With the abilitiy of programs like SC4PIM & SSPTool to display thumbnails of each lot, along with it's name etc: I wondered if there was any way to export this info into a form from which a html or pdf reference could be made for one's plugin collection. This, for me at least, would be massively handy.

Shameless bump to try and get a yes or no on this one. It really would be a great way to get an overview of your plugin folder.

BarbyW

wouanagaine did produce a program that could do what you want but it was a massive resource hog and so has never been released publicly. Maybe when RL releases him a bit he could look at it again but I wouldn't hold your breath.

but maybe one day...

Maybe... ::)

I've reactivated the link in the first post of SC4LotInfosGenerator.
Please be aware of the fact that it's not a final program... it's still just a beta version of it.

thingfishs

thankyou yet again  , I look forward to seeing how it goes.  ;D

Well it's better than I would've hoped, nice layout, all relevant info. I tested it with a folder of SG's stuff (basically his entire LEX collection) and though all the information was there, only a small number (maybe 5-10%) actually had photos. Is there anything I can do to remedy this?

I missing image would normally indicate that the model is missing from your plugins...

Diggis

It likely reads the PNG file that is saved in the file.  These often get taken out by DAT packer or people when they create DATs so that could be the problem.

I'm pretty sure SC4LIG works the same way as another more recent tool by wouanagaine. ::)
It creates its own images (of just the bat, not the lot) in a subfolder called "images".

Those images are created only once, and saved with their TGI addresses.
They should be based on the actual model files that are used on the lots.

So you're saying the LOT info Generator doesn't generate info about the lot?  ()what()

Edit:  This image from Wou's first post would indicate you are lying :

Andreas

SC4LIG reads the PNG that is created by the Lot Editor, so you won't get a pic in the output if the LE preview has been deleted. Maybe wouanagaine could add the capability of extracting a building pic (in case the LE preview is missing) if SC4LIG ever gets updated or re-done.

Seems like the version I had installed was an earlier beta one... 0.0.9... &blush
The images I got were of just the buildings, not the lots...

Shhh, don't tell anybody.. $%Grinno$%

EDIT:
Ok, just had a brief chat with wouanagaine, who also proved me wrong... ::)

wouanagaine says (15:04):
you're wrong :)
the tool extract the png that LE makes
And I save them for the html to be able to display them
so if someone is missing a pic in the html, it means that the image was not in the plugin
Tage säger (15:06):
right.. e.g. made by PIM-X or datpacked
wouanagaine säger (15:07):
yes

well I've tried a bunch of other stuff and so far pretty much everything has been working, for me this program is great. Sometimes images aren't there but usually there's a blank space (ie. nothing) whereas with the SG stuff there is a broken link icon where the image might be. I'm fairly certain it's to do with his datpacking of most of his stuff, shame. Still, it's a great and valuable resource that it produces. There's a lot of variables to get your head around in SC4, and different people absorb information in differing ways. To have all the info, along with the photo and name, plus the symbol denoting it's menu location, does help me get my head around what I've got, what's missing, what's not showing up etc. Thanks again

EDIT: it hasn't taken long to see that that these assertions weren't quite accurate. I had a good run, but it is hit & miss (as far as the photos go). One thing I wanted to be able to do was get a list of all the maxis buildings with photos, but alas, broken link icons as well. Well then, I still greatly appreciate the program (the numbers are the most important part, but the images do help) but am also keen to see the hinted at next generation version. Also I would happily be the recipient of a maxis list produced by said means, if at all possible.... ;)
