Glad you decided to continue. That's a nice start VeTram :)

Antoni,

Don;t forget to take a look at the Japanese Bat forum. There are some very nice small boats that will be useful, I guess.

take a look at reply 184.

hi antoni, welcome back!

it looks like youve been busy making some more boats ploppable. youve made a good start with your marina and i look forward to seeing more.

as for myself, ive moved away from the LE for now. i was spending too much time with it and not enough time playing the game. also, with my
move, which you noticed, i have been a bit busy so i havent had much time to even play the game.

i will keep an eye out here, and again, welcome back and happy new year!

-Here i am back again , but before continue , a few words for friends that replied...

puresim ...Thanks a lot , for your participation friend  :)

FrankU.....Thanks a lot also , for your suggestion . I already checked the Japanese site , and surely there are some boats for future use. Among those ships , there is one that i specially like to use now , but unfortunately the model doesn't stand alone...you will understand what i mean in the near future. Whenever i will find anything interesting , i will just save it and keep it for use in time. I suppose this is one of the most common golden rule for every Lotterer.... :)

and finallly...Jeff my good friend i am very happy to find you again.. :) :)....I wish you all the best at whatever you are doing there away from your home  , and i hope to see you often.. Your opinion and advices are so much valuable to me. Thanks for all..

and now back to project for the continuation....

-It is true that after such a long period of absence , not only from the community and L.E but from the game itself  , i have forgotten some things , that i ought to read again ....that costs some time...anyway......i am sure that i will have some help whenever i need so..... :)

-As always i dont want to get you tired , by writting many words , so i will always try to be as briefly as i can ...i stop here and open a next reply to continue ....[/color]

-I really dont know why , but i had to continue in a new reply , because the cursor didnt obey when writting ( it just went into the next line...) I dont know if i have clicked anything that i oughtn't , so i continue here ,and i hope not to face the same problem.. &mmm   sorry

-Well , the whole project is a very ambitious plan to create a really BIG seaport , with every single kind of different port areas ( just take a look at the beginning of this thread ) , and for now the current project is a Marina which is just in the nort and east end of the whole region.
... In my previous , i posted some pics just to take a first taste , and as i wrote it is Under Construction  and whenever i feel i have nothing to add for the moment i will post it here , and if i find anything interesting to add , coming from experience  , advices perhaps and so on  , i will return and add it.
....So , for the present i think i am ready to post some pics from a part of Marina , which i think its ready enough to stay as it is ( for the present time)  ....i can say that i am 80% satisfied from the result , and of course your opinons and advices will always help me a lot...so dont hesitate to express anything you want to comment completely freely...OK?.. :)

-Finally you can see the progress , by clicking into the previous page (no 3) ....so in the following pic no1 , you can see the end of a long pier which is mostly for sailing boats ( i hope the translation of boats in english is the right one ) , and other smaller boats.. just no other type of boat

....sorry but the problem with the cursor returned , at the moment i filled up the area of typing ...i suppose to open a new reply in order to continue...hope it will be the last... &mmm

-I will continue posting , but in case i face the same problem ( which i am afraid i will... :()  i will stop and ask if i can do anything from moderator..

pic No2...the continuation of that long pier with the sailing boats...

pic No3....the end of the long pier , just notice that i tried to make the pier functional , by entering a lot between the next custom lot ( you can easily see it , because the texture of the street is different ( i will return to that in the end of the post where i will post some questions )

pic No4... the same from the opposite view..and a little higher of course

pic No5 and the known problem continues...but i will insist this time and try to post all pics...  %wrd....here you can see the connection of the long pier with the central body of the marina and the end of the marina that comes with the Lighthouse...

pic No6...the same as above , but from a different opposite view and higher..

pic No7.... Marina ( a part of it ) at night ...

and finally pic No8...a general view of the pier in a higher zoom.. :)

:-[ :-[ :-[... at least i manage to complete all pics...

...many sorry for your suffering .. :(... i hope that i recompense you with my pics which i hope you liked....

-Now that i finished with pics , i think i can continue and finish my update , with some questions and general conclusions...

Question No1....in the texture i mentioned in pic No3 , i used sap23's sidewalk texture to fit it better with the sidewalk of my overlay texture in my custom lot , but as you see it isnt the same...well the question is , can i make it look the same?

Question No2......as mentioned , i have made my lot transit enabled , with SC4Tool of course , but i would also like to make it functional just for giving me some jobs.....i looked for a marina building , but found only park building  except Maxis and Peg's Marina which is a Reward Lot ...well , the question is can i use a RW building for a Marina (the problem here is that i have to enter a model building , which it doesn't fit into my lot)  or it is better to avoid it and just use a park building?

Question No3.........what's happening with car's movement in the street , which in my case is the overlay texture?....i have used traffic generator , but cars just enter and after 2 or 3 tiles they disappear.. &mmm..... will it be the same at the time that the street has a normal movement itself from game?.....i want movement in the street of marina definitely , because this is the mainly reason that i wanted to transit enabled my lot. .it will add plenty of life IMO .  The other reason was that i wanted some jobs...

Question No4....something very very important.....where can i find fishermen that fish from the deck?...i need them desperately , and i know that they exist when i used them once in the past making a lighthouse...

Question No5.....i know very few things about people in lots ,such as  aper , amill , and so on....i even do not undestand what they mean when translating in my language...where can i find any help to that?

and finally a conclusion...i know that the same as street the sea also looks empty , and this is something i will definetely take care very soon , as i know the way from previous thread at the past..i just need to read again in order to remember.. Thanks so much all for your patience...take care :)

Hi Antoni,

Sometimes I suffer form the same problem while typing replies. But by just typing on I can work through the whole text I want to write. It is just a bit unpractical.

Traffic: I fear that there will not be movement of traffic if there are no jobs to drive to. So I guess you need to find some kind of jobs on the end of your piers in order to get traffic. And maybe it only works if you draw ingame streets (so no TE'd lots) but there are people around that can tell you exactly how it works. This is only a guess.

And some comment: the street texture, and especially the sidewalk texture, is a bit too clean next to the dirtier texture of the pier. Maybe you could find a different combination? The bicycles and cars are sometimes a bit too bright, but I don't know if there are other props available.
In the large view I like the development a lot. Maybe you could make some smaller wooden planks that go futher into the water in order to make place for ships. PEG's marina props are perfect for that, I think.

Thanks a lot FrankU for your reply.. :)......as i see i am not the only one facing this problem with typing.. as for Traffic suggestions , i really wanted some traffic in the pier , and i think you have right that i must have some kind of jobs in the end of the pier.
The problem is that all marina's buildings that i have found are either rewards or have building that do not suit with the pier. On the other hand, i didnt had any reply in my Quest. No1 for the sidewalk texture , so i temporarily ( and maybe permanently) i decided the lot not to be functional (transit enabled) , and just add some traffic only for eye-candy..(by the way, it will be nice to use time-props vehicles , if you tell me where to find them..)    but since i will face the same problem in future custom lots , i am still waiting for a solution , to my Quest. No2 at my previous post.
As for the comments , i hope that more friends will express their thoughts and opinion , like FrankU did , as this surely the best way to become better and better..You dont have to be an L.E expert to express yourself .. Please , feel free always and express yourself.. I can see there are many , many views , without replies..
FrankU ,  you have right about the sidewalk texture , i choose it because it is dark enough to suit with the dirty texture of pier. But i agree with you , it is too clean , but for the moment i will leave it since i cannot find a more suitable one. If  i will find a more suitable texture in the future ( or if anyone have any other texture to propose )  i will use it , since it is very easy to change so.
The same force , for the bicycles and cars ....
As for you last comment , ( about wooden planks)  this kind of marina is very very rarely in my country ( i dont know why ) so it is out of my imagination to dare something like that...I think that when you will see the marina finished , you will agree with me , that the result is very realistic and  truly enough.  Most of my props , are Peg's ones i must say that..

Hi to all friends.. :)

-Unfortunately , i dont see any reply to my above questions , but as i wanted to continue with my project i decided to change some of my plans , and you will understand what i mean in the continuation..

-At first , as you can see in my above post , i have already strikethrough with red line my plan not to make the lot functional and just add some traffic for eye-candy. I thought it will be much more alive and interesting for the game itself , if all of the custom lots that i hope to create will be quite functional network enabled for realistic traffic and transit enabled for jobs , whenever there are jobs in buildings..

-So , i started reading some things around ( tutorials etc ) in order to remember some important subjects about the above subject. I can say that with my poor knowledge i have managed to make my lot functional , which means that now i have some jobs ( using SC4Tool - Exemplar Editor and iReader )  and a few traffic since my city is pretty new yet..  Of course there are some subjects unanswered to my mind which i believe i will understand in the near future ( with your help always )  , but for the moment i am satisfied enough in order to continue my project.. :)

-Very , very soon i will update (hope so ) . For the moment i would be grateful to anyone that can help me to understand better some of the properties of a building exemplar , like Demand Satisfied , Demand Created, Capacity Satisfied , or any other property that has to do with jobs.  What does exactly each one means and what are their differences?

Thanx , and take care all

Here's a good explanation of those properties: http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=6089.0

Also have a good read of this tutorial: http://www.simtropolis.com/omnibus/index.cfm/Main.SimCity_4.Custom_Content.Making_a_Functional_Landmark_Lot

Are you using the SC4PIM? Have a read through the user guide to see what it does: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2257

Hope this helps :)

jmdude1

hi antoni,
it looks like youve been busy with your marina! its looking good. unforunately i cant really answer many of your questions as i have not used the lot editor much these days and i have forgotten some things.
1 thing i might know is the answer to question 5. i believe aper and amill are just random names given to these props. i think aper = a person, and amill = mill around (to stand around). those are just my ideas though, but they do fit the prop types.
also, for question 4, if you still have your lighthouse lot with the fishermen on it, you can just load it into the LE and find the fisherman prop name. im sure you already knew this but sometimes we forget. haha. i will keep my eyes open for them if i happen to come across them somewhere.

i wish i could offer more help but i think i also need to refresh myself with the functions of the sc4 tools. as puresim mentioned, try looking at the SC4PIM, ive heard its a very useful and important tool.

jeff

ps. as for myself i am living and working in korea again. thanks for your kind thoughts.  :)

VeTram

Hi to all friends ... :)

-I am  :)  that i am finally ready to update my project...but before continue let me reply to some friends....

Puresim , Thanks a lot friend for your participation and help......also please feel free and write your opinion or any other thought , in case you feel so.. Thanks again

Jeff my friend , what can i say? ..you always find the time to follow me , even i suppose you are busy over there... Many , many Thanks friend  , for everything ( i was really surprised that you remember the old lighthouse with the fishermen!)
I have found the lot , but in fact there are no fishermen , they are just a prop from a Peg's lot named "fishermenpoles" , which are three poles next to each other and you just add a standing man infront of them...In fact , i have added even and ...sitting people infront of them.... ;)....( you will find out in the coming pics)... Thanks again , and in case you want you can send me a p.m writting more details about your stay there...Thanks..

-So , lets continue with this update by posting some pics along with some comments of mine of each one of them , as usual.
I would like to comment here , that the biggest problem that i have faced since now , is the connection of transit enabled lots , as i always want to make all custom lots alive similar to the game. And to my poor modding knowledge , that means i want alive streets , and roads etc and jobs of course. I know that there is a limit by putting two T.E lots next to each other , so i thought the idea of my previous post ( the one with the pics)...Please let me continue with a new post next ,because of the known problem with typing... :-[
For every friend of this community , do NOT forget to send me a p.m if ever visit Greece .

VeTram

sorry , but the known problem with typing insist and it is very annoying to me.. &mmm ...so dont be surprised if i open new post again..

So, the problem was and still remains with T.E'd Lots..I had thought of the idea like you can see in my previous post ( the one with the pics ) , but i didnt like the difference of sidewalk texture and the difference mostly of the street texture...I could change the sidewalk texture to look like the Marina's texture , but i couldn't find a way to change the texture of the street also....
Since i had no reply from any expert of the community , i changed my mind many , many times and finally decided to leave it with NO T.E lots ( except the main body of the Marina , as you will see ). I ask for help from the experts once again... :-[ ( it there is any solution , of course) ...I post the following pic in the item where the T.E Lots connect to eachother , in order to understand better what i mean..

O.K , let's continue now .. As you will see some pics are from the same point i left previous time. It isn't a mistake , but just an update of the lot. As i have written whenever i want to correct something or find anything newer and better ( whatever it is , like texture or prop etc) i will update the lot and post it here.. So , as you see in the following pics , i show pics of the Long Pier area ( which i have already posted before ) but i have updated the lot , and so there are newer pics.. :-[

next post now for known reason ... ;D

Here is the Long Pier area , which is a part of the whole Marina to its.. final version....( at least till i find something more interesting to change or add)... ;D

of course this is the front part of the Long Pier at night , from a different view...

main body of the Long Pier , where as you can see i have added some car props just for eye-candy to get some traffic....

the same from a different view at the same zoom...

same as above...

the end of the pier , where you can see the connection of the lots and where you can also see (at last) some fishermen...

always at the same zoom from a different view...

almost the whole Long Pier from a little higher....

from the same zoom and view almost the whole Long Pier with the T Connection

and finally the same at night....Do you think i am posting too many pics of the same subject? Please let me know..

I really dont want to get you tired , so i suggest to stop here and take a break .. but i will return with the continuation early this afternoon..Hope you enjoy since now , and of course feel free always for any comment... :)

Let's continue and update a little more .... :)

At the pics that i posted in the morning , i showed the Long Pier of the Marina and we have stopped at the area that connects with the main pier..O.K so , we will continue from this point..

Here is a view of the end of the main pier with the Lighthouse at the end ...

same from another view..

let's move along the Main Pier .. we can see there is a place for fishing-boats with fishing-stands where you can find some fresh fish....

a little further there is the entrance of a second medium pier where we can see a warehouse ...

at the end of the medium pier there are no boats , so there is plenty of room for some fishermen...

further, there is another smaller this time pier with also a warehouse at the entrance...

we can see the two piers from a higher view...

the small pier with smaller boats...

shall we move on?... :)...to the next post... "$Deal"$

another warehouse for bigger boats...

nice boats next to each other, and a small pavilion near...

I have almost finished....just a very few pics more ....into my next last post and perhaps not tonight ,as it's already late here and i feel a little tired of this long update....  :-[....of course you can comment at any time you want...i would appreciate that......many Thanks for your patience..
