I've installed SC4 onto my new PC which is running Win 7 64-bit. I've also moved all of my custom content and a lot of the tools over from my old Win XP system. The game runs fine (very fast!) but DAMN is not working.  &mmm

I can click on the "additional BSC menu's" link at the bottom of the notices display. But the DAMN dialog I get only contains a few icons (home, back, and another I can't recall off the top of my head). There should be links to each of the directories under the DAMN\Root menu (of which there are the standard set).

What I've done to check:

  • I've re-installed the DAMN,
  • I've rerun the DAMN-indexer.cmd, both as me and as administrator
  • I've checked the DAMN-index.txt and it contains the tree structure as expected
  • I've checked the permissions on every folder from Maxis down, and they all have full permissions for all users

It's got me confused. Any ideas?

I had this issue as well, but it was a problem with permissions.  The Users group needs to have Full Control for the C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Plugins folder and its subfolders.  It should not be there by default.

Also, once you see the Home/Back menu, there should be a small arrow to expand the submenu.  Sometimes, it is there but hidden.  I'm embarrassed to say this had me perplexed once.   $%Grinno$%

Something strange I've noticed related to the Steam Overlay...
For some reason, it seems to inexplicably break both the DAMN and the BSC Regional Tracking mod.

You didn't buy it on Steam did you?

I found this by accidentally using my non-steam shortcut once and noticing all these mods I forgot about suddenly started working.

Nope, came pre-installed with my new Dell machine.

I had this problem once and it had something to do with the version I had downloaded.  Can you put up the link of the DAMN that you used?

Quick fix for Steam SC4 users...

Just turn off the Steam Community. It disables Steam Overlay entirely.

Go to Properties  > get rid of check at 'Enable Steam Community In-Game.'

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents. :P

Loving your work deadwoods.
