Lately (but not every time) when I fire up the game, it tries to connect to the internet. My system always asks if I want to block it when it does. Why would it do this and how can I stop it?
Also is there a way to copy the game to either the hard drive or perhaps a memory stick so the cd/dvd reader does not have to be used? I thought I saw something reguading this a while back but couldn't find it.
Thanks
Gaston
The first part, sounds like something very suspicious is going on. I know from the main menu of SimCity 4, there is a button that used to have you go to the SimCity 4 website. The SimCity website since has changed with the times
The second part, there is, BUT, due to the nature of how it has to be done, its not something that would be uncensored to speak of here. ??? ()what()
Alright, that other way involves what people do usually who are not up to paying for a game to begin with, I can say its risky. If others have not experienced crashing that way, I would be surprised, but at that point, those players may also have messed with the exe to begin with, and may have been able to patch up the game's crashing, if they were going to get past the authorization validation when it asks during installation, which also has to be tampering of the exe.
I heard rumors that in Sweden they were trying to do something to make source code of programs forced to be accessible, or something. Anyway, something like that would at least allow Sweden players to finally be able to patch up the exe, so it would not be illegal to redistribute that. But at least, in the US, it still is.

Thanks for the sort of information. :D I remember someone bringing up the second part quite some time ago. That answers why I never heard more. Unfortunately my dvd/cd reader is starting to fail. (doesn't want to run at speed) So I may have to not play till I can get a new external one. That's why question number two (2) anyway. Maybe someone out there has had something similar happen like question one. I have run all sorts of antivirus / antispywear programs and so far nothing has found anything.
