Title: SimCity will not start!
Post by: dsrwhat316 on December 23, 2009, 02:05:05 PM
I've been playing SC4 regularly, and when I tried to launch it today, I get this message:

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application."

I've uninstalled and re-installed SC4, but the problem still persists. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Any help would greatly be appreciated!

32 or 64 bit? I have 32 bit home premium 7 and mine works like a charm. Have you tried reinstalling the game? and the usual stuff like compatibility mode and disabling aero?

32 bit. I've been running SC4 on Windows 7 for over a month without a problem until this very morning. I've uninstalled the game and just re-installed it and the problem is still coming up. I switched it to windows xp mode and disabled all the frills and it has not helped.

after some quick googling I found a thread over at ST (here (http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=22&threadid=104904))about something similar. Bottom line is that they think that it's a plugin conflict.
I'm going to bed now, so I hope your problem gets solved soon

If you have Deluxe Edition, have you tried doing autostart by inserting Disc 1 then when the menu shows up insert disc2??? I have Windows Vista and the autostart works. Or it might be your version of Windows and the system desktop link.
