Rounding up Corners

I use gmax, and I made a simple box that I would like to round up or off the corners. How do I go about this?

I want to make some strawbales and with those pointy and perfect corners they look darn stupid and totally unrealistic. Bales aren't that symetrical and sharpedged at all. Thanks for the help.

I create a box with more than 1 Lenght/Width/Height segments (maybe 6 or 8), then convert to editable mesh and move the vertices a bit to round the cornerts and make it look a bit irregular.

I'm not sure if my method is the best. Maybe someone knows a easier way.

Hey Fred-

Chamfer is a good way to smooth out corners or edges. Example: A 5x5x5 box. Covert it to an editable poly. You can select 1, 2, or all the edges. I'll select all.



Results after the 1st chamfer at .5



Here's the result after a second chamfer at .25

nbvc I do that also, all the time, but with these little fellows (the bales) it will create a lot of polycounts when using 50 or so bales for a prop and that I would like to avoid. Thanks for the mention. ;)

Jim, that's it, that is what I forgot how to do, chamfer is the thing that will do the trick. Thanks. ;)

Now I can continue make these haybales........
