Hello there, fellow sims
I was cleaning my huge plugins folder, and I was using the fabulous Cleanitol. Now, I have the master files compiled by Capo, and I was wondering... all the SimGoober items in that list are disposable when you complete the dependencies named at the end of the big list? I still don't understand how this works but seems marvelous... a list of dependencies missing with links... EXCELLENT.
But now I must know how does it work and if I can delete all the red files when I get all those dependencies (most are the packs made by Barby, another wonder from SC4D)

THANKS
SANDOKAN

If you hit the 'backup' button in cleanitol, it will move the deprecated files on the backup folder ( in the same level as the your plugins folder )

I downloaded the new Cleanitol Master File and the missing files it said I needed, but I'm a bit confused (something new there  ;) as to why.  Are these all the files I need to install to make everything on the Lex work?  If it is, I don't need all the files because I don't have or use everything.  But are these the things I should have to play the game properly if I ever get to that stage, so should I go ahead and install everything now?  I have a new laptop so space and speed aren't issues, but the one thing I put it that I thought I'd play with, the dirt street mod (?), replaced the street choice in the game so I took it out.  So I am worried that if I install everything I  really will mess things up, but then again, I don't want to miss anything that would limit my choices in building things.  I have such great fun with it now but everybody's journal's and pictures look so wonderful that I want to take advantage of things like the NAM, but I don't dare yet.  Does anyone have any clue as to how I should handle this?  Please remember that I am still working on LE 101 so I won't understand anything technical.

Many thanks in advance.

The megapack V2 is a list of all dependency packs on SC4D and the files they replace, you don't need them all to play the game properly. I doubt there are many people who downloaded and installed everything from the LEX.
If you download and install all the (dependency) packs, then your plug-in folder will be huge, I really recommend the datpacker made by wouanagaine to keep the game running smoothly if you do decide to install them all.

It's best to always read the read-me provided with the buildings you download from the LEX so you will know what dependeny packs you need. Some of the buildings on the LEX have dependencies that are not on the cleanitol list and with keeping your plug-in folder as clean and small as possible, game-speed and loading time will be much better in game.

Then if you need to keep doing as I have been, downloading the dependencies with the lot file, what is the big cleanitol master file for?  I don't understand what to do with it.  Do I run it on each lot I have to see if they need a new dependency, even if they're working OK?

The master cleanitol files are for those who don't read readme or can afford to download and use everything :)

Cleanitol doesn't check for lots if dependencies are downloaded. All it does is look for outdated proppacks and check your plug-in folder(s) for installed megapacks. If a depency turns up missing, it does not autmaticly mean that you need that file for your game. All that Cleanitol says is that it's not installed..

What wouanagaine says is right...if you always read and follow the read-me's from files from the LEX and download the dependencies listed in those, you will not need cleanitol. However..there are still some (older) files on the STEX (and probably other sites also) wich contain outdated proppacks in the download, a few examples are the Flower Market by Gascooker or some Newman Inc buildings of citynut on the STEX. If you run the cleanitol file after installing the flower market, cleanitol will give you a warning that an outdated proppack, that has been replaced by the GC megapack1, has been found. You should only delete that outdated proppack if you indeed have the GC megapack installed.

Can"t you just delete or backup all duplicate dat files with a duplicate file finder and then datpack the remaining files with no ill effects. It just seems that instead of using Cleanitol for each plug in that you could install multiple files and run duplicate finder once and be done with it. It seems it would work for the dats and other files in the same manner, with the exception of doing it multiple times. An example would be installing BSCMEGAProps_JRJ_Vol01 thru BSCMEGAProps_JRJ_Vol06 and running a find once compared to six times. Also a question about DatPacker, once you've done this once are there any problems with re-running after you've installed several new plug ins. New to this and just trying to make it simpler. Looking forward to any input. Thanks
