Tomas Neto: Thank you!  Hope you enjoy today's update!

I finally finished Arnett.  Now it's time to work on Mariston.  Does anyone know where to find old fashioned ploppable boats?  I need them for my harbours and boat scenes.  I've seen them in people's journals but have never found them.  Anyway, Here's today's update.  It's a little shorter than usual, but that's because I'm doing this thing where I break my enormous updates into smaller pieces.  It makes things easier!... I hope you all enjoy this update.

The Next morning, The ship approached the mouth of Dexter Bay.  Dexter bay is the Large bay that the city of Arnett is located in.  As Morganfield walked on Deck, the cold November air was refreshing but also burned his nostrils with it's cold.  It wouldn't be long before snow started falling  . . .

As they Approached Arnett Morganfield noticed the tall mountains and steep shorelines of the surrounding area.  Arnett is built around a large harbor where the Blue larch River meets Dexter bay.  The city was originally founded by a group of traders who got lost on their way to wales from mariston and shipwrecked nearby.  when they found the bay they set up shelters to try and survive the brutal winter.  When spring came they set about building a new boat, but other traders discovered them first and decided it was a good place for rest on the Auen to Wales trade route.  The settlement remained small until the huge mineral deposits were discovered in the surrounding mountains. Several mines were built, Mills, foundries, and blast furnaces followed.  Arnett, found itself with a population of 60 thousand and joined the the ranks of Inakaye's lesser cities.

The ship approached Approached Arnett Harbr at about noon that day.  Morganfield disembarked and found himself in the central factory district where much of the population worked during the day.  He asked a man for directions to his hotel for the night, and the man told him, "oh that's on the point.  You take the coach that runs here to Canty Ave. and Maple Street, and it'll be there Down maple street."

The Point

Morganfield's hotel is pictured in the center of above image

And So, Morganfield went to his hotel and checked in.  He decided to look around "The Point"  This thin strip of land was where fishermen lived originally, and later became the wealthier neighborhood in Arnett.  It was separated from the grime of the factories and offered beautiful views of the Harbor and Dexter Bay.  While, Morganfield had been to Solace Bay before, this city was even larger, and he found himself slightly in awe.  He could see buildings and industry surrounding the entire harbor.  He walked around for several hours, looking in stores and walking through parks.

Shorefront Park is a great place to sit and watch the busy Arnett Harbor

As the sun set over the harbor, Mckinley decided to go look for a place to eat.  He had walked all the way down the Point and arrived in a less affluent neighborhood, with taller buildings and lots of people out on the street.

He heard music coming from a nearby building and decided to check it out.  It was a bar, that had low lighting and a smoky atmosphere, but the music was mesmerising.  it was a band with accordion, guitar and three horns playing some of the saddest and most beautiful music he had ever heard.  it had a beat that strongly surged beneath the soaring melodies, and many couples were dancing wild dances with each other.  it was like nothing Morganfield had ever seen before.  He found a seat at one end of the bar and ordered a sandwich and a beer.

"what is this music?" he asked the bartender.

"it's the Moresly Five.  you've never heard of them?" said the bartender.

"I'm not from around here"

"Oh, well these guys are the best Zandra band in all of Arnett.  have you heard Zandra music before?"

"No, it's spectacular."

The Bartender smiled knowingly, "yes it is, comes originally from the Alexandra river valley, Mariston, and that region.  Short for alexZANDRA.  it's working it's way through the other cities in the country.  simply the best dance music there is.  Where you from that you haven't heard it before?"

"I'm from the frontier, near Solace Bay if you heard of that."

"Hmm that place has a bad reputation around here, and that's saying something.  They used to send recruiters round here, wasn't long before people caught on, and now mayor Estes, has them thrown out when they do come here."

They continued a conversation for a little while and when Morganfield told the bartender he was going to mariston, the bartender told him he would have to check out the Blue llama on Rolfe street in Arroyo point to hear the best Zandra music in the world.

As the Moresly five blazed through two more sets of the intriguing music, Morganfield just sat and listened.  He had never really cared much for music.  Lake Maureen, had only a couple bars.  and most of the music was simple Folk music.  Ballads, love songs, etc.  In fact there was really no place in the town to go dancing. When Morganfield walked back to his hotel late that night, he considered hiring a Zandra band to come to lake Maureen.  He knew just which Store owner to talk to.

Morganifeld fell asleep in a really good mood and was excited to get to Mariston tomorrow . . .

Stray Cat

Hey eldaldo.  Very nice MD you have going.  I suspect it won't be long before you are on the best-sellers list.  I know I'll be following it. Well done.

Cheers!
