Great bridge Jeroni. But I don't like the antialiasing, it takes too much detail out of it (sorry, I'm traumatized by it after my P.P. :D)

he he he... I am sorry for those who dont like this one, but this is a closed project. This bridge was modelled and rendered almost one year ago. At that time, my knowledge was just enough for that  ::)

sarungman, the blue roof is my special signature. I like this blue. It gives the bridge its personality  ;)

I love this bridge as it is .... ;) ... for the day to come I'll use bridges . ;D
At this time I'm just envious of these streetlamps .... there's a real lack of such good streetlamps available as props . ::)
But I'm diverting ...

... anyway , wonderful work .

The model looks excellent Jeronij - well done.  I have downloaded it from the LEX and it is sure to find a place in my city soon.

I have travelled over the RL bridge but because the airport express rail is on the lower deck you don't really know you are on the bridge (or at least I didn't know I was on the bridge!).

Thank you very much for your great Bridge works Jeroni and good Bridges Team members!! &apls

I downloaded ,tested this bridge.
but I have a problem about this. :-[

It was not displayed normally ()sad()
I could see a menu icon(in bridges menu) and drug a Elevated HW.
I could see only "The Wire which hangs a bridge" and not see other elements at all. ()sad()

Of course, I already was get "SC4 Bridges Controller" too.

and I tested it only one data "Tsing Ma Bridge (Hong Kong) Single Deck" at my "Plugins" folder too.

Are all of you displayed normally? ()what()
If you have any advice to it, Please give me your good idea ;)

Thank you.

Please, check that you have a subfolder called "TsingMa Bridge Models" The pieces are inside this folder.
Tell me something pls.

It seems there is something wrong with the file. Locked until I can find the mistake.

Ok, I found the mistake and corrected it. I will upload the corrected version later this evening. I have to remake the installer  ::)

Is there any chance eye candy lots could be developed that make it appear like rail/glr lines are running under the bridge, but a with a conversion to subway just before they go under the el-highway?

Well, the bridge has four rail lines built in. You can see them in the pictures. There exists also puzzle pieces to allow trains (train and glr) and cars use the bridge, and there is a working double deck version in the NAM Team test center, which has not been released because of a technical problem with traffic congestion  ::) , but I am sure this will be solved somewhen in the future, and the DD version will also be available  ;)

I've actually been having the same problem with nearly all of my custom bridges. I haven't figured out how to fix it yet, but I do know my bridge controller is fully updated.
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge

Please, make sure you dont have any duplicated file, or any old bridges controller file installed, which loads after the NAM.

I' confused. Okay, what should I look for in my plugins folder, and take out to fix the bridge. I have had this problem with other NAM bridges, they would work, then dissapear, and I just reinstall them to see them again. But not for this bridge. I can't see it at all in the game. I really want this bridge. Please Please Help! Thanks.

This bridge needs a very long span in order to be seen; make sure the gap you are trying to place the bridge over is large enough.

Hey Jeronij, Dethsrow here i just have to say first of all this rocks as many of your other projects do. second i would like to ask since you make bridges, would you be interested in recreating bridges in NYC? I am trying to recreate NYC and it would be a blast to have these bridges.
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge
Post by: threestooges on January 20, 2009, 11:33:05 PM
Welcome to SC4D Dethsrow. It may seem like a daunting task to learn to BAT, but I recommend you give it a try. New York Style bridges sound like great additions, and I may try one or two myself at some point in the future, but the number of bridge builders is presently small (and most have their own projects in the works at the moment). If you are interested in learning, or giving it a shot, an excellent BAT tutorial can be found here (http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=140&threadid=78721&enterthread=y) and Jeronij made an excellent tutorial showing how to turn yout models into bridges. We're here to help you too if you need it. Again, welcome to SC4D, and enjoy your time here.

if you should decide to try Dethsrow, I'll be more than glad to help ya along the way  :) (i only picked up the BAT June last year).  we need a couple more bridge builders around to keep up the amount of new network stuff in the NAM.....

I am dying here! I have tried everything to get this bridge, and the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, to work! Not matter what I do, neither bridge appears in my game. I have tried re-loading the game, re-downloading the bridges, I have every update for the game, I have made sure the area is long enough for the bridges, I have the latest NAM and I have used the NAM essential to update the bridge controller, and the bridges still don't appear! I need help!
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge
Post by: Andreas on February 14, 2009, 03:35:36 AM
Did you use the correct network (I think elevated highways)? Also, is the bridge span wide enough? The bridge only appears in the bridge selection menu if there's enough room between the shores.
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge
Post by: jeronij on February 14, 2009, 06:08:16 AM
Temporarily rename your plugins folder. Create a new empty one. Install only the files needed to draw the briges (that's the NAM and the bridges themselves) and try. If it works, then you  have some old file which is corrupting your NAM when you load the game. Find and remove it and you are done ;)

I hope this helps (at least to discard a reason  ;D )
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge
Post by: Tommy7777 on February 21, 2009, 06:46:48 AM
Okay, here's the deal. I have other NAM bridges installed, and the work fine, then I have a few that appear once, then disapear, then I have bridges that don't show up at all.

Any chance of this being retextured for the RHW? We could use a good suspension bridge...
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge
Post by: choco on February 21, 2009, 08:05:21 AM
 ;)

edit:

i should expand a bit :)

there may be a small problem with pathing.  maxis assumed when writing the game that any 2-tile networks would have traffic traveling in opposite direction on each side of the bridge.  the exemplar, by default, rotates the repeat piece (16x16) 180 degrees for the other side, which reverses the paths.  any RHW8/10 bridges need to overcome this issue, since they're essentially 2-tile one-way bridges.....i think it can be dealt with in the RULs, so it may not be a big issue at all.  &mmm

i am actively looking for a solution though, to finish the arch bridge that i posted in my thread.

Hey, any way you could tell me what you removed? I am wondering now because I think I might have the same problem as you did.

Edit: I have sucessfully gotten the bridge to work. I also may have came up with a solution. I copied and pasted my NAM folder from my plugin (renamed folder) to my plugins folder and and ran SC4. No luck. I then uninstalled NAM and reinstalled it, as well as a few bridges. It worked. So now, I am happy.

After numerous testing trying different bridges, and the Tsing Ma at a higher height, I've come to realize that no ferries can pass underneath it, it looks like it smashes into a brick wall when trying in UDI, and no paths show in the transportation map. Any idea if this is fixable?

Indeed. Thanks for the heads up Kitsune. It looks like the repeat piece exemplar was set to serve as a bridge obstruction. I'll contact Jeronij to see if he would mind us releasing the fix.

Apparently, the fix didnt fix the issue, the ferries still cant get under the bridge.

Post by: threestooges on March 19, 2009, 11:25:45 AM
Heh, that's because I haven't finished updating the file yet. Sorry about the delay, school picked up on me, but I'm hitting a slower patch here. I'll take care of it this afternoon and send to Jeronij. If you are comfortable with the Reader you can just go in and remove any reference to "bridge obstruction" properties (setting them to false doesn't work). However, unless you're comfortable with it, I'd suggest caution... bridges like the Tsing Ma are a bit more complex than the average 3-piece.
-Matt
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge
Post by: choco on March 19, 2009, 12:00:53 PM
i just downloaded the tsing ma again.....

the installer was updated and has the correct modification date matching the file I altered for review.  meaning, the file on the LEX does NOT have the "bridge obstruction" property on the repeat piece......see the attached image.

i've used the obstruction property set as false in a couple other bridges, and not had this problem.  we may be barking up the wrong tree here.....
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge
Post by: Kitsune on March 19, 2009, 12:29:13 PM
Maybe it has something to do with the double deck? The bridge available is fully pathed for road and rail.
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge
Post by: threestooges on March 19, 2009, 02:49:35 PM
Unlike the basic 3-piece bridge, the Tsing Ma has several pieces that seems to fit multiple places. It takes a little decyphering to figure out what all points where, but pillar pieces are not limited to just the tower area. I deleted the obstruction property from every exemplar in the file and it works fine. The only downside is that you can drive through the tower sections.

The bridge permits boat traffic to pass. Should I send this to Jeronij for upload or should I attempt to make the tower pieces obstructions? I'm tempted to send it now, as is, but it depends on how realistic people want to get with UDI.
-Matt

It doesnt bother me with UDI, most people tend to avoid the towers and prolly wouldnt even notice.

Hey to all those having trouble seeing this bridge in the menu, i have discovered two issues, if you have either the millau viaduct or a steel rail viaduct by fukuda then this bridge and the asahi kaikyo bridges wont show, hope this helps those who like me were wondering how to get this bridge into the game
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge
Post by: choco on April 16, 2009, 05:07:08 AM
the bridges by fukuda that are uploaded to the STEX contain an old version of the bridge .ini file that was later used in the NAM.  those bridges are not NAM compatible.

some time later, the .ini files were removed from fukuda's bridges and centralized into the NAM Bridge Controller.  Then the modified bridges were uploaded to the LEX.

I would suggest that you remove the Akashi, Milau, steel viaduct, and steel arch bridges by fukuda and download the NAM compatible bridges from the LEX.  Links are below:

http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=858

http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=860
http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=861

hope this helps.  :)
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge

cool thanks choco, i'll try redownloading the millau viaduct and see if it doesn't stop the other bridges from showing.
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge
Post by: threestooges on April 16, 2009, 01:00:46 PM
Thanks for taking care of that Choco. The files don't show anything that would indicate they would override one another, so a new download would likely be the best step. Thanks for providing those links.
Title: Re: Released: Tsing Ma Bridge
Post by: choco on April 17, 2009, 07:34:23 AM
no problem....... :)

for any inquisitive minds, here's the issue with fukuda's early bridges ....

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi141.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fr70%2Fchoco_028%2Fini.png&hash=4eb1e239dff52bf9c7e61d373bdd1143f1ae36d1)

the file index in the pic above (fukuda's Milau Viaduct) shows that the network INI file (TGI 0x00000000 0x8a5971c5 0x8a5993b9) is included in the bridge file itself....same is true for the steel arch and steel viaduct.  Since only one version of this file can be loaded at a time, the last one to load will be used.  The INI file shown above was updated 902205, so any bridges added after that date will not be available in the game.

the code from the INI file which defines all bridge exemplars is below.  As you can see, there are many bridges missing from the exemplar ID's....thus, although technically NAM compatible, the INI files in fukuda's remove much of the functionality of the current bridge controller.  The version of fukudas bridges on the LEX have been modified to remove the INI file, which was then merged into the bridge controller when the RUL's were separated for modularity.
