I am trying to move my SC4 files to an external HD so I have some room on my laptop.  The problem I have is when I try to copy the files it can't copy because the file names are too long.  Anyone know a workaround for this?

I can backup them but not copy them is there a difference? 

I was thinking of the zip idea too.  But 4MB is a lot

is it the name part that is too long or the number (depth ) of folders ? if it is the number of subfolders you can zip by subfolders for example, not zipping 4Gb in one zip

Its the name part ... they are saying the file name is too long.

I backed it up to my external HD, I think that is the same type of files.  I am also zipping the file now.  Thanks so much for the help.  I have to tell you wouanagaine I love datpacker.  it is the best thing to happen for SC4
