Dorado is a large, diverse state with a warm mediterranean climate.  It is home to a wide array of cities and towns dotted across the landscape.  The Governor of Dorado is Gerald White, a native of Seafare, Dorado, a suburban city in San Martino County.  Before the pictures, here are a few facts and figures about the State of Dorado.

The Capital of Dorado is Dorado City

The Five Largest Cities in Dorado are:
1. San Martino
2. Dorado City
3. Porter
4. Frontera Vista
5. San Vincente

The Highest Point is Mt. Tupelo in the Fronteras Range
The Lowest Point is Sea Level

Dorado is Divided into 11 Counties (The County Seat is in Parenthesis)
San Martino County - (San Martino)
Mayfair County - (Gibson)
Hillsdale County - (Porter)
El Monte County - (San Vincente)
Paris County - (Verdura)
Dos Palos County - (Hayden)
Orlando County - (Johnsonville)
Telton County - (Frontera Vista)
Norte County - (Dorado City)
Los Osos County - (Los Osos Lake)
La Playa County - (Hull)

Dorado is also loosely divided into regions
Greater San Martino Area - A large urban area on the central coast of Dorado.  The area is officially known as the San Martino-Porter-San Vincente MSA.  It is a 3 county urban area that forms the economic, cultural, and entertainment capital of the state.  The region is anchored by its two major cities San Martino and Porter.

Capital Valley - The Capital Valley is the name of the northern part of the Central Valley of Dorado the area is home to Dorado City, the capital of Dorado and the center of a larger urban area.  The region is based on agriculture as well as government services.

Central Valley -  The Central Valley is a large expansive valley in the center of Dorado.  It is bordered by the Fronteras Range to the west, the Coastal Range to the East and the Capitola Mountains to the north.  While the valley is primarily agricultural, there are many mid sizes urban centers that dot the valley such as Frontera Vista, Orangside, Allendale, and Verdura.  The counties comprising the central valley from south to north are Dos Palos County, Paris County, Telton County, El Monte County, and Norte County.

Gibson Valley - A small valley in the southeastern part of Dorado.  While the valley is primarily agricultural, its proximity to the San Martino area has resulted in the rapid suburbanization cities such as Gibson and Mountainside.  The whole of the Gibson Valley is within Mayfair County.

Orlando County - A large coastal county in the northeastern part of the state.  It is a mostly rural county and is heavily forested in its northern parts.  The largest city in the area is Bellevue.  The county has a large military presence as it is home to the Mar Vista Air Force Base.

La Playa County - A small coastal county in the far southern section of Dorado.  La Playa is home to the best beaches in the state.  Every summer residents from all over flock to the county to take advantage of the weather and beaches.

I will be bringing you Dorado through the lives of its residents the first of which is Mark Infante who has just been released from Boynton State Correctional Facility in Boynton, Dorado, a city in western Paris County.

After 8 years Mark Infante, a resident of San Martino, Dorado, has been released from prison for the armed robbery of a convenience store.  He is looking to get his life back on track and will begin doing so by taking a 3 hour greyhound bus ride back to his hometown.

After 8 years Mark has been released.  He caught a cab ride from the prison to the city of Boynton where he boarded a greyhound bus bound for San Martino.

The bus travelled along Dorado State Route 16 and passed over Interstate 9 near the small farming town of Carlsburgh.  Interstate 9 is a major north-south freeway that spans the entirety of the state.  It connects major central valley cities with one another.

The bus made its first stop in the mid size Central Valley city of Verdura.  Verdura is an agricultural city of 50,000 residents in eastern Paris County.  It is located 50 miles west of San Martino and 145 miles south of Dorado City.

The greyhound continued to pass small depressed farming communities in the Central Valley as it grew closer to the sprawling metropolis of San Martino.

The bus entered the northern end of the Gibson Valley and turned onto Interstate 21, a major freeway in the San Martino area.

As the bus grew closer to the San Martino area, Mark could see the developments popping up in the once rural city of Newmont.  He knew that these homes were not here 8 years ago.

They had finally reached the southern suburbs of the sprawling area as the palm trees and endless rows of homes came into view from the freeway.

The bus turned onto Interstate 321 and headed into the city of San Martino.  Mark could see his neighborhood of West Central from the elevated freeway.

Through the smog mark could make out the skyline of San Martino.  The bus pulled into the terminal and Mark stepped out to hear the sound of the city once more.

After a few weeks Mark has settled in.  He found an apartment in the West Central neighborhood of San Martino, a working class neighborhood just outside of the downtown area.

He also found a job working as a convenience store clerk at a the local Shell on the corner of Lincoln Ave. and Richmond Blvd.

An overview of West Central.  West Central is a working class, primarily Mexican American neighborhood.  It does suffer from some crime, but not as much as the southern neighborhoods of San Martino.

Mark decided to take in a San Martino Miners game.  The Miners are the local professional basketball team.  They play in the Toyota Center, a large multi purpose arena in Downtown.

An overview of the southern suburbs of the San Martino area.  The South Basin, as it has come to be known, is home to the cities of Hollydale, Caballo City, Exploration Beach, Torto Beach, Seafare, Oro Canyon, Santa Paulina, Del Carmen, Los Pinos, Dewey, Candlewood, Newmont, and Newmont Heights.

The northern edge of San Martino County is composed primarily of the city of San Martino itself.  Caballo City is to the west of San Martino nestled in the San Jose Hills.  Willow Park, a small crime ridden suburb, is completely surrounded by San Martino.

To the north of San Martino is the city of San Vincente, the county seat of El Monte County.  San Vincente, at a population of 105,000 is the third largest city in the San Martino area and is the fastest growing suburb.

Northeast of San Martino is Hillsdale County.  Hillsdale County is the second largest county by population in Dorado.  Porter and its suburbs anchor the northern part of the Greater San Martino area.

The northern part of Hillsdale County was once rural.  However with the growth of the area, small farming cities like San Manuel are now rapidly growing into large suburban cities.
