, Ecoba transports us back to the harmony of small-town life. Trees again reign supreme, sometimes beaten back by a brook. Worrying if he is "boring us" with the mundane, he wonders why comments are sparse. And why so? He has kept pressing on and certainly deserves your accolades: visit it now.
Ethan
Great update again my friend, very nice!!! In my opinion I prefer that you keep showing us your farms, because I love the rural areas!!!
Sorry I havent passed by in a while - I just got back from my business trip and doing my catching up now :)
Your MD is truly wonderful, and I loved the last couple of updates. Perhaps you can give us a bit of the farms and the other region in the next few updates?
Still waiting for your house to grow :(
Well nice update!

This is just a taste of what might come from my other region that I've been working on for quite a while. Recently, Queenstown has been lacking in inspiration, and I've been working on this map, as well, a side project, to say.
This map is going to be mainly in the sense of American realism. I'll try to finish most of the areas that I'll be showing you before I update, and after a while I'll go back to Queenstown, as I feel that it will call to me, in a way, soon. :)
Tomas (Tomas Neto): Thanks, Tomas; your replies always make me smile. :) There will still be some farm updates every once in a while, as I try to work on my rural realism.
nedalezz: Well, welcome back, my friend, its fine that RL has pulled you away for a while. Your comments really warm my heart, to have what I consider an SC4 legend like you say such nice things about my MD, well, it really does mean a lot to me. I think that's what I plan to do for the next couple of updates. Don't worry about the house, as I said in your wonderful MD, it'll grow when it grow, eh? :)
976: Thank you, my friend. :)

I really like that you've filled in those empty spaces with the ploppable flora. ;D
After a long period of instability and to be honest I was quite nervous when I was having technical issues a while back, I have finally gotten my new region for the Queenstown Redeux up.
With this I must thank dobdriver for all his help and patience over the past couple of days. He helped me to get mapper running on my machine smoothly, and should be able to for anyone with vista. ;) Thanks dob!

Here's the map I'll be developing Queenstown on. I'll be using a lot of real-life influences while working on this region, and as usual probably won't be showing you any work-in-progress pictures, unless I decide to show you all how I do something (or if you guys ask, of course ;)). I will probably be naming most everything from the beginning now and will be working around my influences to create the look I want.
In a nutshell, Queenstown is back and better than ever! Expect updates soon! :)
Please tell me guys what you think of this new take, your comments mean the world to me!
Ethan
You have chosen a very nice region with interesting geographical features. Nice hills for some cool rural development and enough flat land to build a city on. I can see lots of potential.
Naming everything will be challenging but I like it.
I think this will be great.

Wooww Ethan, fantastic region!!! I'm sure that we'll see amazing updates, here in your MD, my friend!!!
Well, here we go again. I have a small teaser for you all today. Nothing really special, been working on the centre of one of the region's main cities, Groenfontein. :)
This region is mainly inspired by South Africa and Australia, and Groenfontein is roughly based off of the city of Bloemfontein. I'm lookig for some more W2W that doen't look necessarily European, and rather poor-looking, if not regular. I don't want to use, say Parisian buildings here though, as that wouldn't be realistic at all. I'm using a few Dutch buildings, as the Dutch had a presence in South Africa, however most of the lovely Dutch buildings are growable only, and I haven't been able to find props for these buildings in the LE yet... &mmm . If you guys have any suggestions on W2W, I'd love to hear it !

What a nice map there, Ethan ! I'm sure you will build an even best region than you already have ! Also nice work with that very last picture, that Parisian W2W looks great in that place.
Take care,

Well, now that time has come around again; an update ! I've been working hard at the downtown of Groenfontein, the city that I'll be showcasing first in the redeux. I have been able to solve most of the W2W situation, however I would still love suggestions ! :)
So here is an update of Groenfontein's downtown, at night !

Oh yeah..., I like this update a lot my friend!!! Fantastic night shots!!! &apls
Great work. I especially lilke the first pic. Interesting perspective and the nightlighting is very good.
That's a fantastic looking new region! I like the recent downtown shots you've posted!
Great pics Ethan!
I dont know what it is about that last shot that just really appeals to me :)
Another great collection of shots, and I am sure I am speaking for everyone when I say we are looking forward to seeing you develop that new map :)
Well, it's now been well over a month since my last update, and I feel that I should explain.
I have recently lost all interest in this version of Queenstown, for some reason, it really just is not working for me. &mmm However, I have several ideas for new MDs, and I would definitely like to continue MDing on this site. :)
So my question for all of you is, whether or not I should continue my MD in this thread. I feel that this thread has become very cluttered, with all my different experiments and projects, and that it may just be time for me to start clean with a new thread, after retiring this one to the archives. It would probably be a few weeks before I could get any update out of these new projects, as I would like to clean up my plugins a little bit, and I haven't even downloaded the new NAM yet... &mmm
So if all of you could just tell me what you think would be best, that would be great ! :)
Take care,
Ethan
Hey Ethan,
This is what I think and what I tell everyone else when this sort of circumstance comes up.
I would continue the MD, you have already put so much work into this one and have a great group of followers. You have made your way to the Best Sellers section with 261 replies now and over 9527 views, why put all that to waste by letting this MD go to the Archive section where very few members visit. I would suggest that you make a table of contents in your first post, possible linking all your updates with some sort of title. I can give you a nice code to make a nice ToC if you would like. We can continue this conversation in your MD so everyone can learn this or we can continue in PMs, which ever you would like.
[tabular type=2]
[row][head]Title[/head][head]page and link[/head][/row]
[row][data]Terraforming[/data][data]1[/data][/row]
[row][data]The Ocean[/data][data]2[/data][/row]
[/tabular]
The above is just a basic example. We can change it just about however you would like. I also didn't link anything. ;)
Robin
I do like that idea, Robin. Perhaps just starting with a new page would work as well as starting a new MD ? Perhaps these posts on this page could be deleted and I would edit my top post accordingly when I was able to prepare the update? :)
I would love to see the coding for creating a table of contents ! Would be benificial to know in the future as well. I guess we could continue this here for now and then delete until post 260 accordingly, maybe? ()what()
Maybe we could temporarily lock it for a few weeks while I get everything back up and running again as well ? &mmm
Ethan :)
Sorry for the double post.
Anyway, in about a week or so you will hopefully see some more updates from me. If you remember a little glimpse of Ventiseri from quite a while back, well that is now a full blown-out CJ, and to be posted here. This post will be edited to be the introduction post, so a little bit longer and then I'll hope to be back in full swing (no matter how slow that is... :P)
Ethan :)
Hi Ethan!!! I agree with the comment made by Robin! In my opinion it would be the best alternative!

Ventiseri (Grecco: ßεντισέρι; Ventèr: Vintisari), officially the Principality of Ventiseri (Grecco: Πριgιπάτας τςςι ßεντισέρι; Ventèr: Prinċipatu da Vintisari) is a small country in southwestern Atlantica Alba, on the northeastern end of the Alban Peninsula. Ventiseri has land borders with Murcia to the south, Movia to the west, and Demetae to the north and east. Over eighty-five per-cent of Ventiseri consists of mountains, of which Mount Parahelia is the highest, at 4,317 m (14,163 ft).
Modern Ventiseri traces its roots to the ancient Greccoian civilisations, and therefore has historical ties with many other nations in the region. Although, mainly because of its size and vulnerability, Ventiseri has long been dominated by foreign powers. Through much of its post-Roman history, Ventiseri was fragmented into numerous kingdoms and city-states, yet was unified in the 19th century.
Ventiseri is one of the few modern nations that still follows a polytheistic religion, with the majority of the population being Grecco polytheists. Ventiseri has recently been featured in many luxury travel magazines such as Condé Nast Traveller, National Geographic, and Travel + Leisure. Ventiseri is also one of the most expensive countries to live in.

Very nice. Great new start.
OMG &apls &apls I Like the river my friend ! Great job
Very Nice
It's excellent, but I find it a bit too "nordic" to be in the south of Europe
Guillaume
A great fresh start, with a country that is being made up in your own mind. I always like these kind of ideas and to see what the different MD makers come up with.
Well your teaser shots are amazing!
I, like everyone else who reads this MD, cannot WAIT for the first update :)
Im sure you've got something wonderful in store for us!
AWESOME, really great!!! &apls &apls

Well, after quite a break, I have a new update for Ventiseri (finally! ::) ). I hope you all will enjoy it. :)
Today we focus on a small river near the centre of Ventiseri; the Sieve.

This will part of my new take on the MD, being more like a trip through villages and rural areas, finishing in Ventiseri's capital city, Vorgia, which will be quite a task to complete. I hope you all like it. :)
RickdD: Thank you, Raphael ! :)
kelis: Thanks a lot, my friend ! I'm glad you enjoy it. :)
peter007: Thank you ! :)
Sciurus: Thank you very much, Guillaume ! How do you think about it is "nordic"; also remind to you that Ventiseri is at a very high elevation (or it oculd just be my photoshopping :p)
kwakelaar: Thank you a lot, Gjermund ! I also very much like "countries" within the game. :)
nedalezz: Thank you so very much, Nedal ! I hope you will enjoy this update as much as you did the last. :)
Tomas Neto: Thank you, Tomas ! Your comments always make me smile. :)
Yan077: Thank you, Yan !

Great landscaping there. :)

Indeed I did :)
You really spent your time working on every last detail, and the river bed looks great :)

After a short while I'm back with another update, still of Ventiseri's rural areas. I hope you will enjoy this as much as before; hopefully I can have a city update next time, it may just be a while longer. :)
A rural manor, not uncommon in Ventiseri, at the foot of a small range of hills which grow into larger mountains. So close to civilisations, you can still so a lot of wildlife in the hills.

io_bg: Thank you, Ioan; it's good to be back ! I'm glad you like the detailing this update. :)
cubby420: Thank you, Andrew ! It's nice to hear you think my photos are so realistic, as that's one aspect I go for when creating Ventiseri in-game. Hope to see you again soon. :)
art128: Glad you like it, Arthur ! It's nice to be back for good as well ! :)
marsh: Yes, sheep ! D: Thank you ! :)
nedalezz: Oh, good; glad you like it ! I really like the way that the river bed ended up this time as well ! :)

Congratulations on rebooting your MD with Ventiseri. I've too long lurked over the past year and some, and you've been far too kind with your comments over at 3RR. I'll do better.Quotehopefully I can have a city update next time, it may just be a while longer
I could look at your rural pics for quite a while longer, my friend. Sheep and all.
David
That terrain mod seems to be working great. In the right spots the flowers from it are showing through. :P
Also, I agree with dedgren. I lurv rural. ;D

Back again with an update from Ventiseri ! Today we are visiting a small, mountain area known as Mont Siel. The area is home to just a few people, and most of them keep sheep in their pastures.

I hope you all liked this small update. Soon a special update featuring Ventiseri's capital, Vorgia, will be published. :)
Tomas Neto: Thank you, Tomas ! I'm glad you like the photoshopping for this area. :)
noahclem: Thank you ! I'm glad to hear you like this area, and welcome to Ventiseri (I believe this is the first time you have posted). :)
art128: Why, thank you, Arthur ! Glad to hear you like the effect of the blur, as I think it is a very good one as well ! :)
Sciurus: Thank you, Guillaume !
dedgren: Thank you, David, for your kind post ! We all lurk (I have been recently at 3RR, so it's no speciality :P). This again was a rural update, but I believe the next one will indeed be a city one. :)
marsh: Thank you, marsh ! I'm pleased as well with the effects of the Italia Terrain Mod (the one I am using). It looks very well at high elevations. ;)
Ethan
Nice landscapes Ecoba &apls &apls
My friend, awesome mountain area!!! Fantastic update!!! &apls &apls
You do an amazing job with your forests! &apls Nice tranquil area. I believe you're right that that was the first time I've posted here which surprises me! I look forward to getting the chance to play with fauna and more rural areas in the game.
Great update looks a wonderfully remote and quiet place
Will
A lovely and quiet place, great pictures Ethan !
Heh, well done! I really like the area where the sheep are... though it seems the sheep are overgrazing. :P I usually see all green grass when people create farms, but it's more realistic to expect brown dirt and grass both concentrated and dispersed.
Love the rurality Ethan, very well detailed!
Your friend,
Jordan
Nice work you have done, great atmosphere in the shots you show us.
Well this is what I get for not paying attention! I've apparently missed all your recent updates up until today! Love the detailing in this new region! The farms today are particularly eye catching!
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg594.imageshack.us%2Fimg594%2F3100%2Fventiseribanner.jpg&hash=bddbcccd3c2ec58061a842fb68f27effb9a71c8f)
Well, I've managed to get a small update about more of Ventiseri's rural areas today (very small ::)). We will see the area of Val de Sierotte, a small river valley in the northwest of the country, an area hardly inhabited.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg713.imageshack.us%2Fimg713%2F1540%2Fsierotteupdatetop.jpg&hash=bcdc6f5a816bb0b3852aa5c75e572d92a88b50af)

Ventiseri's river valleys are a perfect example of the country's environment, as well as agriculture. The rough terrain makes farming difficult, and in minor river valleys, especially like that of the Sierotte, there is little flat land between the river's bank and the mountainside. Roads are very uncommon in these areas, and more common are small paths, if even they are present. Fords are the most common way to cross a river, considering the low traffic and large costs of building bridges, not to mention that every square centimetre of land suitable for grazing is extremely valuable. Most residents of these high valleys herd sheep for their living, however some also work for businesses remotely, or even run their own businesses through the internet, which has reached nearly every corner of the country. Isolated citizens can order items from stores in the city and receive them delivered, free of charge, by a government delivery system twice a week.
Girafe: Thank you, Antoine ! :)
Tomas Neto: Thank you so much, Tomas ! :)
noahclem: Thank you, Noah ! I'm glad you like the way that I have detailed my forests, and I'm glad to once again see you here. :D I wait eagerly to see what you can create with the flora in the game. :)
penguin007: Thank you, Will ! I'm glad you like this area ! :)
Yan077: Thank you, Yan ! I'm so glad you enjoy this, and some of your work is a great inspiration for this, meaning a lot ! :)
sumwunyuno: Thank you so much ! I think that the brown grass is also more realistic, also to mention that Mont Siel is a place with a higher altitude and of drier areas than some other portions of Ventiseri, however, the grass will remain well, and the sheep will not have to move either. :P
canyonjumper: Thank you, Jordan ! Glad to hear you are liking the updates. :)
kwakelaar: Thank you, Gjermund ! Indeed, I hope I have created a good atmosphere for such an area, thank you. :)
Battlecat: Missing updates is nothing major; I missed many of yours as well, no apologies are needed. :P Anyway, I'm glad you are liking the work on Ventiseri ! :)
Ethan
Some nice updates.
Nice picture of that river and house!
The other updates are also great!

Well, I'm back after quite a while off from updating... just haven't had the time to do much in SC4. Anyway, this will be the first update where I show my new region, and it will move from the outlying rural areas into the city of Vorgia.
