:D Very good job Dan! You know, when I checked back for spelling errors and the like, I saw you were viewing. And I thought, "Hmm, I think Dan might leave a comment."! Lol. ::) $%Grinno$% /&HiPP/% Edit: That's the reason for the laughing smiley.
WOW
Dam in the desert! &apls
Very cool idea for a thread here Driftmaster07! I like the start you've gotten on yours, going to be interesting to see the finished product. Dan, that's a gorgeous dam and spillway structure!
Here's my contribution to this thread, from my MD Adara, near the town of Vavenby. This was based off the design of large scale real world earthen dams.

Great dams guys! &apls
Battlecat - very good idea!. I like the overflow channel :)

The spillway walls are actually mostly unmodified versions of Jeronij's modern retaining walls. The only difference is I've modded a copy without the fences and some of the vegetation props to use in a few places (including the shoreline behind the dam). They are available here (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=131) on the LEX and show up in your transportation extra's menu.
Thanks for the link. I will be posting a new dam here soon. That one isn't quite working out for me. &mmm Edit: Well, maybe not... ;)
An early picture here :-[

Wow, great work! I'd like to ask though, how did you make that dam thing in the first pic?
Also, a &apls to all other pics!
Your dams are just splendid, great work. &apls
Nice job! Here's progress on mine.

It is "cut off" because I have only terraformed on that one tile.
Those are some mighty fine dams. Wish I could do something like that. &mmm :o
Really nice progress.
Dam! That is nice!

It is very easy. Just find a high mountain/gorge. Then build it flat to put a water plop thing on it. Make a big wall for the damm itself, the a spillway and such. Oh, and don't forget a lake or something for the runoff. ;)
@louistsw - great work! Those are really beautiful dams! &apls
@Driftmaster07: It will be really good dam, I like it!
I have only one comment: both the channel below the spillway and the river below the dam haven't natural sides as on louistsw's second picture. They are manmade and this is OK, of course the river needed to be regulated :). But in this case natural looking stones and boulders don't seem apropriate, engineers would rather use stones of similar size. It will look more as an engineers' than nature creation :) (but of course you decide )

Ioan, do you see two waterfront pieces below the bridge? Both these pieces and the dam are parts of an old Japanese waterfront set. Unfortunately I don't remember where I downloaded them from, but I will try to check it. This is a great set (except yellowish grass texture IMO :)), but it is a bit difficult to use it together with another waterfront sets - it looks different.

I was sort-of just trying to get it finished. This was the first time I ever used the PPonds and all their uses. Here is the completed product (I will be getting rid of the rocks soon).

Btw, the rocks in the spillway are also a temporary fix. ;)
Hello
Here is my first (and only) dam, located in my city Mount Pegasus...
at day...

Thomas
Noticing the large waterfall, wouldn't it make sense to build a dam on that cliff, as it has a larger hight difference?
Regards,
Korot
Hello Korot
Maybe the whole situation is not very realistic. Here is a another shot of the dam and Waterfalls:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ld-host.de%2Fuploads%2Fimages%2F3840a6efb262962385add0e50bd634ed.jpg&hash=ef8480dab2c1b4a7e735e019c5e59e2d023d4cdd) (http://www.ld-host.de/)
I Think this is the best place to build a dam. Sorry, my english is too bad to explain it in detail.
Happy new year,
Thomas
Anyone think they could have a go at Fairbairn Dam from Central Queensland Australia?

Also, now 2 years ago, it flooded in my town, so i just thought i would show some before an aftershots of this damn, lcated 25 kilometres from my town.

And After/During.
G'day
Great work everybody, here is something I am working in at the moment, it's loosely based on a dam called Presa Madin near Mexico City. Please provide some feedback!
Cheers!! :o

Wow, harishna. That is one gorgeous picture you've taken. The whole structure looks really good, and the variety of plant life around it is spectacular. One suggestion would be to turn off the grid in the pictures, though. ([CTRL]-G) Another suggestion could be to replace the curves in the upper left of the pictures with the wide radius curves found in the NAM.
Ethan
thanks for the comments ecoba, I'll remember to use ctrl-G next time, and I do agree that the wide curves would give it a more natural look.
I think that a proper spillway or a propable dam set would be great additions to the game.
