Hi all,
I have a couple of gmax questions.
1. I have created a box and applied a bend modifier to it at 195 degrees. What do I have to do to make the shape actually keep the bend (this picture is not in wireframe mode and when I deselect the box the bend disappears and I'm left with a thin sliver of my former box ()what()) I've encountered similar problems with other modifiers, what am I missing?
2. My coloured axis pointers have disappeared for when I want to move objects, how do I get them back?
thanks
Does your box have enough segments (vertices) along where you want it to bend? It could be caused by having only 1 segment each for Height, Width and Depth, meaning there's nothing to bend.
You need more segments on the box. The modifier uses the verticies on the box, so by adding more you'll get a better curve. The shape you see there is the frame of the bend command itself.
thanks guys
that's what I call speedy service. I've tested it and yeah, that's what it was.
Still trying to get my pointers back...
- Another thing that annoys me is constantly moving the mouse to the lower right of screen to access the hand icon, in order to move the view that I'm working in a little. Is it possible to customize the interface somehow so that my right click (for eg.) could be the hand tool?
Pointers?
you know, the coloured pointers that keep you tied to one axis when moving stuff around, they've gone...
Ahhh, thats a single letter fix.... I think X but I'm not sure. Not at home at the moment so can't check for you.
I don't think it's X, but you can go under the "Views" menu and make sure that "Show Transform Gizmo" is checked.

It looks like you're both right, thanks again for the prompt service.
Joelyboy had already told me it was x, and I tried it but nothing. But I've now checked "show transform gizmo" and my pointers are back, hooray, but also when I press x my pointers now go away and come back again. Did it need to be checked in the menu for the x button trick to work? Was it a glitch? I don't really too much care anyway, it's all working again. ;D
