The SC4 Devotion Forums are no longer active, but remain online in an archived, read-only "museum" state.  It is not possible for regular members to post or use the private messaging system, and no technical support will be provided for any issues pertaining to the forums in their current state.  Attachments (those that still work) are accessible without login.

The LEX has been replaced with SC4Evermore (SC4E), and SC4E maintains an active Discord server.  For traditional forums, we recommend Simtropolis.

Oddly enough, adding the CPU count to my shortcut didn't work. Even so, setting it manually does work and it's not that big of a deal, just a few extra seconds. I'll definitely remember that for other older software I use. I doubt I'll move on beyond Windows 7 because I don't like the direction the world of computing is taking and I'm quite happy with my "old" games and my DS.

I haven't updated my graphics drivers in forever. I know sometimes that has fixed problems and other times made them worse. I figure if it works don't mess with it so unless I need to update I usually don't.

I ran into another crashing problem just now but I'm going to post about that in another thread since I know it's not related to the CPU count.

There's a tool out there that will alter the .exe directly LINK.

Pretty much any game that appears to skip frames can be set to 1 processor with good results.
