Title: Having some .dat issues
Post by: markusaurel on December 22, 2009, 02:01:11 PM
Hello all.
My first post.
Awesome archive here at sc4devotion - so much effort - thank you.

I was just having a bit of a problem. I have all these dat files, I was expecting 100 or so new buildings instead I got like 5 new buildings, some very minor park items and a whole bunch of .dat files. I have spent 2 days downloading bad product after bad product to unzip, extract, rip, and I get nothing.

Thank you guys   :)

Firstly welcome to SC4D!!!

concerning those DAT files, it makes sense they don't show up in game as these are prop packs. You need to dowload the corresponding lots from the LEX/STEX. Or alternatively you can make the lots yourself.

Hope this helps

Ya I figured that much. I was hoping I was wrong though, what about the office tower packs, when I downloaded all of those there pictures of 3 to 5 buildings saying that it was all those buildings, not props.

There were more of these prop packs then there were buildings all together, so where do I find all of these buildings.

You should not "trade" buildings made by other people. If these are available you can give people links to where to find them but what you are proposing is not in the spirit of the community.
Most of the lots for the props you have downloaded are in other packs - ks_jpn has a number of lot packs or CAMelots. I would suggest you look more closely at the available downloads in the LEX and find the lot packs that you need.

Sorry about that. I will edit that post ASAP, searching only under lexx has seemed to make a difference. Thanks for the quick responses, you guys are great.
