So I'm still new to NAM, but I can't seem to find the puzzle pieces to build entrances and exits on to a freeway from a one-way frontage road.

This link shows a real world example (Beardsley Road in North Phoenix) of what I'm trying to build.

I'm either missing something or it's impossible.

I'm not completely sure what you mean but you can easily make transitions between one-way roads and MIS or RHW4. :)

What he's saying is to wrap a highway in 2 oneway roads parallel to it and build access roads to and from the highway via those oneway roads, with sort of a split so the OWR goes on while a lane or 2 build the MIS down to the RHW.

I hope you get the idea...
If not switch his linked location in northern GLENDALE ( :P ) to mapview to follow up on driving directions... it ends up something like this:

<-<-<-<-<- OWR
    /       \      on/offramp
<<<<<<<< RHW
>>>>>>>> RHW
    \       /      on/offramp
->->->->-> OWR

either way, you can create it in SC4, almost 100% accurate  with the latest NAM, usiang a OWR4- dual OWR2 split and then turning the OWR2 into part of a RHW4 or an MIS while continuing the other OWR2 parallel to the highway... only problem might be the fractual angles of the on/offramps in the Valley combined with the lower levels of the highways, but that only accounts for 100% recreational ideas. for the sole purpose of creating an intersection with this layout, you'll get what you want

EDIT:
here's a really really quick take (>5 minutes) at the setup at Beardsley, N59th and Agua Fria Hwy shown in the link:

I only focused on one half of it and ignored unecessary stuff like the overpass and terrain elevation, I only wanted to show that it is easily possible to recreate the setup concerned.
In this particular try, I took an RHW8S, applied a F1 type FAR ramp, continued the FAR MIS to a FAR RHW4, turned it orthogonal again and let it change to OWR2, which runs into an OWR4, joining with what's supposed to be the parallel-to-highway-part of Beardsley... and the opposite order at the other end... with an RHW6 in between the ramps... just like in real life.
Now this is just one of many possible ways to approach this layout and I sure enough gave a cold coffee about size (although I ended up at almost the same size it has in real life, it's just a few tiles bigger than in real life) but tried to keep the fractual angles to it, the more compact you go, the more challenging it gets of course.
just experiment to find your way to solve it...

... really, it is. I swear.

Using the Maxis highways, there are ramps that connect to one-way roads that should allow you to do what you want.  They're on a tab ring, so you may have to tab through various ramps until you find the ones you want.

Thank you Z and GMT for your solutions

Where did you get OWR4 to 2x OWR2 splitter?

with the latest NAM it's a dragable transition, make sure the dual OWR2 runs on adjecent tiles when connecting to OWR4, like in my picture

Sweet frontage road setup GMT!  &apls  I kind of forgot about those (not too many in northern Finland) but those could be very useful in the game!

Ohhh well the pieces can be found in the FARHW in the highways menu. I used a RHW-6C as an express thru-way and the RHW-4 as the collector lanes/frontage road.

Here a closer picture for detail

I also used the cosmetic menu for the HOV lanes in the closer 2 lanes

Very interesting Houstonkid.  Looks just like the highway I am use....very compact.  I my be using this idea in my city.
A K-point for you.
