I suppose this will have to be a 2-part question...

First of all, my problem in the game: I've downloaded JRJ's Original, revised Seawalls, and they seem to work perfectly in-game. Problem is, I have no idea how to use them to get diagonal walls, stayed past midnight yesterday (or this morning, rather) trying to figure them out. I'm usually good at this, so being stumped here – you can understand my annoyance. Can anyone tell me or show me how to place the darn pieces so they work in diagonals?

I've tried reading the included Readme.htm for the mini-tutorial in there, yet the images don't show up – VERY annoying as well (If anyone knows why, please let me know...?), so that's useless.

The second part – I'm very much new to SC4 Devotion – long time member of ST though – and I must admit, the dozens of categories and subcategories in the forums are a bit much for me. I hope I'm posting this in the right one, yet it not, I'll be grateful for Mods or whatever to relocate it to where it should be. I'm learning.

Thanks for your time, fellow fanatics.

No, this is the correct place for your post. Could you please post a picture of your problem as I can't tell exactly what is wrong from just words.

Thanks dragonshardz for answering quickly, sorry I couldn't get back to you faster.

I wan't really sure how to take pics of my problem – I actually would need to learn how to use the pieces at all first – but here are two pics of the shoreline I'd like to revamp.

(PS. This is my first time posting pics with the new, upgraded Imageshack – haven't hosted images in a very long time, so there will probably be bugs, I'll try to fix them soon...)

This pic shows the shoreline (well, part of it), along with the Road tiles used to flatten it equally.

This one shows what one of the diagonal sections looks like. See how they're not nearly as cute as in the official pics that come with the download...?

The thing is, it's a breeze to build straight seawalls – just plop them in place – but it's the diagonal pieces that are killing me. I really don't know how to explain this in details, other than I'm not sure how the pieces fit together and all. How do you place them? What orientation? Etc.

This is probably a dumb problem, but I have to admit it's getting the better of me at the moment. Any help is tremendously appreciated.

Thanks again.

Just looking, Bd, it looks like you could use a bit more site prep to make things as uniformly diagonal as possible before you start.

If you continue to have problems, this mod by pjot might help:  Diagonal Jagged Edges MOD [linkie].

Heh... "Bd"... never been called that before... I like it!

Also, thanks for the linkie, I've been recently searching all over for the darn thing, couldn't seem to find it. I've yet to learn about it, so here I go. I'll post again if I need further assistance. As for now, Gracias, and Ciao!

(Yep, I don't think they're the same language... who cares...?)

No, they're not the same language.

Also I've found that it helps to have a shoreline that is less jagged than yours is. IE, yours looks something like this:

     /
    /

  /

/

Basically it helps if the shoreline is one continuous diagonal line with as few orthogonal sections as possible.

Also, there will be some times when it WILL be impossible to use the seawalls in a particular area, such as this:

/
|
\

Just make that straight and all is well.

Well, that's done it. I got the Mod, and now it works perfectly! (Though side-effects include that half my slopes are now with the cliff-textures... no biggie though, just wierd...)

Again, thanks for all the help, problem resolved, case closed, etc. Thanks!
