The SC4 Devotion Forums are no longer active, but remain online in an archived, read-only "museum" state.  It is not possible for regular members to post or use the private messaging system, and no technical support will be provided for any issues pertaining to the forums in their current state.  Attachments (those that still work) are accessible without login.

The LEX has been replaced with SC4Evermore (SC4E), and SC4E maintains an active Discord server.  For traditional forums, we recommend Simtropolis.

can't instal dat-files

when traying to instal dat-files,it shows as VLC player-files??? how to fix this???  ()what()  pleas helpe!!

You don't have to fix this, SC4 will read those fine. VLC just registered the DAT extension as default, but as long as you don't double-click the DATs, nothing will happen.

If you want to install the BAT/Lot/whatever, simply extract the ZIP file and place the DAT, SC4Lot, SC4Desc and SC4Model files into a new folder within \Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins. The ReadMe file should give you further instructions in case you need a special folder structure etc. If you find an EXE installer within the ZIP file, simply double-click it and let it do the work for you.
