Title: Tree-lined farm fields?
Post by: Dreamcat on November 01, 2009, 12:39:25 PM
Hullo all, it's time for another request from me...apparently I am just not that great at finding things.

I am looking for some tree-lined field packs, if any more exist.  I have one in there, and it's great, but it only has a few different varieties.  Are there any other sets of farm fields that have trees built in to the side of them?  I hope you know what I mean.  They're in the park menu, and you plop them on the outside edge of your fields to give them a nice, tree-lined appearence.

Help?  Thanks...

Well, I actually using the following for that purpose:

Suico Farm Fences
http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=4585

SFBT Diagonal Filler Lots

BSC Hedges
http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=283

RRP Wooden Fences
http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1888

What kind of tree-lined field packs is it you're using? Could be of interest for me, too.

There are some great seasonal tree lots on the 3RR Exchange (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=5603.0).  Some of them are 1 tile wide lots that would be perfect for lining fields.  They don't have the fields attached, but they may work.

I think you'll find that most of the time people use Ploppable Trees for their farm fields, there aren't any specific lots...

I agree with what's been said: 3RR has some excellent lots and ploppable trees... Try looking up Jeronij's trees on the LEX, they're excellent models...

However, if these don't suit you, I recommend LOTing some yourself.

This is something I threw together for the GRVII challenge. I modified Sucio's fences that Rady linked you to in the above post. I used some trees by MJB, JRJ, and CP. Added some invisible trees (my contribution) and put all 12 into a prop family.

I then added grass overlays to the lots to extend the 'ditch' into the field. This so the fence would sit on grass and not in the field. Plus it also provides room for trees.

This is how it looks in the lot editor.

And this is how it looks in the game from a birds eye perspective.

The lots (field with fence and random trees) you see here are not on the LEX or STEX. They can be easily made using already existing props and textures.

Invisible trees? What a great idea! :) This should provide enough randomness indeed, esp, when mixed with prop families.
