Hiding the grid

Hey I'm working on a new city, what do I do to turn off the grid that shows up when you scroll over the land?

Just hit the "G" key . . . that toggles the grid on/off.  Hope that helps!

although if you have a tool active that plops something a small grid will show up under your mouse pointer, to get it to go away just deselect whatever tool you may be using (road, zoning, park, whatever)
