Title: Importing models from Blender
Post by: puresim on December 26, 2009, 10:18:46 AM
Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I've been exporting 3DS and DXF models from blender today and trying to texture them in Gmax before exporting for SC4. Both these formats open the model in the 3D view screen, but when I try to texture it the model turns bright white. Here is what the model looks like after applying a texture:

The box beside my 'hill' was created in Gmax just to prove that I know how to apply textures to models.

I've never used Gmax before but hoping to learn it over the next few days :)

Have you had any luck applying textures in Gmax the other way, by going to the hammer icon (utilities), and then pressing asset browser, then clicking and dragging the texture onto the model? If so, from there you should be able to hit the modify icon that is up top, it will be a curve shape, left to the hammer icon tab, making sure your shape is selected, you then can use the drop down menu under the modifier list, and select UVW map for that object. This has been my alternate way to texture things, hope it works for you.

Unfortunately that still doesn't work on my imported model, but it does work on an object created in Gmax. Thanks anyway j-dub!

Edit: Worked out it was the way I was exporting the model from Blender. Fixed.
