Well its not going to be the map I hoped, but still playable. What about this area:

Maybe downscaled a bit. Don't mind a big map, so please not a lot.

Could I do it myself with PhotoShop ?

HabLeUrG

I will make that area  ;) that is a preview so it doesnt work if you modify it in photoshop.. will make you that better

HabLeUrG

its ready, i dunno if the terrain is correct but looks too sharp..  :-[  i see that Norway its a beautiful place...
ive added some deep to water for better realism  ;)

Probably it is right:

Thank you.

vester

Have been thinking of it.

HabLeUrG: Are you still ready to do a fictional map based on the area around Bergen ?

Ennedi

I'm interested in this idea - I like mountains, I like Norway (hope I will go there in future) and I'm working on the mountainous region now.

My 2 cents (maybe it will be a bit useful): it is completely impossible to make really good map, realistic and playable in the same time, looking only at satelite views and using SC4 Terraformer. Choose the map, put it into the game with a good terrain mod installed and see how it looks. After making modifications (in SC4 Terraformer, but also using ingame tools) check again how it looks. And look at photos of this region, not only on satelite views. The "SC4 realism" is not only a question of simply changing the scale - it is especially important when you are working with mountains  ;)

I will help with pleasure, if I will be able to  :D

Probably I could take that but making fictionals maps takes me some time to finish... if theres a DATA (.bil) of the are thet could be better...

Please explain, not sure what you are talking about.

HabLeUrG

i mean if theres a digital elevation model data of Bergen, where i can get it? if theres isnt any so i will make it fictional but that takes some more time for to complete  :-\

vester

Sorry have no idea where to find data for Norway, but will have a look around.

vester

Hi H

I didn't find any data :P

Hoping that you would not mind a fictional version of the area.

of course no problem  ;) (sorry to replay later, i didn't see this before  ;D)

But please give me some time  ;) thanks!
edit: if you want a fictional map, please give me an idea how you want it, by just making a draft picture in paint of the map and Ill put my magic on it  :)

I know, but the problem was that vester was looking a map "near close" to Bergen, but there wasn't any data available of the area, that area was the closest one. So now theres an option for to do the map by hand.

Heblem

Srry for double post, but heres the are of bergen in ge

The problem is the elevation, im not sure how high is the "highest" point neither i dont know about the elevation of the area. Thats the problem of doing a hand map and an area that you dont know...

You could have a look at it in Google Earth:

I have found a page, where you can lay out a route for biking, running ect, called Bike Route Toaster.

EDIT: Looks like there are no height data for the area there as well :P :(

Could you take an area a little south:

Heblem

i wonder from where GE gets the digital elevations  ;D i'll try my best on this map, please be patient
the altitude its around 0-400 meters...

vester

Heblem

TerraMetrics?? I don't know I'll check about that...  ;) thanks!
